Mistake by the TAB.

How you could have Melbourne favourites after last week debacle is amazing.

I know WC have more injuries than us, but you can't possibly think we're a chance of winning - based on form.

I thought we had more injuries at Melbourne. Unusual, they have more premiership players taking the field...

I would have thought under normal circumstances, West Coast would be starting slight favourites. We were pathetic and got beaten by a very good side last week, but our form in the preceding weeks was good enough surely to be competitive against the 2nd worst side in the comp who are playing interstate

But surely West Coast are well aware, its not in their best interests to win this one.

Easy money to be made in my opinion

It's a sad that even if we win on our merits there will be a perception around that WC have tanked and not put in their best side.

Since it makes no difference to us at this stage I hope we thrash them and put the heat right on them, probably very, very wishful thinking <_<

I think the best we can do is go out there and play a decent brand of football that hopefully gives the players some confidence. The worst thing would be if we didn't really show anything against a tanking opponent.

Right Bub!

I've been saying elswhere on this forum that this is the game we should lose!

Then, we can become a football club again an drive all our efforts to win.

Why on earth would we be trying to lose this week?

Let's say West coast lose both their last two games by 100 points - 150 to 50. That would be enough to bring their percentage down to 65.0%.

If our two remaining games averaged at 75-all draws, our percentage would climb to 65.4%

That is roughly what it would take.

If West Coast is even remotely competitive (by which I still mean 10 goal losses!) in either remaining game, we won't pass them on percentage.

Meanwhile, we would need to win today, win another game, and take it to the wire in a third in order to hold up our part of the bargain.

Fear not. We have the electric spoon (Watts) within our grasp. (Unless we win all three, that would really root us.)

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
