  1. Poor appointment...he was on our board at probably the worst time in our history. ...an empty suit.
  2. Absolutely... It would be immoral for them to take precedence in testing players above the community. If they can ensure the whole community can have the same testing regime then Ok, but I doubt that will be the case. Stick you hub up your a.... Gill Unless you can play without these silly so called solutions...then don't play. Simple.
  3. Well 'Jim', I guess if you're going to have a hub why not put it in a city that has the highest number of people with the virus. A city that has shown it knows how to set up good quarantine measures... They did such a good job with the Ruby Princess...what could possibly go wrong? If the AFL can't play without a hub, then don't play. The whole idea is just too dangerous. Think 100's/1,000's of people isolated in the same area, think cruise ships...
  4. Oliver already streets ahead...only 83 games for an AA and 2 Bluesy's....
  5. Dangerfield also refuted suggestions May 4 is the date players are set to return to training. “A lot of it is going to be government driven around rules on isolation,” he said. “May 4 isn’t a date that was ever formally put to us as a PA and I suppose the situation we’re in is we’re waiting for an update from the AFL on where it’ll all stand but they are still gathering information.
  6. Rod Grinter was a very good player & underrated but...
  7. Maybe North could throw Carlton a lifeline and take them over, sorry I meant merge.
  8. Don't know if it makes a good argument 'Jim'...but AFL would have to be the most demanding game across a range of requirements. Endurance, speed, strength...
  9. Jurrah by a mile...
  10. It's a game for the people/fans 'Macca'... Unfortunately as you and I probably agree the coaches seem to have made it their play thing and don't have any concern for the people who ultimately pay their wage, the fan. Time to take the game back I reckon...
  11. You need to limit the rotations 'daisy'... That's a no brainer 16 or 18 a side. There's no logical reason to keep the high level of rotations in our game. The injury excuse is a furphy, high rotations leads to a more ballistic game and more injury to my mind.
  12. 16 a side... Time to reduce the number of players on the ground. Players are bigger, faster, fitter.... The ground size hasn't changed. Reduce the number of players on the field. Makes sense even if the so called traditionalists go a bit weak at the knees. Agree with these. On point 8, I would have the umpires bounce the ball. No call back for a bad bounce...the unpredictability of the bounce is an ace that makes it harder to set up for. Making the game predictable has been one of the big problems and has allowed coaches to set up plays. Part of the beauty of the game is the oval ball with its inherent unpredictability.
  13. In this case I think the Doc dragged herself down. She should have known better... ...and she must of been living under a rock not to know who he was by the time she was dealing with him. Even per chance she didn't know who he was a quick Google search would have filled in the blanks.
  14. There aren't a huge number of suburban leagues & there isn't plenty of cash. There will be a lot less now. The boom/bust cycle is alive & well in local footy. Whilst there are some wealthy clubs most struggle to stay in existence & put teams on the park. The VFA was dead & buried when the AFL started playing Sunday games as 'daisy' pointed out. The stand alone clubs can barely stand alone. Port, probably the most famous of the VFA clubs has been on life support for a while now. Frankston had to close up shop for a while before coming back in. The strong local connection to these clubs has died out with the gentrification of their areas. I don't know a lot about the other state leagues...but the SA Port have struggled for a while now so all can't be rosy there. If the AFL alignments end, the VFL/VFA will be a thing of the past.
  15. Honestly 'Dee' if the AFL hadn't of taken it over it would be long dead and buried. Yes it's a mess of a competition agreed...is it better to have a mess or nothing? I guess that's the question.
  16. Agree with Daniel & Brad...Jennings has conned his way into a microphone. He talks inconsequential rubbish most times.
  17. ...and we can use the canned laughter tracks from the sitcoms to laugh at Brian jokes.
  18. Thanks 'hardtack'...I've been lucky enough to see Buddy solo (at the Corner Hotel) and also with Emmylou...and almost forgot also saw him with Steve Earle's band at the Central Club Hotel in Richmond. They are a great music couple...
  19. Been happening since Adam was a boy... The US has been playing these games for years...the Russians. Previously the Brits... ...and what have the Romans ever done for us?
  20. China has been hammered and looks like it's set for a 2nd wave unfortunately. Russia has also been hammered. North Korea have been seeking assistance through back channels apparently and would never admit to anything so who would know really. I wouldn't use these examples to back your argument...
  21. With KK and Bennell on the list... No, we can't afford to carry another.
  22. One of the few benefits of the lockdown is some of the music on Youtube...Tom Bukovac is one of Nashville's top session players. His wife Sarah is a singer & writer. He's a big prog fan so not surprisingly has covered an early Genesis tune and another from Jethro Tull...enjoy "Ripples" - Genesis "Wond'ring Aloud" - Jethro Tull
  23. The NRL have shown themselves to be an absolute disgrace in their push to start early. Let's hope the AFL don't keep pushing down this line. There should be no favours given to elite sport. FOX are desperate to get sport back on and Rupert more often than not gets what he wants. Let's hope the government stand their ground and our sporting leaders don't out themselves above the rest.
  24. Great concept, great match ups.
