Morton ( needs a good game with clean positions, plays similar to Travis in his early days or may get a rest soon.)

Dont scare me, never mention them 2 to be alike again please

I/C (from): Neville Jetta, Paul Johnson, Jamie Bennell, Michael Newton, Cale Morton, Kyle Cheney, Nathan Jones

Just had a good long think about it and i reckon the three to miss will be Newton, Jetta and Cheney.

Initially i had Cheney in over Bennell, but i gotta agree with most here and say he's been one of our brightest youngsters so far this year and would be very stiff to miss. A spell to give his body and bit of a break probably wouldn't hurt though.

Jones (getting better, may take on chapman)

No chance IMO. Just because they look similar (size, hairstyle  ) doesn't mean he's a good matchup. Remember, Chappy plays predominantly forward, with short bursts in the middle. Hioverhead ability is outstanding for his height- he plays a lot taller than he is. No chance Jones will go to him.

Am i the only one on here that rates Bennell? Why does he need a spell? Hes doing a great job.

I rate him too and I'd like him to play as much as possible. When he gets it right he looks like the best player on our team.

Surely Morton will not get dropped? He would only get dropped if he is feeling the strain and needs a rest.

Jetta and Newton out robbo and maric in.

Keep in mind there will be at times slections ( ne..changes ) that can only be explained as 'list management' !!;)

Quite a few players need to get a run and some games under there belt. Its as much about blooding as a live evaluation. A lot of serious decisons are going to happen at seasons end and the thinking that goes into them all starts now !!

"JB" has been one of our brightest stars this season. His skill get better each week and he backs himself. He is only 18yo and may be the one that stops Wheels for a spot.

It is no good sending a kid back to Casey if he is performing every week. And of all the 1st year players this year IMO JB has been the best to date consistantly.

EXACTLY! .... as well as conservative player management (ie. post injury and not pushing the youngsters too hard).

Have the already done the side already ? If you look at Casey they have 4 players on the interchange Johnson, Newton, Morton and Bennell and they have 4 players on the bench that aren't named in the reserves in Wonaeamirri, McKenzie, McGough and MacCreadie the rest are named in the 2's. It might just be coicidence but that would mean that Jones has been dropped I'll be surprised if it is the case cause I thought we would need as many big bodied players as possible against the cats.

Jones and Morton are certainties to be on the bench.

Meesen is supposed to have the endurance of an elite distance runner so I would have no problem with him rucking all day, perhaps supported by either Miller or Martin (most likely within their respective fifties).

I don't think you can guarantee PJ a spot based solely on him being the backup ruckman. Especially when Geelong are still minus Brad Ottens.

If PJ is dropped, that may save Newton from the same fate, but I can't see both being picked on the bench. Other than that, I would have either Bennell or Cheney ahead of Jetta at this point. I'd like to see what he can do at the level below with close to 100% game time.

Just the 2 changes

In - Robertson and Maric

Out - Newton and Jetta

Good changes because Robbo and Maric are permanently in our best 18 players, while Jetta and Newton (at this stage at least) are not!

Other players to come in to complete our absolute best 22 players playing (other than Garland and Jamar- LTI):

- Jack Grimes

- Matthew Whelan

- Austin Wonaeamirri

- Simon Buckley

Depth players who will push for 18-22th spot in the team:

- Daniel Bell

- Kyle Cheney

- Shane Valenti

Also would like to see: Watts, Bail and McNamara to get a taste of afl footy in the next month.

If these four are in our best 22, who are the four that aren't? :)

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
