  1. yeah he would be really good for us to get but i really can't see him wearing the red and blue. Either he stays at the crows or he goes to GC, but then as you said nobody expected clark to come to us so anything is possible! Apparently if he was to go to GC he could be offered more than Ablett (i don't think he's worth it)! so i think he would be a fool to go anywhere else as he would be the highest played player and he'd be in his homestate so a win-win for him
  2. It should be going to come from all these. We have players on the list capable of taking the next step and making an impact in AFL and they just need to develop and understand the game plan and there are strong signs in recent weeks that this is happening As for the players we may get in FA and the draft, as long as we choose smartly i feel we can move close to or better than we were last year and close to the finals finals the year after! GO DEES!!!
  3. I certainly hope not!!! he is a key piece in our backline, very reliable player and as said above, calm under pressure. he can also swing forward and fill a role up there too, and yes he hasn't kicked many goals against top sides, but he can still do his bit up there for the team. i say keep him as it will create competition for all the spots in the backline and will make our players push themselves to play for us and in doing so develop them more! he has great experience and we need to keep all the experience that we can so we don't just have young kids running out there on their own each week!
  4. the start of the year under neeld was atrocious, but there have been many encouraging signs in the llast numbe of weeks. the team is begging to gel a bit and thus we're not falling away like at the start of the year or if we are we're atleast fighting back. And blease is coming along nicely and he's put that down to neeld's and craig's work on his defensive side! Jones has florished under neeld and has become a star, and i think that is partly due to the style that neeld has, lets hope he can continue his improvement. their are others that are showing improvement under neeld too! Moloney has had a bad year, but don't all good players go through bad phases!?!? i think he can bounce back and i truely hope he does. just about the only thing i agree about with what you said is that Green had a year or possible 2 left in him, hopefully it was his decision.
  5. as long as we get him i don't really care which pick we use on him! I think he's a worthy 3rd pick but if we can get him at pick 25 then thats brilliant, gives us another high pick to use on another probable star
  6. a very dissapointing 3rd qtr, but as said above earlier in the year we would've just throw in the towel and let them walk all over us. a credit to the boys to hang in their and put in a super last qtr. Can't wait to see blease next year with another preseason under his belt
  7. Just imagine blease when he has full match fitness and influences the whole game instead of in spurts!!! he is still only 21 and is showing us all glimpses of what he is capable of and is surely of interest for rival clubs so we really need to sign him, and quickly! with top fitness he will be an absolute star! can't wait GO DEES
  8. i hope melbourne does end up with him simply because it would give us one of the most potent fwd lines in the comp with Clark/cloke mauling defenders and Jurrah (provided his trial goes well) and others moving around! with clark and cloke up fwd one of them will get the best defender and that will leave the other to dominate. the only question is, is he really worth what he is asking??? at his best he definitely is, and hopefully he can rid himself of his inconsistency at melbourne. that being said anything is far from materialising and we will all have to wait till seasons end to see whether he stays or goes. But the fact that contract talks were put off till seasons end doesn't sound good for collingwood as history proves!!! couldn't happen to a more deserving team haha
  9. I agree, i definitely think we can turn things around pretty quickly if we make good decisions in the draft and with the FA's. i'd like to think that we're not going to rely too much of FA's though because i would like to think that neeld and the other new coaches etc can get the most out of players that we already have in our list. Sylvia for example, i know he has been a very inconsistent player over his whole career and has always annoyed the hell out of many supporters, but since he returned from his back injury this season he seems to have been relatively consistent (touchwood) and i'm hoping that it is due to the input from neeld and the other new coaches and its not just a flash in the pan. We do also have a number of younger players such as Cook, Fitzpatrick and there is also Gawn who is a BIG unknown (literally!) and he could develop into anything and the same goes for the others. Jones also seems to have thrived this season. The approach that neeld has will obviously not suit all players and i'd expect those guys to be moved on at seasons end to make room for newbies. What i'm trying to say is FA's are definitely a help and we will need them along with the draft picks, but we have to keep in mind that there are some players in the background that haven't as of yet developed big bodies which hopefully they will and lets hope that enables them to take the next big step from VFL to AFL. As fas as finals go, if we do recruit well i think next year we will push ourselves back up to where we were last year (8-10 wins) but we will be stronger internally than last season. the year after i'd like to think that finals will be definitely in our grasp!
  10. i must say this is one of the best articles on the topic of Mark Neeld. i read this some time back but i still feel it is quite relevant. Neeld is taking us in the right direction but instead of listening to me just read the article. GO DEES!!! http://www.bigpondsp...05/default.aspx
  11. sorry to see him go very skilled and committed player for the demons. i think he still has a year or 2 left in him but as long as he is leaving on his own terms and he isn't being pushed then i'm fine with the decision.
  12. i'm hoping it doesn't become another incident just like james mcdonald. He had a couple of years left in him and was needed around the club to help guide our young players down the right path. I think Green still has a few years left where he can still do very positive things for the club on the ground but that being said i think they should probably offer him a contract like what hawthorn did with crawford, if he can keep performing well at his age then give him another year. his experience is needed around the club and if his career is indeed going to finish this year then hopefully he will stay around and be a mentor.
  13. well if you don't like him, you don't like him. but what about the changes to the song? fit us a bit or making something out of nothing???
  14. awww come on! gotta love nollsey haha
  15. yes we did but port did beat some decent teams during the year, not saying we were one of them but still...
  16. was listening to shannon nolls song and was thinking it describes melbourne pretty well at the moment. Neeld is the one who switches us on not saying this has happened which it hasn't but quite sure he is the man to do so! i've changed the i's to we and 'you' to neeld the only thing that doesn't fit is the part when we were younger. it was good for a bit of fun! GO DEES "Switch Us On" we never thought that we'd find ourselves here The darkest place that we've ever been we never thought that we'd take this life for granted, but we did we would've given it all when we were younger we would've given up everything for a taste Of the life and the lights and the crowds But our mind wasn't right, there were lies Then neeld came along... And neeld switched us, switched us on again And neeld showed us what it's like to live When neeld found us we wer empty we were too far gone for anybody Switch us, switch us on again, tonight. There was story my old man told me when I was young He said the measure of a man ain't in his bank account He said be careful of the things you say and what you do And all the people that you've got hangin around with you And I lost my way, prodigal son Of who I am and where I'm from Ooh, I was blind but now I see Then neeld came along And neeld switched us, switched us on again And neeld showed us what it's like to live When neeld found us we were empty we were too far gone for anybody Switch us, switch us on again, tonight. Tonight I've never felt so alive Just looking in your eyes I finally realized What I'm doing with my life. And neeld switched us, switched us on again And neeld showed us what it's like to live When neeld found us we were empty we were too far gone for anybody Switch us, switch us on again, tonight. Neeld switch us, switch us on again And neeld showed us what it's like to live When neeld found us we were empty we were too far gone for anybody Switch us, switch us on again, tonight.
  17. wow! there are lot of names in that team that are out injured now not good
  18. Yeah his numbers aren't bad either! Garlett and then Muir with a later pick with Tipungwuti as a rookie
  19. I wouldn't say he is the best ever but possibly the best at the moment! the afl could make a highlights video of solely him!
  20. when i saw the title of this thread i thought you have got to be joking because i was thinking he was being suggested as head coach!!! no idea what he would be like as a ruck or mid coach but i'd say stay away from him as we brought in a number of new coaches this year and need to see how they go about things in the long run.
  21. i like the look of him so far. at the moment he does look as though he will become a star but as said above he has only played 20 games and is largely unproven. if he does indeed become a gun then he will be one of the biggest bargains ever!
  22. jake is only 22, played 13 games and is coming off a knee reco! give him a break!!! his game yesturday was quite good too
