  1. Just because you're not tall doesn't mean you can't break packs! he has a strong frame, thats what it takes and also to back yourself in! I think neeld would knock that out of him pretty quickly!
  2. I'm not saying its a problem! We probably have a better forward in Clark now anyway. Watts is becoming very important down back and in some ways is probably of more use than if he was a fwd! And as for me calling natainui a 'freak' you know i did not mean it in that way! how about saying he has incredible athleticism and is a 'freakish talent'!
  3. I think for what we recruited Watts for we definitely got it wrong! what he has developed is completely different as to what we wanted but without him and what he does we wouldn't have very clean disposal out of the def 50. Still i think we would've been better to get natainui instead as he is simply a freak!
  4. Neeld said himself that the game has caught up with Moloney and that is why his game has suffered. If he does go we should get top notch compensation as he was our B/F last season so that should force them to give up something big
  5. Martin showed us all what he is capable when he is given the opportunity last year while Jamar was injured! was in the top 5 ruckman in the game!
  6. Well we do have a largely different lot of people at the club atm compared to the years before so things will hopefully change i do agree with you, we do need to be able to do the sort of things that the swans have been able to do with their lower picks and also recylcle players like they do and take them to new levels!
  7. Well you can't complain with these numbers today from Sylvia! Disposals: 34 Disposal efficiency: 76% marks: 4 tackles: 2 clearances: 5 frees for: 2 against: 1 inside 50s: 5 rebound 50s: 2
  8. Exactly my thinking! There are not many ruckman in the game who have the ground level skills that he has and he continually gives good 2nd and 3rd efforts! He is the sort of ruckman that is becoming more and more important. An athletic type who can do more than just be a big lumbering ruckman. as i've been saying he has pace and agillity and these assets of his are becoming more important to being a successful and dominating ruckman in the game nowadays!
  9. I haven't been to a game in 2 years, my parents won't take me and its killing me! we live in Gippsland but 2 years is a bit much i think
  10. Well Cloke is the obvious one. He would give us another tall, strong target in our fwd line and having him would take some pressure off of Clark as our sole big fwd. Cloke has had an off season, yet he has 45 goals (9th in comp), first in contested marks and fifth in marks inside 50 so even when he seems to be struggling he is still performing at a good standard! the only thing that would put me off of course is the money that he is asking :S Koby Stevens from WCE would be handy too. he's a tough mid who just can't crack into their strong midfield and he would get greater opportunity if he came to us!
  11. the players that have impressed me this year are: Clark: definitely worth the money we invested in him! dissapointing he got injured Howe: Future superstar! he can mark anything, ver exciting to watch and skillful around the ground. Watts: reinvented himself as a half-back who is an extremely gooduser of the ball when he has it and will hopefully improve even further next year Blease: He has shown what he can become with another preseason or so, just needs full match fitness so he doesn't go in and out of games, just constantly there. Spencer: I wondered what would happen with him at the start of the year! now i see him as a big part of our future with what he has put on show in the last handful of rounds. Good prospect Jones has also impressed me but we were all already big fans of him! Grimes and Trengrove have both improved as the year has gone on as they have come to grips with the captaincy and the game plan. Bright future for us
  12. One thing that Martin has that Gawn and spencer don't is great versatility! he can play as a big defender, a ruck and as a key forward. He has greater agility than gawn and spencer too!
  13. I'd say he could be almost anything we want him to be! he has the athleticism and the talent
  14. Yeah atm it is injuries but i feel when both fit Martin doesn't get as much opportunity as he should but then you do have to keep both of them happy so in a way i'm probably being a bit unfair to russian!
  15. This guy, i truely believe can develop into a superstar ruck! He has had starved opportunities however at melbourne largely due to Jamar and some injuries that he has had at the wrong times. Some on here think he struggles to get a place in our best 22, but when fit i think he is a shoe in! He has outstanding agillity for a man of his size and is incredibly fast too! When Jamar was injured for a large majority of last season Martin was ranked in the top 2 or 3 ruckman in the competition I feel Jamar is holding him back, and although Jamar has been very good for us and is still good when he is on the park, He seems to be getting a few injuries that tend to be associated with older players and he is taking a lot of time to get over them. I feel our time would be better spent developing Martin as our no. 1 ruckman and we could possibly have Jamar as a big CHF to bring the ball to ground if we were not able to get someone like Cloke this year in FA although Jamar would not be ideal in that position as he probably doesn't have the mobility required. Thoughts???
  16. i wasn't convinced with sellar to begin with. didn't really do much but did enough to hold his place. He has impressed me a bit in the last few rounds pushing forward and kicking a few goals while ebing able to do his bit in the backline. he was a former rnd 1 draft pick so obviously there is talent there, he just needs confidence and he should get the opportunity next year to fully show what he is capable of. best of luck to him
  17. yahoo!!! he was a necessity for the dees to resign for the club to build and go forward! very bright future for him and hopefully that future remains with the dees for his entire career
  18. i can definitely see where you're coming from. it will be interesting to see how things pan out
  19. like your post regarding the players that should make way, Bartram, Jurrah, Moloney and Davey i'm not sure about. As long as Bartrams surgery goes well i say keep him as he has a superb work rate and will give his all whenever he takes to the field and players like that are invaluable. Yes his disposal is not the best but nobody is perfect. Jurrah, provided his trial goes well, would be worth keeping on the list but having said that he has been given leave by the club to spend time with his family so the signs are not good but he is a huge talent and we will have to wait and see with him. Moloney, is a proven top player. Yes he has had a dramatic drop in form this season but we have all seen what he can do when at his best so we should probably give him another year but it may be tough to organise just a one year extension for him. Davey, he is probably at the crossroads in his career and probably heading down the wrong way. That being said though, he is in the same sort of boat as moloney in such that he is a proven star and is hugely damaging at his best, but he has had more than his fair share of injuries over the past 2 seasons and it may be a way of his body is telling him its time to give it up.
  20. heres a link to a list of all the medium midfielders in the 2012 draft. a number of good prospects in there for us http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/144594/default.aspx
  21. i like him! he fills a role and that seems to fit in with the sort of players that neeld likes. He does his bit for the team whether it be in the fwd or backline. he doesn't have outstanding games but he doesn't seem to have shockers either, just a middle tier player which teams need to support their more porminent players.
  22. haha there are some who think folau will be better than Hunt!!! atleast hunt has shown improvement and has shown some spark at times
  23. yeah he would be really good for us to get but i really can't see him wearing the red and blue. Either he stays at the crows or he goes to GC, but then as you said nobody expected clark to come to us so anything is possible! Apparently if he was to go to GC he could be offered more than Ablett (i don't think he's worth it)! so i think he would be a fool to go anywhere else as he would be the highest played player and he'd be in his homestate so a win-win for him
