Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's great to see our players doing a little extra before the official start to pre-season.  Listening to the speeches at the B&F it sounded like this is the standard they are hoping to set with our squad.  Don't just do the official training sessions, go out and work on your own as well.

Of course, if they want the players to do more than the official work-outs and training sessions, they could just add more to the official workload rather than hinting that they want more but not outright saying so.  Maybe they have limits imposed by the AFL on how much they can require of the players?

This is industry standard for successful teams.

Luke Hodge was just on SEN, said that after their first premiership they celebrated for 6 weeks, but it should've only been 3.  They missed the finals the following year.  But that's 3 weeks for winning a flag.

I wonder how many of our blokes downed tools for 2+ weeks this preseason.  I'm all for having a spell, but it's what you do in that spell that can take you from being good to being great.

Careful Mr. Leg that might be viewed as derailed the thread!!!

Well let's get back on the right track. I haven't seen much in Dion yet but he has time to develop under our better run FD and stronger list.

A common thread of successful athletes at the national and international level is that they are self starters and self motivated and they keep themselves in good shape the whole year, they don't go on benders out of season and do not get out of shape.  Their self discipline applies to their physical condition and what they eat and drink.

I hope you are right but to be honest I am sceptical , have yet to see anything that suggests an AFL talent.

They are told to rest the body for a couple of weeks and then back into it

Harmes Trac and Dom Tyson have been in the US but couple of pics of training sessions over there

Gee OD, you are certainly living up to your moniker lately

DJ is a young kid , we have time to develop them properly now, he is really good at pressure and tackling, his goal kicking was letting him down, so that is one area he is working on, spoke to him

Jeff's set shot kicking was getting ropey as well coz he was over thinking it, I asked, he went back to a simpler set up and it improved last year I am sure he can help DJ is this area

This is the exciting bit for me, we will add 4 more, but we have only scratched the surface on the talent our young players have, some may turn out to be busts, but given time who knows?

Harmes and ANB come to mind as 2 who were considered 'list cloggers' but with confidence, proper development and game time turned into solid AFL players and still early 20's

Nice to hear Saty I hope you are right I have no desire to see anyone fail.

Just giving my opinion from what I have seen.

PS I have never used the words "list cloggers" and yes I know you were not saying I had. It is offensive just like the word "Spud"

That's right, rest the body, and it needs resting.  But it's the extent that some rest the liver, that's the point Hodge was talking about.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
