It would be great if he made a statement like Viney and sign early but he still has some way to go until the end of next year.

If he leaves then I'd say that his ability to think is worse than his goal kicking run up.

I find Lapsang Souchong tea leaves in a translucent  eggshell porcelain tea cup best for tea leaf reading.  The pungent smoky aroma  goes hand in hand with  all the smoke and mirrors of trade talk.

No interest until it's confirmed his signed or isn't going to.

You could go mad worrying about this otherwise. Scully, Rivers, Frawley, Howe have all taught me not to worry. So far we've ended up better off in the end.

Hogan might be irreplaceable but I have confidence PJ and Mahoney won't stuff the Club by paying overs and if he walks it will be for an offer too good to refuse and too overs to match. I shudder to think we apparently offered Scully $700,000 a year to stay all those years ago. He left, we saved the money and got Hogan. I was happy in the end, not at the beginning.

If he stays which I expect, fantastic! If he goes I'll look forward to the trade. 2 guns for one.

Reckon we'll be fine here, but it doesn't seem to be about our improvement anymore. We've clearly shown improvement, so it's simply down to Jesse now.

Just listening to the Herald Sun trade podcast with Jay Clark, Sam Landsberger and Gilbert Gardiner. Clark, who has written a number of Hogan articles this week, and who I actually think is one of the more reliable HS journos says he thinks from his information now that he is "98% sure" that Hogan signs a new deal with Melbourne.

Obviously not saying it's gospel, just that it's a different narrative than when every single media outlet reported that Scully was a goner from months out. Worth a listen from the 5.25 mark...

Is erryone forgetting he's contracted till end of next year??

Nobodys forgetting that Jacko, but you'd think something will happen this year.

Either he signs a new deal in the off-season or tells the club he wants to go home. If he wants to go home it's in our best interests to trade him at the end of this season, when freo will be able to start their offer with a top 5 pick than next when they'll probably have moved up the ladder.

Commence the austromancy! And the spatilomancy!

If this gets any worse, it'll become geloscopy.

Let's do it in diagrams -

Hogan's expectations -------------> contract! <-------------- Club's expectations

If you have information to provide about either of these factors, talk on!

Otherwise. Shh.

While I like the optimism from Clark I don't get how you can put a percentage on knowing a player is staying. You either know he's staying or leaving or you don't know.

Wasn't the Ox 98% sure about Scully?

With no off field player issues, no crap club management to complain about, no crap recruiting to lament, no tanking dramas or [censored] tribunal decisions,  Demonland is in the midst of self imposed hysteria over a player who has a season and a half to play before he can walk out.

I understand why everyone is worried/ interested, but still makes me chuckle a little.

It would be a massive setback should he leave, but for once the team looks like we don’t rely on just a handful of players. Plus,  If he was to leave or request a trade we’d be holding a handful of aces to get pretty much whatever we wanted from an opposition club!

I like the name of this thread. It will surely be a panic by us if he doesn't re-sign by year's end.

Should Hogan be made to take some responsibility for inducing panic?

Course you can. From all his sources the information he's got is that Jesse will stay, but he's covering himself with the 2% being if something unforeseen happens - Dees lose every game for the rest of the season, Jesse finds himself a girl from Perth etc.

The only people making any suggestions that he's going back to Perth are.... from Perth.  Of course they'll take that narrative, it sells.

Still no doubt in my mind he'll stay.

Agree with that first paragraph Wise.

Wish I could share the unequivocalness  of your belief in your second, but do think and hope he's likely to.

I understand that.  Everyone approaches it differently and there is nothing wrong with that.

What does annoy me is when supporters over analyse everything and turn anything reported on in to a negative.  In the age of social media, news reports everywhere etc. it's easy to read too much into things.  I trust the club, and Jesse, to get things done and bring sustained success for years to come.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
