Watch out for Whispering's take on the top draft hopefuls after the national carnival - coming soon.

A few names I noticed from the under 18 carnival.

Ranga Edwickrama - excellent pace

Tom Lynch - Strong marking forward, presents well and would be the perfect foil for Bate (dead set ringa)

Tom Scully - Small forward with reasonable pace, silky skills and plenty of nous.

Clinton Garlett - Pacy and versatile, can win his own ball.

Ryan Harwood - Again excellent at winning his own ball, found space and delivered the ball well.

Aaron Cornelius - Exellent overhead mark and great pace on the lead, reminded me of a junior Robbo.

The best for mine was Michael Hurley. It's not very often you see a dominant BOG display from a full back, but he owned the game he played at Casey Fields. Keep your eyes out for him.

its a top 10 FOR THE CARNIVAL, not his top 10 overall.

Thanks for the caps, we may have missed your point otherwise.

Stephen Hill (WA) and Mitch Banner (VIC M) were two that caught my eye outside of the popular trio in Natanui, Watts and Rich.

certainly will

given we will in all likely hood finish 15th then our first pick isnt too far out of the known.

That we will also likley have picks 18 and/or 21 then this part of the bunch becomes very interesting..VERY !!

I watched alot of Lewis Johnston, saw him in person on the Wednesday, I think he'll be one to struggle to transition; people are rating him far too highly.

Strange NikNat thought S Hill was best player of the carnival or WA or whatever it was.

Let’s get Lewis Johnston. Instead of Watts

This way we get a key forward then with picks 1-3(what ever we get) we take NAt or rich

Johnston is under age so he will still develop.

If he’s in the top 10 this year imagine what he'll be if he wasn’t picked this year and went through to next year

He won't make top 20. Also, he's not in the same class as watts. Nowhere near it.

I'd be surprised if he didnt make the top 20, but prob have to see his testing to know, cause I thought he looked a pretty good, well-rounded forward with a bit of x-factor

Maybe 15-20, but I think more 20-25. Moves nicely, but there's a fair bit of 'if and maybes' about him. I don't see a dominant key forward, more a lively roaming tall. He does have some x factor, but he's definitely not top 10.

Maybe it's the hair.

I liked the look of Zaharakis. Not sure why, but just stood out to me for some reason.

Tend to agree.

Has all the necessary ability to make it but his demeanor doesn't strike me as one that will cope with the pressures of AFL

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
