Queens Birthday Changes vs Pies

Mousey

Recommended Posts

Well i dont know about many but i am facing the fact that its going to be a long year indeed and we are rebuilding and developing young players, so i dont mind us losing games for us to get a good draft pick (fingers crossed perrsonally for Naita) but this mondays Queen of Birthday game is like a final on itself usually for me and i love watching and cheering every minute of the game...i have a sense of pride for this game.

What is everyones thoughts for their ins and outs?

I think we should bring in a lot of guys to make their debut, lets just see what happens to them on the bigstage in a big crowd, that includes Maric and if Grimes is right bring Grimes up.

Now robbo will be put on the long term injury list wont he?

Valenti would be the obvious choice to be elevated for good? but due to the fact our forward line is just simply pathetic, lets take a risk....bring on the Zomertron?

Trent Zomer? At least he will be a target to kick too!!!

John Meesen? Lets see what he can do?

We might as well !!?

I want to see Grimes play this year too but at the moment he cannot by definition be match fit.

And Mousey...Whispering Jack is a guru.

He is Master Po...we are mere Grasshoppers.

Brock (nose) and Robbo (Achilles) will be out due to injury, and Bate's a possible omission as well with his hand.

Rivers and Carroll are available for this week, i don't know about Whelan but if he's available surely he'd be straight back in. Valenti and Holland were unlucky to be dropped last wee, and Bails did flag a possible return for Newton. Can someone tell me what the severity with Davey's injury, i'd love him to be back but only if he's fully fit.

My Ins:

Valenti, Holland, Rivers, Maric, (Newton, if Bate injured)

Outs:

Brock, Robbo, Frawley, Buckley, (Bate, if injured)

Davey stated he's a 80-90% chance to play QB, so assume he's in.

Holland in to play forward (and possibly cover Rocca if Warnock struggles)

Garland on Medhurst

Rivers in to cover Cloke

Bell out

Whelan in to play on Davis

Davey back in

Bartram and Buckley back to Sandy

OUT: Robbo, Bartram, Bell, Buckley

IN: Rivers, Holland, Davey, Whelan

Valenti in if McLean doesn't get up, Newton for Bate.

In:

Rivers (best 22),

Newton or Holland

CJ (sandy form has warranted it),

Davey (best 22),

Morton (already best 22)

Out: Bell, Dunn, Robbo (inj), Yze, Frawley.

Other changes should happen but no way will 5 get dropped.

I'd like to see...

In: Davey, C Johnson, Martin, Morton, Newton, Rivers, Valenti

Out: Robertson (inj), Bartram, Bell, Bruce, Dunn, White, Yze

Its frightening that none of our experienced players are performing and we are now missing Neitz, Robertson and still possibly Whelan ( I have given up prediciting his return).

That was without doubt our worst game of this year. St. Kilda are crap too. There were countless times when St. Kilda performed a CMB (Classic Melbourne Botch). You tag Gram and he won't get a kick and Ball, Dal Santo, Hayes and Riewoldt are the only blokes that keep their heads above water.

gees i hope Brock can play this week, and Davey. Otherwise we will lose by 200 points

I hope so too, but The Age had him listed as 1 week out. I would love Davey back as well, he has become the spark of the Dees again, he and Aussie work really well off each other.

I'd like to see that sort of thing as well... we have to look towards the future. We are at the half-way mark of the season, and there are some decisions that will have to be made at the seasons end in regard to who to keep, and who goes. Bring C. Johnson in for the last 12-games to see if he is up to it. How can you evaluate a blokes ability at AFL level, when he is sitting in the stands each week?

Also bring the likes of Meesen, Martin, Newton, Valenti and Maric in... these are the future and we have to get them in eventually, what better way to do it than in front of 60,000-70,000 for the Queens Birthday??? If we lose by 100-points with a young side, then so be it. What have you lost other than some percentage and 4-points??? The kids will be better for the experience with some league football under their belt's... but it frustrates me when we go for the older names like Holland, White, Yze, etc. and still lose by 60+ points.

Nothing against any of those older blokes, they have been incredible servants for our club... but we have to look at the premiership clock, and I think that by the time we reach "premiership o'clock", the older blokes I have mentioned will be watching on well into retirement.

Outs:

Robbo - very sad

Bell - not showing enough

Yze - enough said

Dunn - Doesn't cut it

Ins:

Davey - if fit, if not Maric

Rivers - badly missed

Morton - better off for the rest, will relish a game at the G with 50,000

Holland - Can do the job on Rocca whilst Rivers sweeps or provide a foward target for small forwards

As much as I'm keen to see Bell come back to last years form and play some good footy...I'd suggest we plump for Matty Whelan this time

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
