For those thinking of staying home to watch, I urge you to reconsider. Coburg always have a very sizeable contingent of loyal fans at home games. I know it's not like a big afl crowd, but when our boys get on a run it can be difficult to stop with the fans behind them. Add the cousins contingent to the equation and you will find a very intimidating atmosphere come tomorrow arvo. Anyone who can make the trip down to support the boys would be doing them a great service. You can always tape the game and watch it again later. As added incentive, they have great BBQ hot dogs and really good ham and salad rolls plus decent coffee if the weather is cold. And how could you miss the messiah's first outing? Plus it's always nice to get the suburban footy feel (which Coburg city oval has in spades) and also get up close to the players and listen to the coaches at the breaks.

These commentators are hopeless, does anyone know where I can find our players numbers? The Casey site only lists theirs.

Coburg 2.2.14 to Casey 1.1.7 at quarter time.

Casey 1.1.7 Reserves won by 2 points with James Strauss and Rhys Healey among the best. Strauss was reporterd for charging Coburg's D. Rayson in the third quarter.

2 watts goals. 1 newton goal (an accurate kick from a set shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

and jacks other kick in that first quarter off half back was precision to newton...and he also did another good chase. liking what we see!

Newtons first half would make him a definite next week. Ran hard took marks and kick goals. Watts looks great when his had his hands on it aswell. Dees players look good.

The poor kicking skills of the VFL listed players are killing me. Not that I should care, but I want Watts to get more opportunities!

His first goal in particular was class. That he firstly took a mark against 6 players, and that he then had the quick reaction time to play on (although it was clearly a mark) and kick across the body, was just great. He can truly play both tall and small, which is pretty rare for a forward.

Whelan is also way WAY too good to play at this level (his damn body is a curse), and it's great to see Bail and Grimes getting into the game.

McNamara, having never seen him before, is quite impressive. Has great speed. Mind you, we've got so many tall defenders at the moment, it would be better if he was played as a forward.

Newton has found his level. That is his comfort zone, and he cannot apply himself to a higher level of skills/speed.

Plenty of good VFL players never made the transition. He seems to be one of those.

Agree with most of that watts really hasnt had a decent kick inside 50 to him.

Although i havnt seen much of grimesy hasnt done to mcuh.

I hope he comes ino it this next half.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
