Well over at demonology they heard on SEN that Mick McGuane is the one, have you got it wrong again?

Mick McGuane doesn't = champion player though.

If it is McGuane, it's hardly worth dancing in the streets..............a big name like Buckley, Roo or Hird would be though!

Buckley.........how good would that be........could he teach our young blokes a thing or two!

Would be stoked if it was Roo, a real AFL champion who embodies everything I'd like to see in our players and also knows a thing or two about winning premierships.

Buckley would also be an excellent choice, except you know he's out the door the second Malthouse leaves Lexus Centre.

If this is true & Mick McGuane is now on our coaching staff I have lost total faith in our club.

I watched this bloke @ close range coach Balwyn Tigers last year & he is nothing more than a

confusing, crazed, ranting, phsyco. The young blokes couldn't understand a word he screamed all year.

Shown the door after one year. I don't care what local team he coached to a flag in 2008, him NOT being @ Balwyn

in 2008 was a major contributing factor in them winning the EFL division one flag.

Pray this isn't true!

Yep, Buckley could teach how to get outside possessions, and how to demand your team-mate give the ball to you.

One of the greatest receivers I ever saw.

Far be it from me to defend a player from Collingwood, however I consider your opinions on Buckley as a player to be just a little off the mark.

The source on 'ology is wheres_jacka. Anyone who knows Demonology knows he is the biggest bullshit artist on the internet. He makes Yze_Magic look like Nostradamus.

If wheres_jacka said it's true, you can bet your house that it isn't.

Thanks for some perspective Nasher, because if that news was on the money I was shattered.

Is the same McGuane who then coached the Balwyn Tigers seniors team in the Eastern Football League Division 1 in 2007. He came to the club at a tough time as they move into the highly rated EFL competition 1st Division. McGuane's coaching saw Balwyn into the finals in their first year in the competition (looked up on the internet) He has a good record maybe he got the young players to take their nappies off and with a lot of big recruiting is the reason they improved......

I dont give a flying F--k what you looked up on the internet.

I listened to most Pre-game , 1/4 time & 3/4 time speeches & the bloke was a raving lunatic.

If he lands @ The Demons we are seriously doomed.

I think the amount of $$$$ thorwn about had more to do with the transition.

As someone who has had contact with people who have been in McGuane's orbit he would be the last person on earth you would want around a young developing list. Unless you wanted to instill a culture of heavy drinking and gambling that is.

Surely it would have to be ruck coach as it is the only coaching position we need to fill, no?

And if its touted as a "true champion of the game" ruckman then we can sort of compile a rough list...

Shaun Rhen?

Corey McKernan?

Paul Salmon?

after writing out a long list of retired players that are no chance, I think it'll have to be Luke Darcy.

He's very well spoken, seems insightful when doing tv commentary, I understand he has held a position with the AIS (i think)

I'd be excited to have him, would definitely be a worthwhile candidate.

AND i recall reading an article saying that nearing the end of the season Jamar was insecure about his spot in the side & had heard Darcy compliment him during a match replay.

Jamar subsequently got in contact with Darc & met up with him a few times to get help on furthering his career.

I know that is meaningless, but it at least shows Darcy already has a relationship with our main ruckman.

Having said all of that, Scotty West would be great, but just doesn't seem to make sense at this stage.

i think if the club was able to get another more experienced midfield coach, Mark Williams will happily step back into his former role... would be great if it's true and we get scott west...

I doubt we'd announce a press confrence to welcome a ruckman to our coaching staff, where ruck coaches are usually part time...

and even if it is a ruck coach, no way Luke Darcy... he's doing way to well with channel 10 to head for a coaching career at this stage...

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
