Will the interchange bench be those little towers they sit in?

The stretcher could be the dune buggies from Bondi Rescue.

You realise of course the first time the siren sounds they will all run off the ground shouting.."Sharks ...Sharks !!" :D

Haha awesome! Pre game video - Jaws on the big screen, get everyone fired up.

Maybe Casino as well.

And maybe that "awesome" new channel 9 program "the strip"

Still can't see how they went past Tassie

David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson will probably be brought out at the AFL's expense for the start of the 2011 season.

edit: And Candice Falzon...

What in [censored] hell is going on with the selection of the colours?

Red, blue, white and yellow sets up a potential clash of colours with a number of other clubs. Why not insist on different colours so as to avoid the colour clashes?

This club is going to be about as exciting as a wet paper bag.

That mascot looks to me like he's going to drown himself in the ocean any minute now, and why wouldn't you when you've been given the ever original name of Gazza from the Gold Coast

Sobering to think that this nothing club is streets ahead of MFC in the eyes of the AFL. Out with the old, in with the new! Out with the bath water and...oops!

It's clear the Gold Coast Schoolies, West Sydney Mountaineers and maybe even Sydney Swans, are going to suck the funding and talent pool dry over the next 5-10 years minium.

This is the price we pay for a truely national game in areas where marketing penetration is paramount, and the human supporters, well, they can like it or lump it!

Technology is such that the crowds can be painted in, anyway.

I still can't believe that Gold Coast Suns never even got a mention as an option.

I'm not saying it's the best or even putting my word in for it. But it surely had to be considered, what with being the number one positive thing people associate with the Gold Coast.

I don't really understand why any nickname idea has to be associated with the Gold Coast. Look at the existing clubs. There aren't too many Lions in Brisbane, or Hawks in Hawthorn, or 'Blues' in Carlton. What I'm trying to say is there isn't a necessity to have a nickname that goes with the location. So, for some examples, it could be the Gold Coast Kings, or Gold Coast Chargers. Really, anything's better than the Gold Coast Nothings, as they have now become known.

don't you think that alot of the current nicknames for afl teams have been born out of history, rather than made up for comercial reasons? we are the melbourne football club. as are the carlton football club, etc. the 'demons' nickname is a monika that stemmed out of history, like the redlegs, the fushias and the invisible whites before that. i say let the GCFC grow their own nickname, so that it means something when it eventually sticks.

I hope the whole team fails misserably and get no supporters or members. That would teach the afl for screwing around with the competition

Yeah I guess so. But the board could have at least had some better ideas.

19,500 attendees to the elimination final, Sydney Swans v Nth Melb.

Give us a break Vlad, Melbourne Football Club blows that away every home game.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
