There are some, umm, interesting? comments on this thread.

Is it possible that a 10 goal win over Fremantle has gone to our heads?

We will not beat Carlton. They are too focused right now. Top 4 in their sights. Bailey shouldnt have to do much if any 'experimentation' to ensure a loss. (I have to admit though, that hoping to lose against the likes of Sydney, Richmond and North is one thing, a difficult thing to do in itself. But hoping to lose to Carlton is going to take a whole different level of commitment. Going to have to seriously bite my tongue. Hard work but it is what it is. Just get it done.)

And we will not beat StKilda. They will make a mess of us. They will be tuning up for finals with their only home and away hitout on the MCG. They will be up and climbing through the gears. The only good thing about this game will be that the season is finally over. That's about all.

Exactly. Or even simpler:

We will not beat Carlton. They are 5th for a reason.

We will not beat StKilda. They are 1st for a reason.

The question that interests me is whether the team listed below would be a real chance of knocking off Carlton:

FF: Wonaemirri Jurrah Maric

CHF: Morton Bate Petterd

C: Davey Sylvia Green

CHB: Bruce Garland Frawley

FB: Rivers Warnock Bennell

Foll: Jamar McLean Grimes

Int: Jones Moloney Martin McDonald

Are we that far away from being competitive with a top 4 contender with the best of the 2009 list?

Add Watts, Blease, Strauss, Scully, Trengove in the near future . . . you get the gist.

Exciting times.

I don't think I could physically get to the game this weekend. The idea of wanting to see Carlton fans smiling at full time makes me ill.

How about this side: -

FF: Wonaemirri Jurrah Watts

CHF: Morton Bate Petterd

C: Davey Sylvia Green

CHB: Bruce Garland Frawley

Foll: Jamar McLean Grimes

Int: Scully Moloney Martin Trengove

As you said, exciting times ahead.

Is the affect of the farewell games for wheats, whelan and robbo a concern? Suppose not even that could get us over the line against St Kilda but its a slight worry.

No.

That should be covered by experiementation. And St Kilda's loss to the Dons should be the pre finals spike they needed.

I agree, Stranga, especially if St Kilda rest a few champions who may have niggles, eg Riewoldt,Hayes and Kozzi.

I know it's highly unlikely, but another win would be such a calamity.

Rhino thinks I'm a moron for worrying, but I can't help it.

St.Kilda won't be resting much at all Round 22. They might want to go into the first week of the finals with as close to an unchanged line up as possible from the Round 22 line-up. They've already rested their stars.

My only concern with the Carlton game is that they are very one dimensional. If we manage to shut down Fevola they are very capable of falling in a heap. Perhaps we should rest Jurrah and Bate as a precaution? Bring Zomer up to fill in the gap in the forward fifty and we'd be about set I think.

I'm sure no team has thought of this plan before.

Beleive it or not - Carlton have won games with Fevola kicking 0 goals this year.

Their not as one dimensional as you think - given they have a midfield of goal kickers also.

Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Stevens, Houlihan, Simpson, etc.. will be a handful for us i'm guessing. It's not like we're playing Richmond again people..

I would imagine that the boys ( those left standing ) could have a red hot go and still probably fall short of a win. Thats just where we are now...next year...thats a whole new ball game ;)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
