Did anyone stick with Sandringham after the Dees switched to Casey?

I obviously aren't questioning whether Sandringham has supporters. I'm sure they do. But did anyone start baracking for Sandringham because of their alignment with Melbourne. Then when the Dees switched their affiliation to Casey did anyone stick with Sandringham. So they go for the Dees in the AFL and Sandringham in the VFL? I doubt there would be many people in that boat but I'm guessing there must have been at least or two people out there who did that. It's a bit of a crazy situation how someone who lives in a particular area can support a local VFL team which is partly a feeder for senior players in an AFL team which they may not support. For example Someone in that boat could be baracking for a team with Saints players against Melbourne ones one week. And then down the track support those same Melbourne players against those same Saints players. Crazy!

I Grew Up in Sandringham so i am Really [censored] off about what has happened with the VFL. Am i now expected to walk away from the Zebras??? I have watched 5 Flags from that side!!!! Another reason to Dislike Demetrio & Co. I couldn't even read about last sundays game-it was just too weird.

I never barracked for them during the alignment, although I preferred a victory for obvious reasons.

I couldn't care how they travel this year and won't take an interest in their matches.

i followed the dolphins then sandy now the mighty scorps

i never really got into sandy to much probably only saw about 15 games in the time they were aligned with us, including the TV matches. I just didnt feel they were with us 100%, so i wasnt with them.

i grew up in the area and always followed sandy so it was a prefect match.... now i will follow casey and sandy...

although when sautner goes i will mainly follow sandy!!!

i really dislike him!!!

I'm going for Casey now, but have a big soft spot for the Zebs, went to quite a few of their games and I bought a guernsey too lol so I kind of feel a little obligated to follow them still + their song is awesome haha

I went for them pre-alignment thanks to Mum, so I'm sticking with them whilst following the Dees boys

I grew up near Sandy, so I used to support the local team - the Zebs.

I moved away 30 years ago, but still kept an interest in Sandy.

I barrack for the Saints, so once St KFC aligned with the Scorps, I barracked for Springvale.

When the Scorps moved to Casey, I thought it was fantastic - my aligned VFL team in my local area. Then (for a brief while) there was even the prospect of St KFC moving to Casey Fields and it was too good to be true. It was (too good to be true).

When St KFC broke the alignment with the Scorps to run with Sandy, I kept my allegiance to my local VFL team.

With the MFC alignment, I'm now also taking a keen interest in Melbourne. MFC is now my second team because of the alignment. Because MFC is having a training base at Casey, and getting so involved in the local community, I have bought a MFC membership as well and I'm going to Demons games (as well Saints & Scorps).

I went to Sandy last weekend, and there was no doubting my support for the Scorps over Sandy - despite my particular interest in some of the opposition players.

The upshot, in VFL terms, is:

1/ I barrack for my local VFL team - the Casey Scorpions

2/ I would support the VFL team my AFL club is aligned to (unless it is inconsistent with rule 1)

3/ Welcome to Casey all you MFC supporters.........we're happy to see you at Casey Fields.

I'm sure you'll find some St Kilda supporters in the same position...had an attachment with Springvale/Casey now the Saints are with Sandy...some will still stick with the Scops and some will switch to Sandy...only natural

It was strange seeing the Melbourne guys running around in Casey colours last weekend...particularly Shane Valenti... he's a Sandy boy through and through....didn't understand Casey playing Trent Zomer at full back....he spent all last year at full forward....he's a much better forward than backman...always loved Maric when he played for sandy...hard at it and got a lot of goals....he had more of a roaming role last Sunday

Sandy had a great ride with Melbourne and contrary to a previous post, they were 100% behind Melbourne...I was disappointed to see it end but we've moved on it's a pity that Sandy and casey won't meet again this season unless it's in the finals....I find it odd that we played each other in round 1 then don't meet again in the home/away season

Good luck to Casey this week against Port Melbourne...they're one teaam everyone likes to beat

and most probably more interest in the reserves match when young Jack Watts plays...he's a Sandy boy...well Highett now since he moved...

I'm the same. Still, when I opened the paper today to look at the teams, I habitually looked for Sandy first. It'll take a while to fully switch over to Casey for me.

i was born in sandy, when we switched to casey i was dissapointed, my dad took me to the 82gf i think, against williamstown, from memory, did any go to that game i think it was at junction oval, but yeah things change, we follow casey now.

I don't really care now how Sandy are travelling. My interest or connection is now with Casey following the Melbournefc players progress. As well as our "new campus".

I followed Sandy because I considered them to be our reserves more than I considered them to be Sandringham football club. And now I feel the same way about Casey.

Personally, I was guttered when we moved to Casey. I loved going for a short drive from St Kilda to beach road oval (sorry Trevor Barker oval).

Now i am really torn. Obviously iam going to follow Casey.

But i have a real soft spot for Sandy.

Also, I may be making the move north of the river shortly, and have recently been attending Coburg matches. Absolutely love that old ground, and $4 cans of beer. Thats my kind of football!!

Loved the affiliation we had with Sandy, if for no other reason, than to see Dees players to win Premierships! As a Casery resident, I am rapt to see them down this way, for obvious reasons. Thanks Sandy, GO SCORPS!!

Sandy was just a fling for me. I mean, the football was great (four Premierships) but I already have a far greater connection with Casey.

As a boy way back in the dim dark ages, I followed Williamstown because my cousin, Billy 'Bomber' Wells was their star full forward. Then it was Sandy due to its Melbourne connection. However, Frankston joined the VFL and being a Frankston boy, I have a soft spot for them. Now I have Casey to follow because of the Melb. connection. That makes 4 teams I can barrack for in the VFL. I do have only ONE AFL team however. I am BIASED however because I am related to 6 of our present players. I am the uncle of Brad Green, Brock McLean, Jared Rivers, James McDonald, Brad Miller and Cameron Bruce. Ask Yze Magic he'll tell you this is true. Do you want to believe him? He told you all that I was related to Cam didn't he? Seriously though, this year I would like to see the Saints do well and maybe win the flag. I guess this is out of sympathy since they haven't had too much success as a club.

maybe st kilda and melbourne should merge and so should casey and sandringham, just so we can cope

< duck >

SK going to Sandy, though a natural fit, makes it really hard to keep barracking for them!

VFL team was Prahran (lived near there, Jimmy, etc), but then adopted Sandy and enjoyed the years with them. Finding it hard to barrack for Casey so its still Sandy for me for a while longer.

I go where Melbourne goes. I really have no interest in the actual VFL competition.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
