  1. he's a frustrating player Bate. When he's in the VFL and he plays in the midfield he seems to run ragged but when he takes the next step up to AFL level he seems to go missing!
  2. McCartney has already said that the bulldogs are not interested in participating in the FA/trade period, focusing on the draft this year
  3. there is always a chance but as FD said it is the slimmest! I really can't see buddy leaving hawthorn for anything as he would no doubt already be on a very healthy deal atm and he has great success ahead of him at the hawks. Money is always a factor as to why someone may leave a club but many times it would not always be the only draw card. Buddy would be a super get if we were to get him, one of the best in history, but very unlikely to happen. Wouldn't hurt to chase him next year though as we would have nothing to lose
  4. If collingwood have added Q lynch to their stocks then i wouldn't be surprised if Dawes was to be pushed out. He showed a year or so ago that he can play, he was right along side cloke as their big forwards! He is just down on confidence and when that comes back i would expect him to return to his previous form and be a consistently accurate goal kicker would be nice to get him if this does happen
  5. he wouldn't be a great loss, he's been on our list for 3-4 years and is as skinny as he ever was! If there was any time that he could've cemented a place in our team it was this year and he couldn't even get a game! surely he's gone
  6. i could never understand why we got rid of him in the first place! i always thought he was a decent player.
  7. dawes is just in poor form. A year or so ago he was a very accurate kick for goal and was right along side cloke as their big forwards! everyone from collingwood that play along side him cannot praise him enough for his work rate, he could have a turn around like clark did this season! i don't think he would be as good as clark but he would be a decent pick up
  8. With all our new appointments this year this should change plus we apparently have collingwoods recruitment manager coming across to us after the draft so things can only get better!
  9. games with GWS and GC don't interest people. When these sides start to improve i think we will see the crowd numbers go up as the games won't be so one sided. This was probably always going to be a trade off bringing in 2 new frachises back to back. Foxtel doesn't help things either!
  10. I really don't like him as a player. From what i see, i think he is just a spud, turns it over all the time and i think he is just a nothing player. no for me
  11. i'm on the fence with Rodan. He would add some serious pace to our list which we badly need, but he is an aging player so probably wouldn't be on our list for too many years and his knee is also a worry, not sure if he is worth the risk and why does the article say that Rivers is a former defender for us!?!? he hasn't said he is leaving has he? i thought he was only checking what was out there?
  12. If he did have a reliable action i think there would be no limits to what he could achieve, but he is what he is and i can't see that changing, he is a unique player and there will be very few who will ever achieve what he has/can!
  13. I don't understand where our punishment comes into this article??? isn't it just saying that nobody is being given compo picks for a poor season this year?
  14. Unless the club say that they have not offered him something then i don't think you can say that!
  15. I feel, as you said fast spreading midfielders are definitely a big part we are missing. Wellingham would definitely be a nice get, lets hope its true We have some good inside midfielders (jones, mckenzie) and with Viney to be added to that i think we have a good platform in that area, we just need someone for them to give it to. We also need a KPF along side clark. Lynch, i think would fit this perfectly but he is getting too old but someone like him would be a good get. We also need to add a small, fast, crumbing forward and brynes is seemingly headed for us so that fills that hole, although he is getting on in ages too but he can add experience as to what it takes to play in premierships and he will be very handy. Will be interesting to see how we go in the FA/trade period and hopefully it lives up to all the hype
  16. Gys is defnitely a keeper. Had he not had an injury interrupted year then i think he would've been in our side for the majority of the season. Yes he probably doesn't have the fitness required to be a consistent player in the AFL yet but he showed us all what he is capable of when he debuted for us against geelong and a few games after, he just needs to have a bit of luck with no injury this year and this will make his confidence grow. hopefully he stays and doesn't go to geelong!
  17. heres a link to an article regarding watts during rnds 8-10. hope it helps http://www.afl.com.a...x?newsid=137779
  18. i'd like to think both jones and Sylvia fit in as 'goal kicking mids'
  19. Thats what the draft and trade period is for. i'm hoping that with the changes to coaching staff and others in the club we can change our fortunes in the draft and not pick duds! if we do well then there is no reason why we can't get 7-10 wins next season
  20. like the sound of tha DrD i still think trading martin would come back to bite us though!
  21. yeah 9th or 10th would be great. I really feel as though if we play this trade period and draft smartly we can turn things around very quickly also bringing in players from other clubs will bring in their knowledge of how hard you have to work in AFL to cut it and it may give some of our young players a reality check. It would be nice to get caddy, but if not there are always others out there! but hey, we can always dream
  22. I don't think it really matters if they develop into another Kennedy or not, they may become B graders or something similar and premiership teams (I know this is obviously a while away) are nothing without these sorts of players supporting their guns!
  23. the players during the season have shown that they're getting the hang of the game plan and are getting fitter. With another preseason under neeld and the other new coaching staff, along with a few new recruits (brynes, caddy, wellingham, possibly others) and some top notch draft picks i think we will see the team raise themselves to about 10-12th and about 8ish wins. I think this is a fairly realistic expectation provided everything i said above actually happens.
  24. i was thinking the same thing after reading a number of posts Aloso atm i think he doesn't seem to be as good as he probably is because he has to compete with the likes of pendelbury, swan, beams and sidebottom! This is a pretty tall ask and naturally these players will get more opportunity as they're currently better players. If he was to play with us then he would be given every opportuinity to grow and develop, and he could very well become what clark has become for us!
  25. thanks nudge, enjoyed reading that i like the sound of most of those trades/targets, only a few i wouldn't want
