Story on ABC 1 Melbourne 7.30 Report on Liam Jurrah in a few minutes.

Thanks Maurie!

Doh!! missed it? what was it?

ABC have great websites and youll be able to watch and download from the 730 report site tomorrow

Fantastic! what a thrill to see this young man in action on and off the field again.

Some very interesting comments came out of the item

1. His Elders and family support him wholeheartedly being down here - so much so that they would send him back down here if he wanted to head home

2. DB quoted as saying that it is hard to tell how long he will be around but he gets the distinct impression that LJ is a determined young man who will be around for a while to come.

3. He went home last year to nurse his best friend through his last days of a fight with cancer.

4. The Coll@£$od coterie that brought him down originally seem like a terrific bunch (Does not compute  ) and honored him recently at one of their Dos.

5. He is obviously quite the character

Had me smiling from ear to ear ;)

Brilliant, A great insight to what this guy has done to get here and where he is from. A really good question was posed to Dean Bailey about how long he will play AFL, He paused and said he didn't know. I really really hope hope he will be a 10 year player, I love to watch this bloke !!

Great to see rudeboy get an appearance in the story as well.

Brilliant story. Now have even more admiration for Liam, after seeing some action on the Yuendumu footy ground.

top story and yes very decent of the pie coterie to honour him and not begrudge where he ended up

You should be able to pick it up tomorrow at the 7.30 Report website.

Thanks ever so much. I am really grateful to those of you out there who are able to share the technology to help the rest of us out.

He already is a star of the competition.

Correct weight.

And he plays for Melbourne.

Gods be praised.

Thanks for the link, that was a great story.

Thanks to the 7.30 report I was able to see that goal over his head! I missed the first 20 mins of the game. What an amazing effort.

Came over as a really pleasant, humble guy and considering English is not his first language, he spoke quite well.

Can't wait to see it again tomorrow. Thanks Maurie!

I could only find a written page, not a video, can any one link the footage to this site so dumbarse's like me can find it :)

It hasn't been uploaded by the ABC yet. I would suggest trying later today or tonight. The Video Link will be on the Transcript page just above the Pic of the Warlpiri Wizard.

just watched it...go to where the transcript is and the video downoad option is on the right hand side

He quite impressive as a bloke...very humble...but steely determined. Firstly I wish him al the success in fotball and in life outside of it. He is a proud and rightfully so ambassador of his people.

I think as a club we are incredibly lucky in having him, not just for the obvious football proess he has but to be honest the limelight it brings to the club. The attention he has garnered has focused a lot of media interest on the Melbourne footy club and he is instrumental in showing us in a very favourable light.

Thankyou:)

Totally agree. LJ is a great ambassador for his people.

This was one of those stories that puts a lump in your throat. Proud to be a Demon.

I loved the bit where the elders would put him on a plane and send him back to Melbourne if he tried to go back. It would seem, as a Warrior Elder, LJ has some unfinished business to do down here. And aren't we glad he has!!!!!!

Proud to be a Demon. :D

Thanks guys for the link.

Fantastic video.

I hope Bailey is right and he'll play for as long as he is physically able to. Too often we see these amazing talents emerge and disappear quickly.

Love the skinny lattes too. Well done Liam, you're a real Melbournian now! :D

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
