Well the first half anyway...according to the Plapp report.

There's a big difference. Yes of course he could still get concussed at VFL level as he has been, sometimes it's plain bad luck. However at AFL level the speed and intensity of the game is that much greater and require a quicker reaction time so it follows the chances of a concussion would be higher. He's going to have to be exposed at the level again at some time, I guess the question is should it be now or should we leave it a bit longer.

Having argued against bringing in Brayshaw too early (I think he needs more games at Casey) it seems he might be in the squad and a good chance to play on Sunday. No source, only reading between the lines when his father was interviewed on SEN this morning.

A clubs not built around one player...if he wan't out then get the best deal and move on. I'm over the whole thing of the sky falling in if a player leaves, we are in a much better position now and the compensation for Hogan may well be worth it. If he's here next year we're going back into the cycle of will he stay or will he go, unless he extends his contract further.
-
Um...the thrust of all that I was saying is give Brayshaw some time...
-
No mate...all I'm saying is give Brayshaw some time. I don't believe it is a good move to rush him in just yet. Apart from the concussion issues his form was poor at AFL level early in the season and even on the weekend at Casey according to those at the game it wasn't until he came into the midfield that he fired. Those positions aren't open to him in the senior team. Like JKH he plays his best football as a mid and neither give us much anywhere else. All the rest are side issues.

Bizarre to say the least 'Pennant'.

...and we did it again in the 3rd Q. I was yelling at the tele, was such dumb footy opening it up for them. We needed to hold in the 3rd then go in the last.

In those conditions you would have a lose man back on any ground 'rp', not just Manuka.... It appears the instruction was to use the outer side (watching from TV), as the wind was pushing the ball that way and to the right of screen. Is this what we should have been doing? We let them open up the corridor and scoring side way too easily. This is where I would have stationed our spares and kept pushing them to the line and forcing more stoppages and boundary throw in's...this is what they did pretty easily when we had the wind. All in all I think we played really dumb football, but I also think we have a few dumb footballers in the team.

No, you've missed the thrust of your own post 'Dappa' and that's about selecting Brayshaw this week. I suggest this would not be a great idea and have given examples of other players brought in too early...I think we have for want of a better word panicked at the selection table this season. We haven't shown any faith in our depth players and rushed the "stars" in too early. The selection of Hannan has nothing to do with selecting Brayshaw. Brayshaw is a known and has shown he can play at the level but given his history he needs time. Hannan was a left field selection, Brayshaw would be in my mind a dumb selection. Of course this is just my opinion and the selectors may go with him and he may have a blinder. Trouble is they can't...Jack has given 1 quarter and struggled since.

Unfortunately we fell well short in this department today...way too many arms outstretched.

It's about time rational thinking held up... ...and no they usually haven't worked. Hogan struggled, Max has struggled, Smith struggled, JKH was not up to it & anyone with an once of insight can see that Viney has no power in his foot at the moment and is struggling. Leave Brayshaw at Casey for another game or 2 and if he holds his form & we look a chance at finals then maybe bring him back for the last game...maybe. Look back to the start of this season & Brayshaw struggled, really struggled. He needs more time, we've rushed too many back into the AFL team too early.
-
I think the nasty trend has been bringing too many players straight back in or back in with only a limited run at Casey. ...and some like Viney have come back too soon. You can see he doesn't have the power, he can't push off his injured foot and lacks the acceleration to break away or the strength to lay tackles that stick. Jones is probably the only one who has earned an automatic pass straight back in after a long break, the rest need to earn it. None have yet...

A poorly structured team... Pedo was ok when Max was out but with him and Tommy Mac forward it doesn't work. So, the Watts question. He needs to be the relief ruck, it gives him a sense of urgency and has played his best footy playing this way.
-
For me it would be... Melk - susp Peders and Frost out... Hannan, Stretch and ? in Tommy Mac back, Watts to relieve in ruck (gets more involved with a run in the ruck), small forward line better than the mish mash we had today.
-
Frost - Not a footballer
-
Jones - Lower your eyes

A lot of dumb footballers out there today...
-
According to the logic of some on here it should have been Selwood or Hawkins...
-
He polled 2 votes in his first AFL game...I think they see him and he gets votes.
-
A bit depends on the Casey game today but if Weed has a good one he could be back in...for Hogan. Tommy Mac may need to go back, Frost has been a liability recently which has always been on the cards (athlete not footballer). Match ups with their forwards will decide the mix.

Len Smith is another legendary coach in the same boat 'Macca'...

Unfortunately Chris just runs off at the mouth. Anyone who has heard his segment with KB would understand that he is putting things out there and trying to be relevant. To me he comes off us an uninformed buffoon who doesn't do his homework. He might not have said what is in the headline but he opened himself and the club up with his comments...

...because the idea was to get a home state final...not a home ground final as the AFL and Cats have now spun it. It just happens that for interstate clubs (not always Sydney) the ground of choice is their home ground. It's absurd the Cats getting a home final at Kardinia Park.

In London at the moment...poor excuse I know. ...but let me also say this. I don't enjoy going to the footy as much any more. for one the "match day experience" really aggravates me...I can't stand the noise. Also I don't see the other side of the ground as well as I did. My sight is ok but back in the day I could pick the players and the play easily and my mates would always ask me what was going on. It's just harder to pick up these days. I think the problem is 2 fold, the main one being the congestion around the ball and the secondary one the advertising on the fence. I used to love going to the footy but not so much now...
