Exactly where I was going to go. He's given Scarlet a couple of lessons over the last few years for one. Not many can say that. He's been a great contributor for a number of years, but I can't see him being offered another contract at this stage. Once again it comes down to whether he is going to contribute to our next premiership tilt, and the answer is no.

Robertson was a solid contributor during our last "thereabouts" period. He's 30, well past his best and has trouble keeping his spot in the bottom team. He can't be kept to guide our younger players because the example he sets is not what Bailey is trying to instill in our new recruits. Personally I can't think of a good reason not to bring another 18 year old onto our list with an eye for the future. Remember it is here that this club has failed in the past and can ill afford to anymore. This is not meant as an insult to his career.

Because it is not true. In fact it was the opposite case when they recently met. His record against Geelong since 2006 has been nothing to write home about. He did kick 7 in 2005 at KP. Was he on Scarlett that day?

Regardless his best was 4 years ago. A good career thats in its twilight.

Scarlett played as a carefree loose defender and was not made at all accountable by Robbo and just dominated. I worry you missed it.

While he did kick 3 goals, Scarlett had 22 possessions that day and was instrumental in setting up so many attacks.

You're wasting your time.

For me, Robbo should bow out at the end of this year and retire on a high. He deserves nothing less because he has been a brilliant part of our club for over 10 years and, despite what some people would have you believe, has always stood up in big games against good opponents when we needed him most. He carried our sorry arses over the line many times, even when given the role of key forward, which he clearly is not.

It was fantastic to see some vintage Robbo on display today. That's how he should be remembered.

It is also not a "fact of where he is now," because a comment like that spans a career - not the final 3 seasons of a career (with 13 games lost in one of those seasons due to injury).

I make it the most recent 3 to 4 years which is a decent period to form a reasonable assessment of a player. Simple as that.

And its the most relevant period in considering Robbo's future.

Did anyone hear Cam Bruce being interviewed today and when asked about Robbo he hesitated and then said that it would be great for Robbo to get a full preseason and that his type of injury takes a long time to get back. I'm wondering if Cam is putting forward an argument that he should be given one more year.

And I have already acknowledge he some scalps to his name. But both in the past 4 years (not 3) and at times in the other periods he often does go missing against big name players. So the comment does have some validity. And your effort to argue that it does not apply is uninformed and not true. So if we put the word "often" at the front of the statement you can relax.
