That won't be the only surgery either GoodOilBoy. You and your ip number are about to be surgically removed from the site and it's going to happen very soon.

Just spoke to a family friend, said that Jamar was best on ground. Took some good marks.

interesting to see valenti in the best. Had a slow start but was terrific in the last quarter. Said hughes was our best forward, kicked 2 and was lively when the delivery got better. He was a bit miffed when dunn was in the best.

jamar had plenty of it but butchered the ball same goes for dunn valenti was his usual nuggety self hughes presented well and took a few good marks and looked dangerous newton would have been in the best if he had of kicked straight

Did that make you feel awesome? I bet it did.

It was a complete error, I caught the tail end and thought it was noteworthy.

Remove my username and IP all you like, there are about 5 million web proxies and browser proxies I can use but go knock yourself out pal, if an administrator wants to act like you with a genuine mistake then I won't be posting here.

Oh, please don't go GoodOilBoy... your contribution was breathtaking. For some reason your tag reminds me of the movie Deliverance... ever played the banjo?

Hey guys.

James Strauss had 24 disposals to half time. He finished with 36. Mostly cheap stats but don't think he made 1 mistake by foot which was promising.

Wheately had 22 possessions to half time before sitting out the2nd half for whatever reason

Spencer had 18 touches

Jurrah had 13 touches, 6 marks and 2 goals.

Zomer had 12 touches. Did nothing.

In the seniors:

Watts finished with 22 touches but had no influence on the match. no goal assists, no contested marks and no scores.

Dunn had 24 touches. Was great in the clearances and his tackling. Was arguably our best demons. Does tend to blaze away a bit..but thats the way i think the game should be played. just get the ball moving forward.

Jamar had 25 touches and 12 marks. Best on ground for casey i'd say

Cheney had 8 kicks, 13 handballs for 21 touches. some good overhead marks but not a great game by cheney. Did his job i guess.

Newton had 15 disposals but 1 goal 4 behinds. His chasing and tackling was the best in the team and I've never understood people criticising his lack of effort when he was clearly our best at this today.

MacNamara- 17 disposals. Just a game. Not bad and not great. Not as good as previous games anyway.

watts took at least 1 contested mark in front of me so thats wrong and at least 2 kicks he made forward resulted in goals his disposal today was outstanding

jamar may have had 25 disposals but he couldnt hit the side of a barn with any of them did try hard though and took some nice grabs

and newton really needs some serious work on his goal kicking casey could have won if he kicked straighter

Fair dinkum... What were you thinking? That really stung... I, for one, can understand an error, but geez.... what en error!!!

Did you get a little bit wet? I have HUGE hopes for this kid. More even than Blease in some ways. I'm happy for him to be a bit of an Yze-type... getting cheap kicks in the backline because at least he will hurt the opposition, and we need quality rebounders as much as anything else. CJ was to have this role, but personally, I'd prefer to see someone that comes in and almost instantly makes his presence felt.

Wheately had 22 possessions to half time before sitting out the2nd half for whatever reason

I remember at Sandy whenever he was coming back from injury he'd do the same thing. Get 30 touches in the first half, kick 4, and then get the second half off... Either to ease him back from injury, or to keep him fresh for his promotion the following week. Could be a sign of his impending return. And with the side working as hard as they are, Wheatley would have a day out...

Dunn had 24 touches. Was great in the clearances and his tackling. Was arguably our best demons. Does tend to blaze away a bit..but thats the way i think the game should be played. just get the ball moving forward.

Agreed. However at this level he should be implementing laser precision with his kicking by now. Perhaps, like Jamar, VFL is where he fits best? I hope not.

Newton had 15 disposals but 1 goal 4 behinds. His chasing and tackling was the best in the team and I've never understood people criticising his lack of effort when he was clearly our best at this today.

And here I was thinking I was the only one who saw this part of his game. He has a bit of mongrel in him does Juice. I remember in his second or third season he did an interview where he said Neale had asked hi to work on this aspect of his game, and he subsequently came out the next week and smashed the bejeezus out of anything that came near him. I just reckon he's not quick enough when pursuing to nail guys the way Campbell nailed Buddy yesterday. In any case Freak, it may just be the two of us, but you're not alone in seeing this side of Juice's play. Now if he can just kick straight...

Great to hear watts has played another good/promising game. Any chance this week to play infrount of a sml crowd on Sat night?

Did anyone keep an eye on how Hughes went? Kicked 2 and after a really good game last week he might be putting pressure on a mid season elevation after all?

I think Hughes should take petterds spot...

Petterd to get some form then go back to the hbf where he played so well!!!

Watts was ok but still a while off, won't be playing for at least 8 weeks i think!

Sorry I don't buy it. I know mistakes happen but how you can confuse Waite from Carlton with Watts from Melbourne is pretty suss if you ask me?

How did Bell go?

Sorry, Bell coped an absolute spray from German at 1/4 time for poor decision making and a lack of awareness, sound familier.

And did Bartram play?

Nope

Newton did some good things a shame kicking lots of goals wasn't one of them. Not making the distance because he was kicking the ball 20m before the mark was very frustrating to watch.

Jamar and Cheney played well, the rest I thought were servicable and nothing else. I didn't think Jack Watts worked hard enough.

Had a chat to Spencer at halftime nice fella. Didn't see the Resies but they won by about 50. Wheatly played in the first half and was pretty good by all accounts.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
