  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

When does the next crusade start?

Very clever.

The Owls (my other footballing obsession) are in serious financial trouble. Since being relegated from the Premier League they fell further to the old div 3 and are now back in the Championship (the step below the Premiership/old div 2). They are currently dealing with a 28 million dollar pound debt.

I sure can pick em!

I feel an affinity with the Owls :(

GBP 28 million in debt??? That will take a fair can rattle!!!

This thread started off as silly and has got alarmingly more so.

To help out...maybe the AFL could sponsor us... They do have lots of money...

...

I can't believe how one dimensional people are... clearly this post was premissed on the fact that we won't/can't get a paying sponsor by round one. As soon as we get a paid sponsor, the idea falls out of the suggestion box forever

Without a paying sponsor - we can either run around with an empty jumper looking like a waste of space - or attract a bit of positive publicity as a community - minded organisation. The publicity we get - even if a bit of this cynicism is included - will demonstrate the profile a paying sponsor will get if they sign up by round two!!

Ok - lets do a bit of lateral thinking here. We can't get a paying sponsor... so why not donate sponsorship to a cause that everyone respects. If you don't like giving it away - ask for, say, $5 per game.

Melbournefc... proudly supported by the Red Cross " Give Blood"

Why the Red Cross?- because they are the front-of-mind organisation looking after the bushfire victims

It's not as stupid as it sounds.Just think of the publicity we would get amongst football and non football people. How many extra members would we get if we promised to donate 10% of the money to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal?

What have we got to lose? I don't think the Red Cross would stand in the way of a paying sponsor who decided after Round One to jump on the bandwagon and come to the party. We'd just have to cover the cost of changing the logo on a set of guernseys!!

Sounds crazy - but better than a big empty space. What d'you reckon?

Is that you Jimmy? Sounding out the faithful unanimously before making it official?

Commendable indeed, i'm glad they didn't go down the path of selling a one-off game. Although I was also in an odd sort of a way looking forward to seeing a jumper without an ad on it, I would have bought one for sure.

How about that?

Good to see - even better that a paying sponsor may be around the corner..

Outstanding hoopla. Definite candidate for post of the year.

And for those who scoffed at the idea (yes you Rhino), it just goes to show how out of touch some people are with the common man.

Spot on Hoopla...

Now for your next trick - predict our permanent major sponsor/s!

Jumper looks good with red cross logo in the paper today, great way of raising more awareness for the red cross...

No point letting the space go to waste and generates some good will & PR...

In the vogue of once off special occasion guernseys if the club and AFL were up for it then if we are without a real sponsor..(or even if we do get one) then a jumper ..something along these lines could help the cause. All paraphenalia could be auctioned/sold and funds donated to the Red Cross

Great thinking! I like your jumper. I would buy one for sure. And i think alot of other members and non-members would also. Just needs a Demon on the breast though and the 'red cross' written on the back.

Well played Hoopla.

I'm not sure if it was personal inspiration, inside information or clairvoyant ability, but if it is the latter then what's the estimated price for buying you in this years Footy Tipping Calcutta?

Ditto. No money in it for the club, but plenty of Kudos. Good work that man!

The Demons get a Government bail out because it cant find a sponsor! Given the financial climate and recent bushfire disaster I am sure the Government will gladly and willingly dip into the pocket. I mean really the Government is already looking at a $50 billion budget deficit what's a few 100,000 more.

This is an amazing idea that will be very well received, you should be ashamed of your attitude Rhino!!!

You'd obviously rather see our jumper with an empty space tomorrow, you have absolutely no foresight into how much positive PR we'll gain out of this.

Well done MFC

Jack its a good idea for kudos but a number of posters were thinking of it for monetary terms. That was never on the cards. But thanks for your lack of perception.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
