  1. China has been hammered and looks like it's set for a 2nd wave unfortunately. Russia has also been hammered. North Korea have been seeking assistance through back channels apparently and would never admit to anything so who would know really. I wouldn't use these examples to back your argument...
  2. With KK and Bennell on the list... No, we can't afford to carry another.
  3. One of the few benefits of the lockdown is some of the music on Youtube...Tom Bukovac is one of Nashville's top session players. His wife Sarah is a singer & writer. He's a big prog fan so not surprisingly has covered an early Genesis tune and another from Jethro Tull...enjoy "Ripples" - Genesis "Wond'ring Aloud" - Jethro Tull
  4. The NRL have shown themselves to be an absolute disgrace in their push to start early. Let's hope the AFL don't keep pushing down this line. There should be no favours given to elite sport. FOX are desperate to get sport back on and Rupert more often than not gets what he wants. Let's hope the government stand their ground and our sporting leaders don't out themselves above the rest.
  5. Great concept, great match ups.
  6. The idea that AFL players and support staff live in an isolated bubble is absurd. I know for a fact that some players were out and about socialising and taking selfies with non football people on the weekend of the first games. Then we have the idiots at North and Geelong who thought it was a great idea to have parties. This is not a smart idea, Shepherd is right to be sceptical.
  7. I'm not sure who would want to invest in a club that's losing money and never likely to turn a profit but I guess stranger things have happened. At least the AFL won't have to sink any more money in. People mistake their current on ground success with ongoing viability. Once this success, their window closes, then it's a tough road for GWS.
  8. Ok, seems it's including '87. Then there's no argument. It's Flower by a country mile. Better put him in the poll 'Demonland'...
  9. It might also show a complete break down in communication where the players didn't feel comfortable in bringing it up with the club. The club/Goody didn't understand the depth of the concern. At least in the end the players made the right choice and Goody had to follow otherwise we could have been in Adelaide's predicament.
  10. Flower did play in '87 so that automatically makes him number one. ..but he does say since '87, not including. There's a reason for this and it's not an arbitrary date. The real question is who is our best player since Robbie retired?
  11. This...
  12. One thing I can agree with Danger & Hutchy on... https://www.afl.com.au/news/390875/why-danger-s-not-comfortable-with-proposed-quarantine-hub-?fbclid=IwAR0l-0EgtWtnc6BM_7j3HdkvMqt2Hczbussb9hnTcfZT7p_48NA1BJ1sYVc
  13. It's now getting beyond stupid...
  14. This talk of setting up a completion in an out of the way venue is a total load of c... Can you imagine 18 teams and staff in one place, isolated from their wives and kids (you could have 18 teams, staff wives and kids surely). Expect that no one is infected or that no one would go troppo... I'll tell you what it is. It's just throwing things out there to keep the AFL in the news. The media run with it because they've run out of things to report and a lot of their jobs must now be on the line. It's not going to happen and if per chance it does, it would be a absolute disaster.
  15. Trouble is they will have to reward the corporates that stick fat...and the clubs will be looking for every bit of corp money they can get. The general fan will be quickly forgotten in the run for cash no matter how many times the AFL and clubs tell us how important we/they are.
  16. I wonder what his view would be if Collingwood were not one of the favourites? Just say for example they were in Carlton's position... Would a navy blue flag have an "asterisk" Ed?
  17. Carlton would be one 'Cards', the Mathieson connection...
  18. You make some good points. This is not one of them. I doubt the GCS would survive if there was a rationalisation of the competition. Also there is no space for GWS. They might be successful on the ground but after that drops off they will be an empty shell...
  19. The Eagles were playing at home...a quick drive from the ground and they're back safe with family. Everything was falling apart around the country, state borders were being closed off and our playing group were stuck in Perth playing a meaningless game. They're not robots...I was upset with the performance on game day but after settling down and having a bit of empathy for the group I realised we could not judge much if anything from that game...
  20. Michael Reynolds...
  21. I think he is right and that the AFL have been handed an opportunity. The current competition isn't sustainable...what a sustainable model looks like I don't know but I do know this isn't it. Having said that, I can't see them changing anything macro in the short term.
  22. At this stage I think all sports will be in the same boat, at least in this country. Sportsmen in this country have been overpaid considering our small population for a while now. I suspect there will be a new world order after all this shakes out.
  23. It might be better to go back to a semi pro model. Don't cut the list size but cut the salary cap back dramatically...
  24. Not having a first round pick might be a bonus this year...
  25. Thanks for this 'Jim' I've got my figures totally wrong, must have misheard what I was told. Looks like things could get even worse if we don't slow this thing down...
