Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

The Walk

Great effort by the MFC, that flag giveaway worked a treat, a great sight.

The day has helped create a convert, my Queensland rugby union mate has now declared his allegiance to the Red & the Blue.

Suggest we make the march a bi-annual event...our first home game of the year and QB as well.

I thought that the Red & Blue army walk was an absolutely fantastic idea! Giving out the free (people love things which are free!) MELBOURNEfc flags was sheer brilliance! It was quite a site watching all this red and blue traveling towards the MCG. It was a bit like a political rally or something.

My only criticism is that it wasn't advertised enough! I talked to a few Melbourne supporters during the game and they didn't even know about the Red & Blue army walk..and if they did they did not know when it started and unfortunately missed it. I think if the MFC does something like this again it is CRUCIAL to advertise it better! There needed to be advertisements about it in ALL the major newspapers the day before with all the details included.

Though it has been on the MFC website for months, I do agree that something in the papers would have been good.

I'm not 100% sure (beer goggles were on that night!) but I don't remember seeing anything on the Footy Show either - that's the perfect medium for these types of announcements, though from what I remember we were on very late anyway.

Sensational!! Travelled from Canberra for the event, and my heart was bursting with pride to be part of it. Congratulations to the footy club and supporters who participated.

Was awesome and was great to see David Shwartz there as well.

Noticed in the SEN tent that David's young bloke had the Demons guernsey on with Number 5 on the back, despite not being at a club function for 6 odd years suggest he's got the family in the correct footy direction despite his works with the Dogs.

Yeah, that was a nice touch. Looking towards the 'G from Fed Square, it was a mass of red and blue snaking its way down the path.

I thought the gates opened at ~12. It's only a short walk from Fed Square to the 'G.

please dont rub more salt in the wounds...it looked absolutely fantastic and it is a shame i didnt do it...these things are so good for club spirit.

the MCC opens earlier than the normal gates and thats where i sat

Did anyone else think it needed more photos?

hell yeah...

when i saw the red and blue brigade arrive at the MCG with all of those flags, it was a tremendous sight...

especially when chris conolly and DB walked straight passed me and the band were playing those songs, it was very spirited and the more photo and video footage, the better it can be advertised...there is nothing like a big group of people supporting the same team and it does not happen enough for melbourne

I meant photos that were part of the Age's 'exhibition', which were present on the route to the 'G, not photos of some people walking along :)

PS. Don't MCC reserve gates only open 10 mins before other gates for day games? Should have been there!

how come stephen tingay and andy lovell never come to these sorts of things or never get mentioned, i thought they both did a great job for melbourne when they we're playing for us

I don't know if/why they don't come to 'these sort of things', but I'm pretty sure Tingay was on the list of 150 heroes. Lovell probably was too.

There were many loyal red & blue supporters and many past players as well as the younger platers who are on the list. Was very successful together with the heroes walking around the G before the game and them lining up for the team to run through was great also. Well done to MFC and sgould have been 1 or 2 more events for the average MFC supporters planned for this year. Good weekend in all snses -ther than didn't get the points.

We were especially pleased to be able to find a long time family friend to take the actual walk with who was one of the MFC heroes. Dick Fenton Smith is now in his 70s and is a dual premiership player and was a member of our best every side - 1958 one which should have won the flag. It was great for our former players to be saluted and to mix with the younger players so the current guys understand much more about the pride in the jumper that they play for. It nice to be able to personally congratulate the friends when they get a gong and spend part of a special day for them especially.

It was also a very visual signal to all at AFL house and to the Demon fans who were not there that our club has real spirit and is worth fighting for. My boys will always remember it!

Well done MFC.!!!

Interestingly I read in the footy record that Stinga has recently been hired as the weights coach at St Kilda

Andy and Stinga were both at the 150 heroe's dinner and Andy participated in the walk also.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
