NON MFC: Round 4
Unfortunately I think it looks as bad as it is...his leg buckled.

NON MFC: Round 4
Not a great game...yet again. Let's hope they can break the mould in the 2nd half otherwise it looks like a good book and an early night.

TEAMS: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Unfortunately Goody's explanation left things open to interpretation. I've got no problem with him being rested but I do have a problem with him being dropped for Hannan.

Racist Comment Targetting Nev
There is a lot more to this than the you say here 'Mel'... Zep have become the whipping boys (The ANB's or Omac's of music) on this one and yeah there is an argument to be made. ...but the problem with legal protection for a lot of the old blues songs is no one knows who really wrote them in the first place, and usually no one in particular did. If that makes sense. They all plagiarised each other, but it wasn't called that then as there was no money in it so nobody bothered. It's folk music, it's been handed down over generations. I've heard Big Bill Broonzy talk about borrowing from so and so who borrowed from so and so and on and on. Who did write "Key to the Highway' for example. "Key to the Highway" is usually credited to Charles "Chas" Segar and William "Big Bill" Broonzy.[1] Broonzy explained the song's development: One thing is for sure...BB King, Muddy Waters and the like made a good living because the British artists championed their work. They took 'Race' music back to the US masses...many of whom thought it was original stuff from the UK. Would it have happened without Clapton, the Stones...who knows. Maybe at a later time... I mean even Hendrix had to go to the UK to kick start his solo career. He'd been kicking around the US before as a sideman but had to go away and come back to be recognised. Interesting topic on a footy forum. That's what I like about here...the tangents can at times be more interesting than the footy. Man...I hope we nail the Cats this week...that we can agree on.

Racist Comment Targetting Nev
I'm always torn on this one... If we stop the posting are we really just hiding it? is it better to know what's out there for better or worse? do we ignore it? Does it encourage racism? or does it just reflect what people are already thinking? I don't know, in the end I think you're right though. The powers that be need to stop it on their platforms. ...but we need to be aware of the undercurrent. I'm really concerned when things get swept under the carpet.

It's quite pathetic really but there will always be small minded individuals out there. Can we change the underlying behaviours and beliefs of the masses? I don't know, there has been a change on the surface but a lot of these issues run deep. The Goodes situation and Eddie outbursts (and failure to take ownership of them) tell me we have a long, long way to go. I guess we keep chipping away.

Melk & Hannan couldn't catch a cold let alone lay a tackle...forward pressure is neither's strong suit. AVB is physical but skills are average.

I'm with Terry... The explanation was nonsensical.

How Important was Spargo
They won't carry both into the finals...Brown for me. Daicos won't make it long term.

Heritier Lumumba
All clubs will have these issues in their past. ...and if one of our ex players was aggrieved I hope we would apologise for poor behaviour. My take is the problem lies with Collingwood's refusal to admit fault. Heritier would like them to acknowledge what he says is correct and apologise. Players have come out and verified his story so why do Collingwood feel the need to launch some half a.... enquiry. I can understand his frustration.

Oliver: The Forgotten Superstar?
We have, but when you've got probably the best starting mid in the competition you would be stupid not to have him play there at just about every opportunity.

Intra-Club Game: Round 3
I'm just following your point... So if the coach thinks Tommy is doing his role he would be over the moon with how Neitz or Lyon did the same....

Intra-Club Game: Round 3
It's one of the reasons Tommy is struggling at the moment. If he doesn't hold his grabs he's not giving us value... Talls need to have some agility.

Oliver: The Forgotten Superstar?
Something to think about... How many of these goal kicking mids kick their goals whilst playing in the midfield? Do most of their goals come whilst resting forward? I think Martin for one kicks most of his goals when playing forward. Then, do we want Oliver to play as a mid or a forward? I think we a weaker when he is out of the midfield. Leave him be a mid and kick the odd goal rather than spending time forward to kick more...

Adelaide’s Tom Lynch
This is the role Fritsch should be playing. He's being wasted playing deep forward.

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs West Coast
The physical situations are vastly different. What it does tell us is that in these times we need to cut the players a bit of slack. They aren't robots and things effect people differently. Many were decrying our lack of professionalism to not overcome the odds. The WC team who many see as being a pro unit are struggling with mental demons. That would be interesting...

Mixing Positional Lines @ Training
Well, that worked well didn't it Josh! Kosi and Spars must have missed that meeting.

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs West Coast
Ok... Thought it was a good time to bring this up again. We can discount our first round performance given the circumstances. The so called professionals at WC have been a basket case since having to move to the hub in Qld. They haven't been helped by their coach or club, the coaches performance in particular has been poor. As far as the threat to go home, well that's really a help to the players, putting more uncertainty in the situation. ...but, it shows that players, even the professional WC players are human and subject to the pressures of this time. Our boys I believe were in a worse position during round one with the season being postponed and maybe even cancelled before they hit the ground. I don't think we can write much into this season at all unfortunately and we're only going through the motions to make a bit of cash. Still think it may be a miracle if we get through it. ...but back on point. What do the nay sayers now think of our first round performance. Will you cut some slack or not? Or do you still beat your chest and think our players should be robots with no human emotion?

Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
Apparently we asked to play the game on Tuesday night... ...and of course we were knocked back by the AFL. I would think it was a reasonable request. I would like to hear a bit more from our club on this whole situation.

Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
That's correct but I thought it was only Australians that were allowed back into the country since the government closed the borders. 'sue', pointed out that permanent residents have also been allowed back in which makes sense. I hope and expect he would have permanent resident status...
-
Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
Thanks for the info 'sue'... That makes sense if he is a permanent resident.

Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
How in the f... would Gil know. Something smells rotten here. How was he allowed back into the country? Is it more of the au pair fiasco again?
-
Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
Absolutely, Australians have been allowed to return home. He returned home to Ireland and then was allowed back to work. Should not have been allowed. Should have been stopped at the border as others have and told to return home. There is a break somewhere in the system.
-
Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
....by the way, how in the f... was he let back into the country in the first place. The borders were closed I thought. He's not in an essential industry. Is he an Australian citizen or did the bombers pull in a favour. FFS...

Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
So he tested positive...to a club test. ...if that's true and was allowed to train. Then he and the club ge banned from the rest of the season.
