- Holland in for Newton

- Wonaeamirri in for Sylvia or Bate

- White in for Jamar

- Petterd in for Bartram

Can't see the point in playing Holland or White

Can't see the point in not playing Bate and Sylvia altough a run at Sandy may help

Newton might cop a suspension, if he doesn't, he can get dropped regardless. Sylvia is on very VERY thin ice.

I guess a lot will depend on the fitness of Green and Petterd, as both deserve to play if available.

Jamar will not and should not get dropped for Jeff White. White is done, and we are not in a winning position anyway (in fact, we're better off losing), so what is the point of playing him when we can develop a young ruckman instead? Bailey won't play White, Yze, Holland or Carroll until possibly Round 22, if at all, and thank god for that.

Without having seen a replay on TV, I reckon Davey has something to worry about. His brain explosion when he ironed out Thomas, with no eyes for the footy, could cost him a week or two.

Other than that, Newton out (forever), Bell out, probably Sylvia out (though I have a soft spot for him that I can't even justify to myself).

Green, Petterd and Wonna to come in.

yeah thank god for that, joking aren't you. At least those four can play the game, unlike the utterly execrable Daniel Bell and Michael Newton, who battled it out for the worst game in AFL history today. The club needs to hide these players before their trade value completely disappears and playing the old stagers would help in that role. I think they'll leave them out to make sure we dont pinch a game unnecessarily.

Davey had eyes for the ball. Won't even be cited.

I'll take your word for it mate. The only replay I saw was on the screen and from that vision it looked like he just played the man. Hopefully you're right.

Davey should be ok. He looked to try to avoid contact by going over the top of Thomas from where I sat. As for Newton, a three-year suspension may be in order.

Dunn will be suspended, no?

No way. The only person who should be worried about those reports is Maclaren. Dunn did SFA, and Harvey played it like a true oscar contender. Maclaren will get laughed at for even considering reporting either of these so called 'incidents'.

What the hell is the point of playing players who will be gone in 5 weeks, when they have no trade value, and when we're not trying to win??

Maybe you can explain it to me and Dean Bailey

I have no issues with dropping Newton or Bell, especially Newton, but I have an issue with replacing someone like Jamar with Jeff White. That to me really does go against everything we are trying to get out of this season.

He got reported??

No, but from where I was sitting he layed a pretty crude bump on an opponent in the goal square. Does he have carry-over points?

The main change I want for next week and forever after is for Bell and Buckley to not be allowed to take point kick-ins.

Can't believe Dunny didn't go to the rooms after being dragged, pull out the boxing gloves and lay a few decent reportable hits! First report, i don't know, looked like a tap of the kind that some people go for, but most people see dozens of times a game, second report laughable. First time i've seen referred pain from the chest go to the chin!

My point is why trample on the graves of those players' careers with your comments. It doesnt matter what we do, the overall skill level of the players is unsatisfactory to be a successful team and those old players deserve to at least enjoy a sendoff and I would much rather watch Yze do the odd silky thing amongst his faults and to watch Holland's decrepid frame try its heart out, than watch the putrescent attitude of Newton and the shambolic disposal the team, of which every player who cant use the football effectively by foot and make sound decisions should be purged. Had they kept Bell at Sandringham hidden we might have got something for him from an instudious club, instead other clubs will note that he has been torched by two players in the one game.

- Holland in for Newton

I honestly can't see Holland playing another game for the MFC

- Wonaeamirri in for Sylvia or Bate

I wouldn't drop Bate, but Mother Mary needs to be in this team. (hehe, like my nickname for Wonaeamirri?)

- White in for Jamar

What's the point in this? Jamar is going to be our ruckman for the next few years. Dropping him for a ruckman who is going to retire at seasons end, with only a few weeks in the season left, would be silly.

- Petterd in for Bartram

Agree on this, but could go either way.

My comments were in relation to Dean Bailey employing a REAL youth-policy, not a half-arsed one. I appreciate all that Yze, Holland and White have done for our club and like I said they may even get a token farewell game in Round 22, but thank god Bailey doesn't revert back to our NQR senior players at the very first hurdle, because that would completely defeat the purpose of developing a team for the future.

As for your comments regarding Bell, what a stupid thing to say. If Bell is not getting a game in the bottom team, he won't be getting a game anywhere else either.

Wheatley WILL play next week. (you herd it here first)

He wouldnt get a game anywhere and he shouldnt get a game here either, but if Port, who were very interested in Bell as a junior, have some degree of interest that still hasn't been eroded, that is far more likely to be retained by solid performances at Sandy than by obvious displays of notuptoitness at senior level.

But sometimes the best thing for a player to develop is for them to go back to the VFL or a lower for them to get some confidence back, or in the case of Newton and Sylvia as a means of showing that no matter how bad the team is going and how late in the year, they still need to earn their spot.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
