Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The dynasty is over ...

This week's Sandringham reserves squad has just come in and (probably for reasons related to insurance issues) Melbourne has not given permission to its eligible players Cheney, Weetra and Zomer to play. I guess that means that the dynasty is now officially over. The squad is:-

Calder, Anthony

Cannon, Jack

Cleeve, Stuart

Curcio, Michael

Dean, Thomas

Eaton, Andrew

Fleming, Andrew

Gilchrist, Rennie

Gilder, Brad

Gileno, Adrian

Gravina, Stephen

Gribbin, Daniel

Hardiman, Maddison

Hine, Matthew

Johnson, Will

Johnston, Marc

Lckwood, Scott

Liddell, Brett

Lyall, Nicholas

McConnell, Andrew

Monaghan, Sam

Sargent, Daniel

Shakaib, Hiwad

Summons, Justin

Torcasio, Christopher

Williams, Jake

Barry from Beach Road hopes to cover the game and I'll be writing an article shortly on the alliance and on the characters of Sandy who helped enrich the 9 year experience and on the future direction most likely to Casey ...

Very disappointing for the Melbourne players concerned. Be interested to know the REAL reason. maybe its insurance as suggested.. but with al due respect..that specualtion at the moment.) i.e why suddently an issue ? )

Interested to know what actually transpired.

In Cheney and Zomer's case maybe Bailey doesn't want to risk their preseason?

I would always give a player some finals exp over worrying about a few weeks of traiing !!

Although this may be very dissapointing, If our deal with Sandringham had a certain date of termination before now then It would be very unprofessional to let the players to take part in this weeks game.

Nash...with out possibly the tenet of that..Im inclined to agree :) My interest in the Zebbies died the min they jumped into bed with undue haste with StKilda..talk about not letting the sheets get cold !!

I dont wish Sandy anything othr than good luck in the finals....but Ive got no interest in them at all now..and I used to watch them as a youngen.

To be brutally honest....two words come to mind.....

GO SCORPS !!! :D

Disappointing for those players mentioned that they can't see out the season.

Poor form (again) Dees.

Hardly.

If Weetra and Zomer are injured in the finals with Sandy they are eligible to receive up to approx. 50% of their annual contract amount in 2009.

Why would the Club be stupid enough to risk the financial loss for players who are either delisted or will soon be?

We owe nothing to Sandy now.

How can we stop Weetra playing if we've delisted him?

Contact expiry date is 31 October 2008.

The point is that if one of these players does a knee and retires from football due to an injury sustained in the game (despite being delisted anyway) then we will have to pay them half a year’s worth of their current contract, even if we have absolutely no intention of renewing it.

Especially with Weetra, who we have already delisted, and Zomer, who one can only imagine will be delisted, there is absolutely nothing to gain from playing them.

Just to make things worse Box Hill have gained permission for Simon Taylor and Cameron Stokes, both with a fair amount of senior AFL experience this year to play for Box Hill.

For those interested, here are the details of the game:-

how can taylor and stokes play reserves??

taylor has played how many senior agmes? just because their seniors are out, surely similar rules apply to senior agmes...

Was listening to SEN's VFL hour last night. From what I could gather those blokes are still eligible because Hawthorn is still playing, despite the fact that the regular season is over.

Correct me if i'm wrong.

Just like many Zebra supporters couldn't give a stuff about the Dees I've never given a stuff about Sandy - even though I've shivered down at TBO on many occasion. Now the alliance is broken I couldn't give a stuff whether they win or lose.

Oh for the days of Sunday arvo watching Dandy and Frosty Miller and Big Eddie.

Never been a fan of the sandy / demon situation as its all based on compromise

It doesnt do either club any favours as you will always have different agenda,s

Bring back the Melbourne reserves so Bailey and Co can get the best development enviroment possibe

Not interested in anything short of that

well...unlike a few of the posters here...I'll still have a soft spot for Melbourne...and speaking to a few Melbourne players at Sandy last week...I know they'd prefer to be with us...

Enjoy the trips to sunny Cranbourne and the Casey Scorps...

and no doubt the Scorps will play Michael Newton at full forward EVERY game....no matter what....

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
