As irritating as it can be, or as much as everyone complains, I for one don't mind them. For me the way our form has been, it has enabled me to enjoy many of the other matches on the weekend, including watching scummy teams such as Carlton and Collingwood (notice how I placed Carlton first). This is only possible by playing on the Sunday. When Melbourne lose a game, it usually puts me in a foul mood for a couple days, hence missing other matches and news relating to football. Id prefer watching Melbourne play on a friday night, but in all honesty at the moment I don't mind as it would put me off watching other matches that weekend.

What do others think of Sunday games?

I don't mind them..... It is obviously not ideal..... Everyone would prefer Friday nights or Saturday games....

But, I enjoy kicking back on a Sunday arvo with a few beers and watching my beloved Dees....

I'd like all our interstate games to be played either Saturday night's or Sunday's.

It only becomes a big deal when you play on Sunday's for consecutive weeks in a row- which Melbourne have had in the last few years.

It is always interesting when Melbourne play at night, even though it only happened once against Geelong last year. I never really liked Sunday games, but due to the fixtures it seems strange when Melbourne don't play on Sunday.

it sucks from tv exposure and crowd attnedance point of view which is what we need but personally for me it works out ok... i love my punt on Saturday so i dont have to constaantly flick between sky channel and the game and then i go out sat night and get smashed with all the lads and ho's.. by sunday im hung over and get up and watch insipid performaces.. Pretty much sums up every footy season weekend for the last 24 months for me!!!

From a recovery point of view, it's good for the players. The next 5 weeks are all Sunday games so the players will enjoy some continuity and no 6 day breaks.

The Sunday twilight game against Adelaide should be a good experience for the fans. Something a little different.

From a hang-over point of view, just do all your boozing on Friday nights.

I don't particularly care what day the games are on. I just hate it when the games aren't on free-to-air TV -- which seems to be nearly all the time. It means I often am not able to watch, like this weekend. Blergh.

I own up to a vested interest here; I play tennis on Saturdays. Sundays are perfect for me; I have just had a look at the tennis fixture and I only need to miss one match this coming season.

Nasher are you able to get to a pub or venue from where you are to see it televised live? or get to a friends house with foxtel? Must be a pain in the backside with no free to air

sunday matches are the lowest time slots to play, they suck, instead of been home on a sunday arvo , relaxing and getting ready for the working week , its 5 in the afternoon and your driving home or on the train, sunday arvo games are nails in the coffin, and the AFL now it.

Personally, I find there is generally more going on socially on a Fri or Saturday so the footy's easier to fit in when it's Sunday. Of course, it's not great for some, but that's the way with every timeslot.

From an exposure POV Sunday's obviously not great, so a nice balance of timeslots would be ideal.

I'm pretty sure we've had a couple of twilight games in recent times - v Richmond and/or WB at TD last season iirc.

I also don't see what's great for fans - apart from the clock what's different? Fans don't seem to share your view since we get worse crowds than normal for twilight matches.

Personally, I find it's pretty inconvenient. I imagine it's not good for families with young kids, but for some it may be great. *shrug

There are places I can go to watch, which I often do, but I also sometimes (like this weekend) visit the inlaws, and there's no foxtel within cooee, including the only pub in town. Really sucks.

I don't like Sunday games because my wife says..."Sunday's the "family "day. Especially Mothers Day, Easter Sunday, and our Wedding Anniv(Sunday this year). I think of Saturday as "sport day". Of course, I still go to our 15(or whatever) Sunday games, but it causes friction in the Clennett household.

There's nothing better than a good win on the Friday night, then watching the other teams injure each other over the next two days.

The fact that sponsors don't like Sunday games is all important, and a major reason to oppose the AFL's tendency to schedule us for Sundays.(unless Joe wants to dub in another few mill.!)

I hate sundays cause they always are at the same time of my footy. I only got to 12 games in 07 and 08 because of the bloody sunday games. Unlike the years before 07 and 08 where I got to about 15 each year. Nothing beats saturday afternoon at the G. We only have 3 Saturday afos and the G this year.

The strange thing is that in about 2004-2006 we played more Saturday afternoon games than Sunday afternoon. But the last couple of years we have played heaps on Sunday for some reason

Nothing beats Saturday arvo. To me that will always be the best day for footy. But don't really mind the Sunday games. It's just terrible from a financial point of view. BTW that game against Adelaide will be a real danger of dropping to around the 15 k mark. We'll be struggling, they may be struggling as well and the bloody game's at 4pm! Luckily Adelaide have a lot of supporters in Melbourne.
