Crowd increase after half time

Definitely noticed it.

I was telling dad before the game this will be the lowest turnout in a long long time.

People definitely were confused with the 1pm start. Next time this happens we need to better inform supporters. I myself wouldn't have bothered checking the start time, and I only knew it was a 1pm game because someone mentioned it on Demonland.

no worries ;)

16,000

and they were signing up members at a rapid pace. Really felt a great buzz today. To have a visible president amongst the crowd was great. We mightn't be the biggest supporter base but we're doing alright. When you look at the likes of Stynes, Bailey, Connolly, the new board, the players and of course all of us it makes you realise that it'll come good. In a way it took the club too long to admit to it's miriad of problems. Now that's been done when can get on with getting back to the top where we belong. Go you mighty Demons!!!

P.S. Don't sweat on draft picks we'll get a gun, probably 2 so just let thimgs pan out. I'm feeling that the footy gods are swinging back our way.

By the way, Jimmy's bringing the Demon back!!

No. He already brought it back today! Fantastic. 23,200. That's ok. There were only 147 Brisbane fans. The break even was between 20,400 and 21,000. So we made a small profit. Jimmy was hoarse after the game.

I got to the game late, about 1:20, and there were still cars trying to get into the ground, all the way banked up past The Hilton.

I would think that the turnout from our supporters was about the same as for the Fremantle game. So perhaps roughly 18k Melbourne, 5k Fitzroy/Brisbane? The MCC's estimate of 20,000 was just a touch conservative, but, understandably so.

However, the Bulldogs pulled 39,320 vs Brisbane (Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday, 14th June, 2008).

Only one of ours comparable to that would be vs West Coast (35,653 at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday, 18th June, 2005). Both teams flying at that stage.

Or if you count the Sydney one a while back that was some sort of Tony Lockett milestone (52,614 at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Monday night, 24th August, 1998).

23,278 people turned up yesterday and to quote this mornings paper;

"The crowd was so loud as Brad Green surged towards goal ......." and, "The siren could not be heard in the press box..."

They are even questioning if the sirens are loud enough - with a crowd of 23,278. And Demetriou, the [censored], questions Melbourne supporters passion.

Something that gets me is that 23,278 turn up to watch the bottom side playing a top 8 side fom interstate. It is a freezing, rainy, miserable Sunday and by all 'experts' accounts, Melbourne are going to get flogged.

But, go back to Friday night, a beautiful still, dry evening and start of school holidays - a perfect night for footy. The 3rd placed and in form team Hawthorn are playing a home game against the 2nd last team, also from interstate - great incentive for their supporters to turn up and watch their team [censored] the opposition, but they get a crowd of 29,000.

Hawthorn have over 40,000 members to our over 28,000 yet they only get 6,000 more people to their game - why are Hawthorns supporters passion & committment not questioned by the AFL?

Go Dee's

Do Dee's

Yep, thats right Mr.Moose, we are Do Dee's, and the Dork's are Do Doo's

The 1:10 start is brilliant for a Sunday - allows for a few cheeky beers afterwards and you are home in daylight, especially on a school night!!

Vlad or Mr Mediastreet needs to concentrate on the game of footy, rather than the Demons! Jimmy Stynes and co are working hard behind the scenes to ensure that there is a shirt term but more importantly a long term strategy for this great club!!

Our crowd yesterday was not too bad but emphasised the passion that we have as a group and the pride we have in our club!!

The greatest problem at the moment is the standard of umpiring and the frustration of supporters, players and the general football community. The interpretation is amazing and whoever number 26 is, well...

let's continue to resurgence by large crowd numbers!!

It's not just the AFL - plenty of fans on here and Demonology take a crack at the 'fickle' Demons supporters.

We may have less supporters, but I don't see how Demons supporters are any more fickle than those of many other sides.

People need to start checking the times for Sunday games - only one of the three Sunday games will be a traditional 2pm start. There will pretty much always be a game starting 1pm and 4pm EST to be shown on Foxtel, and given our current standing in the scheme of things, we are more than likely to be one of those timeslots.

Fwiw, the rest of our Sunday games in Vic are at 2:10.

Our ratio of passionate to bandwagon supporters is probably the best in the AFL, but we need to get the size of our whole supporter base bigger. Something that Big Jimmy has already singled out as the key to our long term future.

Slightly off topic, we a bit more then slightly.

After the game, Jamar came running towards our part of the ground (M16). A few of us were yelling to him but he just ignored us, then they started the high 5's around the ground, from about M13 right around to the other side where they go back to the rooms. No one came near us, reserved MFC member seats, not AFL reserve wheich is the next aisle over. WHY???

They budgeted for 22,000.

That's a profit then. 29,000 members nearly signed. Go Dees!

We must Remember one thing. Right Now this Club is almost starting again so we are going to have the crap Fixture schedule and small crowds. But we now have Good People. I was always an ND Fan, I think he did a Mighty job with the Resources he had. But i have a lot of Faith in DB. Not once has he Flinched this year. He Knows where he wants to go. If Stynesy can get this Debt initiative going next week, and the playing group keeps playing exciting Footy like Sunday- The Crowds will come. Just get as many Friends or Relatives to the games in the next 8 weeks. I am actually a happy Supporter this year. I can see Big Changes actually Happening, & not just Band aids like Before. Lets Go

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
