Not picks but should definitely be points. A fine would be counterproductive in the current environment. A one game penalty would be right.
  2. The question should have be phrased differently I guess from the start. Best and Favourite are 2 different things. To me Lyon was probably best in this time period but he's most definitely not my favourite.
  3. If only you were right, but those times are long gone. There will be some re adjustment but then ego & greed will take over. I don't mean the players either, I'm talking local club Presidents and committees.... The SANFL may get away with it this year but players will move on next year for a pay packet.
  4. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here 'Martian'?
  5. It would be interesting to run this again in a couple of years if we get a flag. I suspect Max will bow out gracefully in the top 4 and we get a Stynes/Lyon playoff... Although Neitz is still a dark horse. A flag would change things.

Do you work for Murdoch 'bing'??? Selective quoting. Here is what I said. "Not a fan of the hub idea myself but this is just a stupid argument... Nobody signed on to this year, we all thought we would have a certain life...but here we are and we will make the best of it as we can and do what we must do. All bets are off... Being an AFL player doesn't make you immune from the world and it's problems." I don't like the hub idea, but I think they need a better argument than 'we didn't sign up for this'... The players are in no way impacted like many people who have no jobs, no income and nothing to go back to. They don't get to fully do their jobs but they are still getting paid way above the average not to do them. How are they impacted more than the rest of us?

“We as AFL players, undertook this contract in 2020, thinking we’d have a certain life, that’s what we agreed to and we signed the dotted line.” Phil Davis and Callan Ward respond to criticism over players reaction to hubs. GWS Giant Phil Davis has defended AFL players for being reluctant to resume the 2020 season in quarantine hubs away from their families. Not a fan of the hub idea myself but this is just a stupid argument... Nobody signed on to this year, we all thought we would have a certain life...but here we are and we will make the best of it as we can and do what we must do. All bets are off... Being an AFL player doesn't make you immune from the world and it's problems.

Interesting... ...but the USA had everything under control, it was nothing, they were tracking fine, the flu was worse, they were never going to be like China.
  9. Not sure he's had a far superior career... Definitely a standout in a poor time for the club. Lovett was a fantastic player for us in better times.

Think cruise ships and I reckon you might get an idea of the medical advice...

I think I've said this before... ..but what could go wrong.
  12. Not a chance 'Favourite'... The community space is already taken. Some of the more stable clubs may join the stronger competitions, Willy and Werribee maybe in one of the Western area comps but even clubs like Port may struggle as they are broke. Box Hill without the Hawks wouldn't make it to the EFL. There's no supporter base in the area for them, the local supporters already have their clubs. No AFL backing = no TV = no VFL. As a competition the VFL will not survive.
  13. I noticed that King was also talking up zones last night. I hope they don't fall for this. The worst mistake the AFL could ever make is to reintroduce zones. I also hope the cut the current faux zones out in the revamp...
  14. The VFL won't last a day without the AFL club involvement...
  15. It was a really bad time in the history of the club... I know people say to move on and it's probably healthy to do that. ...but when you see people congratulating appointments, maybe they should take a look at the history and see if the appointment is deserved and based on merit.
  16. I'm not qualified to sit on a board 'sat'... In all seriousness and not to get into a slanging match with you. I would like to know why the board allowed Garry Lyon to come in as a consultant to the club. Garry was a great player but had no qualification to take up this role. He's never coached at a club or been involved in any other role but as a player. From the outside looking in it seems that the will of a sick president over rode that of common sense. To me that is a failure at board level and Russell was part of that board. Does this qualify him to be a good appointment on another sporting board? It might seem stupid to you but this still really gets to me...there may have been good reasons at the time but from a supporters view all I can see is failure to make the right call and we're all still paying for it.
  17. Nuff said...
  18. Poor appointment...he was on our board at probably the worst time in our history. ...an empty suit.

Absolutely... It would be immoral for them to take precedence in testing players above the community. If they can ensure the whole community can have the same testing regime then Ok, but I doubt that will be the case. Stick you hub up your a.... Gill Unless you can play without these silly so called solutions...then don't play. Simple.

Well 'Jim', I guess if you're going to have a hub why not put it in a city that has the highest number of people with the virus. A city that has shown it knows how to set up good quarantine measures... They did such a good job with the Ruby Princess...what could possibly go wrong? If the AFL can't play without a hub, then don't play. The whole idea is just too dangerous. Think 100's/1,000's of people isolated in the same area, think cruise ships...
  21. Oliver already streets ahead...only 83 games for an AA and 2 Bluesy's....
  22. Dangerfield also refuted suggestions May 4 is the date players are set to return to training. “A lot of it is going to be government driven around rules on isolation,” he said. “May 4 isn’t a date that was ever formally put to us as a PA and I suppose the situation we’re in is we’re waiting for an update from the AFL on where it’ll all stand but they are still gathering information.
  23. Rod Grinter was a very good player & underrated but...

Maybe North could throw Carlton a lifeline and take them over, sorry I meant merge.

Don't know if it makes a good argument 'Jim'...but AFL would have to be the most demanding game across a range of requirements. Endurance, speed, strength...
