Brock McLean has left the building

great!

for years ive almost hated mclean because this forum!

he was so over hyped it was CRAZY!

i have wanted him to be traded for many years..i however didnt think he would leave at this stage of his career but WOW!

i thought he was a real football romantic and would deff try stay a 1 club player.

the fact that he requested really makes me interested to hear the full story.

His service has been good, he has done some wrong things and some really great things (10k)

Sadly he will not really be missed

Right on the money.

Brock is as slow as buggery. He peaked when he was 19. Whatever pretensions he once had to being an impact player are well and truly over.

Provided we do the science around Selection 11, - and Moloney stays fit - he will not be missed.

I think we would all agree that he was our favourite player in 2006. He was our saviour. We have found others now. This year, pre season or not, he has seem disinterested on the field, not as vocal as he was in the past. That was the scary part about his form. It makes sense now though. Lets hope his form continues the way it has this year for the rest of his career at the Carlton Football club.

Brock will easily make carlton's starting midfield, and they actually have a midfield. I cannot understand how demonlanders come to this conclusion with the list we have.

but the point is moot anyway

Not the midfielf we have now. The one we will have in a couple of years when Blease, Straus, Scully and "pick 2" are ready to join the fun alongside Morton, Grimes, Jones, Moloney, Bennell and Jetta. And then there are guys like Dunn, Bate, Davey, Green, Bruce and Bartram who might still be hanging around somewhere in there. We are going to have an elite midfield provided we can keep the players.

I hope one of the journos have the underlying reason for this request of a trade.

Because its come out of bloody no where.

Brock donated money, was whored around by the club on various TV shows, basically hinting at the fact this guy was the next captain of our club. When spoke about our club he loved the future it had and all of a sudden has turned his back on it and requested out?

Why? I want to know the exact reasoning... if it is a fight with Jmac..i want to know.. If its something else..i want to know.

I knew all along a hard decision would be made in trade with with a few current midfield players on our list but i DID NOT expect a player request a trade from our club to another melbourne based club especially Brock....

That is the worry! I want to know the real reason behind the request of a trade because i sure as [censored] think he was not thinking of moving as of the conclusion of round 22.

This is getting a little scary ATM.

If this is because of the coach, then surely the players can go over his head and talk to the president and sort something out, or get some reassurances.

I just cant understand why he wants to leave, it cant be because he thinks he may not get a run in the midfield, as it stands we don't really have one. Then to got to a club like carlton which has one of the best and probably one of the hardest to crack into just does not sit with me.

I will cop it for this, but..... We may need to review the coaching position

Two records ago, the most amount of users on the site was after Danners' last game.

The previous record was for the drafting of Jack Watts.

The current record is for the defection of Brock Mclean.

The board seems to be very happy with the coach. Wasn't there talk of adding a year to his contract?* You'd think that if there was a serious problem between him and the playing group this would be heavily discussed.

*an extra year that makes his contract end at the same time as GL's does at channel 9 ;)

Not just yet. I think we should wait and see why all this has happened first. If Davey stays and everything is all fine within the club then Mclean's departure will feel a bit better.

Would people have rathered Brock saying:

He thinks his future isnt bright at the dees and left it with that due to the club showing him were his at.

or

The club tell him his not wanted not seen as part of our premiership team and brock leaving in that term.

I obliviously have no idea what the real cause was but im hoping it was the first option from what i no of brock that probably was it.

i guess beamer is now my outright fav. goin to hurt seein brock in the navy blue. i know its mean spirited but i hope he never regains his full fitness and we pick up a superstar. it'd be nice to be on the win side of a win lose situation for change.

Dont forget Jacky ... jacky grimes!

Well that's a surprise. I wonder what's changed in the space of a year?

With his recent injury problems and a reputation which at this stage seems to exceed his ability, I think it's a sensible trade. I've been reluctant to say as much because of the loyalty he's shown the club.

Jones, Maloney, Valenti and McDonald are similar players and with Scully and possibly Trengove coming through next year, we can easily afford to lose him and use pick 11 on the best young forward or ruckman.

But still, I'll be sorry to see him go. I thought he would become an absolute star after that elimination final against St. Kilda...

Maybe he knows his ankle is chronic, and won't improve enough for him to keep pace with the modern game? In this sense it's a Hay/Rawlings type trade... I can hold out hope that his is the case.

But if we just traded him to get Burgoyne, then I'm [censored]. It's a quick fix that will not come off. And Burgoyne is 4 years older.

Brock will play good footy in the coming years. It'll hurt a bit at some point.

I am with The Biff - Brock clearly has his AFL limitations

No doubt @ the ripe old age of 23 he is the slowest bloke in The AFL.

Pick 11 is a huge win - Lets Embrace this.

Farewell Brock - All the best @ Visy Park $$$$$$$$$$$

4 Picks in the 1st 18 - This is X-mas - Bring It ON

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
