Watts and Jurrah in the forward line, exciting times! Grimes with the kick-in, delivers to Sylvia, plays on and runs up the wing with a couple of bounces, draws the man and hands off to Bennell, look at him go, has a bounce, looks to deliver inside 50 and Watts on the lead takes the mark 50 out directly in front. Davey is running past and Watts hands off, Davey sees Jurrah one-out in the square and Jurrah with a strong mark in the square goes back and kicks his first goal in the AFL what a play for the Dees and Melbourne lead 1.0 to 0.1 here on Friday-Night football.

I don't think its playing to Jurrah's strengths to just leave him one out in the goal square; he probably wouldn't win an arm wrestle at this stage.

True but given space and kicked to adavantage he would be hard to beat on the lead, as would Watts.

I think our forward structure will need a complete rethink if these two blokes are included.

I can't see him out-wrestling anyone's full back at this stage, but can you see any of those full backs matching him on the lead? From the little I saw on the TV a couple of weeks ago, he's lightning.

Our delivery into the forward line will just sit it on top of his head... He'll have no chance, play him on the flank, let him run around, just like he has for Casey. He hasn't been playing full forward for them...

Agree

His lack of body strength would give away his own strengths if played as a KP foward

As far as physique goes Watts is another example of a CHF waiting for his body to catch up

Royce Hart didnt start at CHF either

I hope he plays against the 'dons on Friday. 11 goals in 3 weeks means his form is good, and if DB is true to his word of picking the team on form, he'll be in, no doubt.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. He has to be a absolute dead set certainty. I'm going on Friday so I sure hope he does too !!

We know it's likely Miller will come back in and you'd expect Bennell and Jurrah too as well.

Selection is going to be VERY interesting this week.

Bradley is much maligned, he does however provide a physical presence that I think will make life easier for the likes of Watts and Jurrah.

Yeah, Japaljarri is posting on the Big Footy Melbourne Board. Seems to be suggesting it is a certainty that Liam will play on Friday night.

Will be interesting to see if Rudeboy has anything to add to this.

Sounds like Liam is in. Rock and Roll!!!!

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well …

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
