Don't forget Grimes, and even Petterd.

Grimes poss', is noted in the middle as a hard type but would like to know if he wins a lot of contested football?

Pettard from what of i've seen of him looks more suited to carrying the ball.

I'd like to get a ball magnet who is damaging either by handball or carrying & kicking.

I haven't seen any of them.

Doesnt Rich have question marks over his speed?

My choice will have to wait untill the carnival and the big decider - Robbie Warnock. If we get him, i would pick Watts/Rich.

All depends where we finish too.

a mister R .Warnock, most valid point so far

Yes, he gets a fair bit of it. I remember back to last years championships, where Cale got the most possessions, then followed by Rhys Palmer and Grimes closely behind him. Plus he got a fair bit of it for the Northern Knights too. Contested possessions are always going to be be fewer than Un-cont, but he likes it in the guts and is tough.

That would be Prismall. Gets plenty of it, can play inside/outside and has very decent disposal.

If we finish last, get Prismall in the pre-season draft with pick 1 and trade our 3rd round pick for Rob Warnock...........Cooking with gas.

After watching the u18 champs today i would definitely take Watts. Didn't star but is very classy and his 2nd efforts are terrific. Tall, quick, athletic, and very smart.

Thanks for that D D, thats encouraging about Grimesy, ->>>

so that is IN/OUTSIDE players then seems we have Grimes, Mclean?, poss Buckley?, ,,,still room for more class here....

Tall Forwards,- we need to replace the hardness of Neitz. Newton to me lacks the hit 'em hard approach, so I think we have to rely on Miller here. He needs help in the Tall (Physical) Forward stakes..

Newton to me looks the tall roaming forward like a tarrant or similar off half forward.

Talk of Natanui being a marketing machine is quadswopple. Any player taken with the amount of talent Watts has will be the marketing machine we need.

The only query I have with Watts is whether he will continue to play for his school or have a crack at AFL aka Xav Ellis and Luke Ball.

Newton's so 'roaming' he may as well sit in the GSS and eat a pie.

Not part of any serious crack we have at our next flag.

No idea how you can say that with any real basis, just on the handfull of games the lads played. He's a forward & warrants more time given to the coaching staff to get him turned in the right direction.

I think I read somewhere that Watts is committed to finishing year 12 next year, and will stay in Melbourne to do so even if he gets picked up by a W.A. team.

Similar to what young Crow Patrick Dangerfield is doing.

I would take Watts, should we decide we want a ruckman then it will be Naitinui.

I am wary of this Jack Watts. Fergus Watts is an individual that comes to mind. DOMINANT and STRONG at APS LEVEL but now ruuning around with Collegians in the Amateurs.

They're not Brothers, but even if they were, have you heard of Jim and Brian Stynes, Stephen and David Kernahan, Todd and Jay Viney, Stan and Mark Alves, Robert and Tom Flower, Darren and Damien Gaspar, and many many more...

In fact, how many AFL players have Brothers, or do you think they're all only children ?

I don't know where you got the idea that I was inferring that they were related. The surname is incidental. I was comparing them in terms of stature and style of play, one played for Wesley College and the other plays for Brighton Grammar. What I am questioning is the strength of APS football compared to other organisations.

The APS is a pretty strong brand of junior footy and he also plays with the Sandy Dragons.

What other "organisations" do you prefer ?

TAC and equivalents across the states and territories. Not saying that the notion of the TAC is stronger than the APS is sacrosanct though.

I haven't voted yet and probably won't until after the carnival and draft camp. Up until now I've been in the Naitanui camp, however I'm begining to change my mind. There are a couple of very, very good mids in this draft and then there's Watt. I have my concerns over the latter, mainly that we haven't seen too many 'great' games from him, but if he continues to perform for the rest of the season then it would be hard to go past him.

At this stage I'd be happy to get Watt, Rich or Hartlett with our pick, regardless of whether it's 1, 2 or 3.

Jack Watts is a gun, yet so too is Naitanui

all i can say is that we should be worrying about the number 1 pick. Winning games like we did on the weekend against Brisbane gives the club a far better image..going into games to win them. Whether we get pick 1 or pick 3 we are going to get someone good..and there isnt a difference. It's all about teaching the kid what to do, and how to play AFL football, and bailey will do that.

But then there's your Danihers, Mortons, Selwoods etc

Poll is so close! Question: Why have 8 votes not been counted?

Amazing to think that one less win in 2007, and we could have them both.

Anyway, bring on trade week and the draft.

Veteran Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin returned to the training track to bring you the following observations from Gosch's Paddock this morning. Beautiful morning for training. The dew has dried, out from AAMI, quiet chatting. Maysie does his heart symbol. 7 in rehab, Turner, Hore, Sestan, BBB, Petty, Spargo and Schache. All in runners. Melky weighted and change of angles work. Salem has his individual program. White cap (no contact), Howes, Woewodin and Sparrow

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
