21 and blessed with a fair few finals appearances including a grand final! Unfortunately i've been able to see the worst of what Melbourne has to offer as well, just glad we've got a plan going forward now!

You young blokes have been spoilt with all our finals appearances in the last 20 years. I am 39 and enjoyed my first finals when I was 18! (`87, and how bittersweet it was!)

Must have been amazing to be at that game. I was living in Sydney at that stage but will never forget the feeling and excitement knowing that we were about to play finals football for the first time of my life. Beat red hot favourites Nth Melb by 20 goals and that record is still to be beaten I think. The famous footage of G lyon getting stretchered off is from that R22 match at Footscray. How handy would he have been in the Prelim against the Hawks at Waverley?? I am missing finals just thinking about it.

Round 22 '87 was the start of the best 3 weeks i can remember as far as footy goes. All the supporters of other teams were right on us-everyone wantd melb to win. The MCC Members against North the week after my Dad said was just like the '50's GF's. Those days shall return

As one of the village elders - I have seen 5 premierships and 3 losing GF's. I also have been through the pain of administrative upheavals, 1981, the AGM's of the 70's & 80's where money was regularly [censored] up against the wall, Templeton, and the unparalleled ineptitude of GS. We have been in trouble so many times, except for a man who bled for the R & B - Stuey Spencer who, with a tough uncompromising coach, pulled us out of the mire for a while. But another little bleeder in the used car business, who as a coach turned victory into defeat countless times,

brought us back into it. The assassination of Joe Gutnick by GS ( he who cannot be named in case of a rerun).

The top hat brigade were only good for this club when they didn't have to actually put much of the their money into the club. They still occasionally dine at the 'G. And we're stuck with their stereotype.

Jimmy the legendary, who spoke about embracing immigrants MUST get rid of our stereotype.

I am 36. I have 2 sons who are footy mad, 7 and 8 who choose to support the Dees in order to continue their current accommodation arrangements. Both tell me that they will play for Melbourne.

Just wanted to get a gauge on our supporters ages...

I’m am a 22 year old that lives in Tasmania but struggle to find many Melbourne supporters but very rarely find another young Melbourne supporter...

Obviously not all our supporters visit Demonland but i get the opinion that we are struggling to recruit youngsters to support the Red and the Blue....

I know when I have kids they will be fully paid Demon members or they will be disowned!!!!

I've watched the replay on tape of the last game out at the Western Oval thousands of times. I loved the bit when Brian Wilson chased a Footscray player all the way down the wing then it turned over and he ran all the way back with the ball and kicked the sealer. The commentator shouts 'Cover yourself in glory son!' and they show the crowd behind the goals and they're jumping around like it's the FA Cup final. The excitement around the club must've been amazing during that time.

As far as I'm concerned, in my time, 98 was the one that got away. Smashed Adelaide and St Kilda then went down to North on a cold, dewey friday night. If we'd got them on a fast track we would've beaten them. Then Adelaide won the flag after we'd beaten them by ten goals a couple of weeks earlier. Malcolm Blight said in an interview after the match that he was most worried about Melbourne.

I'm looking forward to the day Brock Mclean and Deano hold the premiership cup aloft.

I have a 1 year old son who's heart beats true for the Red & Blue. I have another on the way, so put that down as another member for next season! (Doin my part for the Membership numbers. Why isn't everyone else doing this? haha)

I was there Harry, with my old man at the Geelong Road Half Forward Flank/Pocket city side. Garry Lyon broke his leg right in front of me. It was exciting with every Dees supporter around me with their Trannies listening to the other games esp. Geel v Haw game. 1987 was definitely a 'hell' of a year.

Yes. Kangaroos played too good that night. We had G.Lyon, Ox, Neita and Farmer all in the forward line, guys like Archer, Adam Simpson, Anthony Stevens played extremely well.

I was behind those Goals when the crowd went ape droppings Harry (& they did!) "Cover yourself in glory son" Brian Wilson did that day- what a run. Listen closely in the Last Q. The geelong train goes by and blows its horn, and the crowd for a moment thought it was the siren- classic. 6 games on a saturday arvo. Bring it Back.....
