MFC Member and Supporter Survey

Anyone else do it ?

Bit like playing mastermind in reverse !! lol ,Still got me thinking as to what they were trying to establish as benchmarks . what were the given's and what possibilities might come as a result.

Given it was done on behalf of the AFL it seems it could give some insight as to what their collective minutae are thinking.

These are just some themes that seemd to run through it .

Posibility of..

A generally available cheaper membership. Possibly to entice numbers.

Some memberships with limited games..but discounts all over the place to various things including other h/a games.

Paid public transport in your tickets ( not a big winner for us if there al lbloody sunday !!)

Tickets for guests..( quite intereting that one )

but one I didnt particularly like..was a recurring option of memberships without voting rights..call me paranoid !!

me thinks more options are coming for season 09.

anyone else take anything away from the survey??

just curious :)

my survey was only like 4 questions long... i assume it was because I am a concession member... once i answered this question it said thankyou for completing the survey, which i thought was quite strange...

Yeah i got ruled out also. I thought perhaps it was a survey targeted at supporters rather then members, but propably not seeing bb59 got through.

Not sure why we didn't make in vanlo.

I was in the same boat... Had a vague feeling it said 25-30 minutes to complete but was done in 2. I ticked the "other" box for membership and that was the end of me... Clearly not the intended market.

For those that got the short version see last point below.

Which of the following best describes you?

* I am a current member of the Melbourne Football Club

I was a member of the Melbourne Football Club in a previous year

I have never been a member of the Melbourne Football Club, but I am a supporter

Do you?

*Support the Melbourne Football Club

Support another AFL team

Do not support a specific AFL team

Which type of membership do you currently hold?

*Adult membership

Country/interstate/overseas membership

Concession membership

Family membership

My 3 year old grandson received an email invitation to take part in the survey. He hasn't taken up the option yet but I'm sure he will consider it as soon as he learns to read.

Maybe I can take his place, I didnt receive one. Must have only been a select few, but you would have thought they would have selected those who could meet their criteria.

Same thing happened here. I guess the MFC just doesn't appreciate the input of Concession members.

I managed to get through it. Good to see the club being pro active and hearing our thoughts. They are obviously desperate to find out the best way of attracting more members and retaining the current ones but I `d reckon it would cost them a bit to do this survey!!

Can you run through what the MFC was asking for in this survey for those who didn't get to have their say...

It was very long and involved, and basically involved 12 scenarios where you were asked to compare three categories of membership and choose the one that was most appealing.

The benefits provided by the three categories changed in each of the 12 scenarios, as did their cost. I guess they were trying to work out what type of membership appealed to what sort of member, and what different options they could add. There was no real common thread through the survey - the theoretical memberships outlined were very different in each case.

Bub, the absence of voting rights on some membership options was a concern for me too. I told them at the end of the survey that as I am an MCC member, the voting rights for the MFC is the single most important part of the membership for me. I also implored them to retain the MCC/MFC membership.

Titan, don't fret too much about not getting to complete the full survey. As others have said, collating all the data from these responses would be very expensive and I suggest the club is trying to be as targeted as possible with who it sends the survey to.

i also thinks its great they're being pro-active and tossing up lots of new ideas for ways to enhance memberships

one problem i had doing it...they rarely compared memberships with the same amount of entry to games

when given a choice of a 16game membership vs. any lesser amount, i would always pick the one with the more games irrespective of any of the add-ons they provided on the lesser game memberships

i thought they could've had one question where all three choices had the same amount of games, so people could determine which options or add-ons they preferred

that all said, i know nothing about statistics or market research

I completed the survey too....all the types of memberships were confusing to say the least. I would to attend as many games I attend now or more....simple

  • 2 weeks later...

I only just did this survey, but I thought it was a joke.

There were $700 memberships that only got you into two games. It was all over the place.

It's the same way they come up with stuff saying "Our survey showed that the members didn't want a scarf in 2008" when the members did.

One of the questions you rank how important five things are to being a member - getting a card with how many years you've been a member, having a guided tour of the mcg with players, post match functions, discounts at the demon shop (I'm sorry MelbourneFC Shop, no Demon) and something else.

Ranking them 1-5 I wanted to give them 5-5-5-5-5.

I want access to games, priority access to finals tickets, and my scarf. That'll do!

Where's the box to say that?

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
