Some are saying that this is the best and deepest draft in the past seven years, if not in the entire history of the AFL draft and Carlton recruiting manager Wayne Hughes who has only one pick between 1 and 40 feels sorry for his counterparts over at Melbourne which has pick 1 and another three picks before the Blues' second selection.

I would say that is fairly true, but you would have to wager nearly every recruiter would take Watts if they were holding the no.1 card - of course the other side of the coin is that if this draft is so deep then our pick 17 + 19 count for much more than they would have in the previous few years.. you could actually argue this is the ideal year for us to have these picks. Next year's haul will be juicier than a ripe orange and we will have just as good a bunch as the blue-baggers - we will have 5 or 6 top5 picks and another 14 or 15 in the top20. I'm not complaining.

Ever since they cheated and got number 1 pick last year + stopped us from getting pick 2 this year, they are in the gun.
