  1. The information I have is that we have 15,000 intensive care beds in Victoria. The current modelling is that we will have a need for 100,000 within the next 3 to 4 months. I think that might just overwhelm the hospital system. Stay home...stay safe.
  2. Going to be a lot longer than 10 weeks...get used to it.
  3. Huge difference... Firstly there is a vaccine for the flu, it means people won't be infected in mass numbers and there won't be the amount of carriers. Secondly because of the mass infections there will be a high number critically ill who will need intensive care and we don't have the number of intensive care beds to cater for these numbers. It means a lot of people will die, a hell of a lot more than from the yearly flu outbreak. People who need critical care for other matters such as heart attacks, strokes, cancer, major accidents etc will struggle to get care because the beds are being used and the hospitals are full. Thirdly the % of people dying from this is higher than from the flu, so again the risk is a lot of deaths. ...and finally, I repeat there is no vaccine. This is a big enough reason.
  4. I've said this a few times on other threads. This is definitely not the time... I sure hope the club is not this insensitive.
  5. In case he hasn't realised, the economy has gone to s.... Where are these private owners coming from? Good footballer but pea brain...
  6. Another bunch of morons.... The players are losing the PR battle re money and this only tells us they think they are above everyone else. Strip the contracts...
  7. They are certainly losing the PR battle... They are using the younger and more vulnerable players on the list as a shield. If the AFL (Gil, Hocking and co) come out and take big cuts then the players at the top will have to follow. ...and the AFL guys are working hard, whereas the players are off. ...by the way, how much do players get paid for a Fox appearance. Another benefit for the high profile few.
  8. My point is that the timing is not right at the moment. In relation to saving the club... family, close friends come first...the club is down the list and I think many would be of that opinion. Let things shake out a bit before making any moves on a save the club fund. It just wouldn't be a good move in the current environment.
  9. The timing's not great mate...maybe when we get through this but at the moment there are a lot of people suffering and saving a footy club would be down the list. Let the AFL sort what they have to as well and come back to this down the track.
  10. I actually think the opposite might happen. We are not a large economy and the game is unique to us, it couldn't sustain a private membership model. It's more likely a rebuild of the game will only happen if it goes back to being a real community club/competition again. Back in the time machine but taking the lessons of today could well be the answer. It won't be back to the VFL days, but a stripped back version of the AFL. A lot of volunteer work will need to be done to get things back on track. Private ownership has failed in the past and with a greatly diminished economy would make no sense.
  11. safe travels 'SWYL'...
  12. All bets will be off with the media rights 'Jack', they used to be a prize but not any longer. No football, no money... The TV industry is haemorrhaging money big time, the golden goose has closed up. A leaner, more watchable competition may well be the answer. There may be no buyers or maybe bargain hunters. Cash at bank maybe a saviour but I wouldn't be banking property at the moment. It will take a big hit.
  13. If they carry on like this mob, they deserve nothing...these guys need to be giving money back. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-03-23/coronavirus-apology-from-north-melbourne-footballers-after-party/12080964 ...and forget the apology. It's hollow you dumb f.... In reality they're not working they can go on Newstart.
  14. Take care 'dazzle', it's a tough time that's for sure. You're a valued member of this community and I look forward to some of your insight and opinions again in the near future.
  15. Well deserved, she's had a great year.
  16. Gets caught there too often...
  17. I would give the main offender award to Hibberd 'bing', I don't think he hit a target all night. ...but it would have been a tight contest with a few others.
  18. If they're practicing it 'Earl' then I don't know what to say. A big part of it has to be confidence then...either that or they have no belief in the coach. Also, I know we're all being hard...but it was so disappointing to see more of the same, particularly in the current climate where we could all do with a lift. The players must have felt it. Imagine being so far from home and being told the competition is off, you've got the last game then you can go home. After such a big, big preseason...all for nothing and stuck over the other side of the country. ...but apart from that. Looking at what was in front of us today and the last year and a bit... They need to sort out the ball use in the middle, if they worked better with blocks and positioning rather than ring around the handball they could get the ball forward much quicker. They f... around with it, it drives me nuts. You can't have a bunch of defensive forwards who can't do much else...ANB, Spargo, Bedford. One will do and that's more likely to be Jones. Tommy Mac isn't a number one forward that's one thing, Fritsch is a floater and shouldn't have to carry the load he carried because of a poor selection in Brown who gives us nothing. He didn't want to keep his feet and provide a contest, I get why EFC let him go. Midfield again reverted to being one way runners...apart from Langdon who tried his guts out. Pity about his disposal, hopefully he can sort this. Part of it's his decision making and lot of it's his teammates letting him down. Probably rambling a bit now, much on the mind besides this. Take care 'Earl'...
  19. I'm not sure they will have a choice. Might be time to go back to a 12 team competition. We will be lucky to survive in our current form.
  20. Fritsch - Delivery crucified him...
  21. Sorry 'Sat' but Goody doesn't know more than some on this site. Spargo has to go. Hibberd is done and it's time to blood Rivers How Brown got a game in front of Weid I don't know... ...and we need to run Jackson for what ever games we have this year. Probably in place of Tommy Mac who has totally lost it. No good him hanging around when Brown gets a gig. The big out has to be the game plan, it stinks. The only thing that will save Goody is the finances.
  22. I think SEN will have to close, they have been close to it for a while and this is a tipping point. Maybe they can close up then try and re start at a later date. A lot of late night meetings going on. I've been meeting with myself for the last few weeks...
  23. I wonder why??? Surely it would be better at least for people to go outside if no one else is in their space. Maybe the density of population in some areas is the problem.
  24. I really hope you aren't serious 'Werridee', if you are you have a lot more problems that the virus.
  25. Just a thought. This could well be the last game of the year. Then it follows... If we win, we are the 2020 Premiers.
