Davey out for the season

The bottom-placed club also received an off-field blow, with the news that agile forward Aaron Davey and athletic big man Paul Johnson would miss the rest of the season due to injury.

Davey missed last Friday night's huge loss to Geelong with a bruised heel, but X-rays have since indicated he also has a stress fracture, wiping him out for the remaining three rounds.

Johnson will have surgery on an injured hip early next week.

Its sad to think what happens at the end of the season now. These Games Become a Joke-West Coke are Playing Half a side, so are we. WAKE UP AFL and give some incentive to Bottom clubs to play out a full season. People Pay Good Money For a Season Membership, not 12 Games. The Draft System is so wrong. I don't understand how HQ can leave it the way it is year after year. Beyond me

It's actually all part of an elaborate conspiracy to prevent Richmond from ever winning a Premiership. See, if 9th place got the number 1 pick, Richmond would have a team full of top 3 draft picks and would power to the flag. But you're right, the system needs to be changed.

The season ending injury list is expanding at a great rate. Here's our official list -

  • Daniel Bell (hamstring) - test
  • Aaron Davey (heel stress fracture) - season
  • Colin Garland (hamstring) - 1 week
  • Jared Rivers (abdominals/groin) - season
  • Paul Johnson (hip) - season
  • Brock McLean (ankle) - season
  • Brad Miller (hamstring) - test
  • Brent Moloney (shoulder) - season
  • David Neitz (neck) - retired
  • Russell Robertson (Achilles) - season
The smart thing to do at this stage of the season is not to bring back any of those hamstring injuries too early. If we remember back to last year, we brought players back too early and, in the end, we were severely embarassed in the pre season with too many players not coming up right even after several extra months of recuperation. As a result, a lot of our players were never 100% and we had a shocking start to this season and never recovered.

We can't afford that next year, so give the boys time to heal properly before throwing them into battle.

My motto for this week at least is:

Don't test - rest!

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh

The AFL might be reading, and knowing our luck, this year would be the year they launch a new initiative!

Take our number 1 draft pick + Priority and leave quietly.

Hush now

No thanks - no point gifting him a gig.

Better off rookie promoting Spencer if you're desperate for a new ruck debut.

I agree, Spencer was in the best. He's pretty enthusiastic. Let's take a look at him.

Hehe They won't change it this year. We will score well this year hopefully (Fingers & Toes crossed) It's just that i grew up watching Footy when the wooden spoon was just so not done. Bottom teams had epic Battles at this time of year. I want that Back again. But Fuhrer Demetrio just doesn't care. He is Just like KB (never Wrong)

Meesen is out of sorts.

Indeed - the reason I suggested that Spencer would be a better bet than Meesen if we were desperate to debut a ruckman... :)

Jamar and PJ are first-choice, with White to play if we've decided PJ's already done.

The MFC went Hard for Meeson Last year. Play Him on Saturday against Cox on the G. See where he's at. Give him a challenge. We are already on a hiding to nothing. Draft day is our next big on field assignment.

If Meeson plays well, his next Pre-season will be done with so much more confidence.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
