Melbourne 11.7.73 to Brisbane 4.12.36

The rain was so heavy he could not see ground at times.

Jake Spencer lifted in the last.

Jnr asked Bailey who was the best in the youngsters and he replied, "They all had their quarter, but in the last quarter, it was Zomer!"

Cam Bruce had a brilliant game. Jones also, particularly early in the game.

Juice Newton had a solid last qtr

Jared Rivers was good when was on.

Brock McLean was dominant in the middle.

Last quarter Brown got nothing, or was spoiled each time.

Bradshaw was good, presented well deep forward.

Travis Johnston brilliant, had ball on string, and disposal around 75% which was good for this game.

Simon Black good 3rd qtr.

That is all I got before he ran out of coin for payphone.

This is the best team they have fielded all Pre-Season.
I was pretty worried this would get ugly for us with the inexperienced team we sent to Cairns so this is a pleasant surprise. Fairly happy with how this pre-season is turning out especially in comparison to last years.

Thanks for your efforts faulty, much appreciated.

Not surprised to hear TJ play well, he seems to step it up in the wet conditions.

We are a completely different team when Mclean and Rivers are out there.

And if they can play a full season, we will be a darkhorse.

Well done faultydet and junior. Great effort by both and by the Demons.

I know this was just a practice matcj but let's hope we can double our opposition's score on more than a few occasions during the regular season!

This has been our best pre season for many years.

We could have and probably should have won all 3 games.

Sure they are practice matches, but in recent years the form a team takes into the season proper is a good indication on how they will compete for the year.

I think we all have to re-evaluate our thinking for this year....the clouds are moving away and the skies are turning blue.....

I just don't get why they don't televise these games, surely thee would get more viewers than half of the other stuff they put on TV.

There is even no radio for these games. It's absolute stupidity...

Good to have a win against a relatively full strength side with many good players missing.

Woke up this morning to check the results and write ups in the papers. You would have thought Brisbane won! Both papers talk about Voss said this and that and then right at the bottom of HUN article a small comment from Bailey.

We are the wooden spooners, it is only a practice match and we have no major sponsor so why go with a Dees heading!!!!!!

Anyway practice match or not at least we still know how to win.

yeah, the Cairns post has a pic gallery of the game, a couple of Dees pics somehow made it in towards the end :-)

Same in East Bentleigh, but I thought the earth moved when a good looking bird looked at me then found out when I got got home the wife felt the same thing, lasted about 5 seconds.

And post of the week goes to d3165.

I have picked the Lions for the spoon this year, or at least 14-16th, so I take the result with a grain of salt, especially considering with the weather Brisbane were robbed of our customary 4th quarter fadeout.

With that in mind, I am far mroe excited about the dees than at any time in the last 3 or so years. I reserve my greatest excitement for one Jared Rivers, who has proven yet again, what he CAN do.

Well done demons, and have faith.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
