  1. Had to restrain myself from calling in 6PR this morning, Karl Langdon and that Hack Hagdorn having shots at us for bringing in players who were no better than the ones we cut. Langdon says things have been bad at Melbourne for years and cnt see any improvement - What does he expect us to do nothing Hagdorn almost has us finishing bottom believes GWS & Suns are way ahead in development and will leap frog over us. He has us an Bulldogs as the real strugglers next season - FMD I rang him the other week to let him know what we had done was neccassary as we had no leadership in or senior players and the only big mistake with our older players we had done recently was Junior. The guy has NFI about footy and is an absolute internet troll . I expect us to be much harder next year and believe we will see a fair bit of improvement and wont hold back in letting him know
  2. Pretty Simple they are hard and prepared to give 100% they provide depth and statement has been made after a year of the coach having a closer look. Without giving 100% and being hard at it you wont get a game in our side, Watts included
  3. So by your logic since Viney coached one of our wins Bailey really only won 6 games, you don't get half a win it's a draw
  4. Don't care what numbers Pick 4, Hogan, Dawes Viney, Pederson, Barry, Rodan, Byrnes and new draftees get just be good to see some bigger bodies and some nastiness out there in red & blue. I do however want to see someone make me proud of a Dee wearing RDB'S number
  5. If this isn't tongue in cheek you have well and truly out done yourself here. FFS Next time your practicing hold the ball as low down as possible before dropping to your foot and laces out
  6. Don't think we will get him in the ND but if our FD want him pretty sure if we got in his ear and guaranteed to him we would take him pick 3 in PSD and he makes it clear he wants home to Victoria then we should be able to snare him
  7. Hold your horses We haven't even started the delistings yet, all clubs will delist players now who had no interest from other clubs
  8. + 1 Barrett, King, Denham and others are carrying on like we have got rid of every kid on our list and brought in spuds. Like others on here what we have tried didn't work and this goes back before Bailey. Plenty of decent young talent left on the list and not one of our young hardnuts or those who have bought in was moved on. Mark my words this is the start of the new culture every player on our list knows what is expected of them. We have targetted players for structure and think it was Nathan Thompson I heard defending the club saying we have filled massive holes we had between the 23-28 year olds. He also said it's not like they haven't also picked up youth with Hogan, Viney and maintaing an early pick. Everything the club said they would do they did and by all accounts tried their utmost to get Ray but it didn't get over the line. Time to sit back and see how things transpire
  9. Get your facts right on Hill, very late bloomer never really stood out at junior level, showed pace at schoolboy level but doubts were always there about endurance and ability to match it with bigger bodies and whether he could step up. It wa sonly his U/18 champs and end of season with West Perth which got him moved up very late
  10. Within reason WYL, they all want it and it's one thing to do it at underage level and think yes I can do this. Play every week recover and get the body right for the following weeks match You don't know how badly you really want it till you are challenged beyond your comfort zone. Anyone who has trained at a high level or done endurance events will tell you there are freaks who can just do things beyond others, but by and large we can all get to a certain level before you hit the wall and need to go beyond points you have ever been. this is all in the mind and in a persons make up. I hear landers saying you can't train this and that is correct to a point but I break it down to two scenarios. a) Some have it but because they are good at a junior level they don't realise how much they want it till they get delisted or realise I have been in the system for a few years now and I am going nowhere, they get told by the coach/fd or even family members (eg Tim & Jobe Watson) your wasting this chance and need to decide what you want. B) The Dane Swan's, Sam Mitchells and others of the footy world not gifted with size, speed or genuine elite athletic builds who have throughout junior footy always had to give their all and it is just part of them that is apparent I would guess from the day that turn up at their first pre season after getting drafted. Those players who push themselves beyond the limit running till you drop vommitting and getting back up to keep running and get yourself fitter. That is what seperates being talented to making the grade.
  11. If we get Pick 33 & 35 I would keep one of them, Pick 49 and nothing more for Pederson, if the Saints don't want to keep Ray Pick 35 & maybe a change of our 4th round pick (in our favour). I would not use a 2nd round pick on Pederson and I expect continued improvement from big Fitzy this year so in saying that I don't expect the club to be held to ransom by North. I expect late dealings on Friday for these moves
  12. If that was the case why would we not cut North out and just take Jacobs for ourselves, first rounder from a couple of years ago who shows promise, as the week goes on North will take pick 49
  13. Have some ink myself family names and Irish/personal stuff, no MFC tatts at this stage but have promised when/if we win a flag the Demon & MFC logos will be added somewhere
  14. Thought during 2002 Trapper had finally arrived as an AFL star and would be consistent for the next 5/6 years
  15. Libba not sure exactly but may have been back on the field in 8-10 weeks
  16. Does anyone else remember I think it was Round 5 2006 v Geelong at the G we started terrible but came back really strong think it was our second win on the trot after being 0-3 and we went on a roll winning 6 or 7 before losing to Meth Coast at Subi with Judd on fire. That Cats game and for a period there with Bater, Dunn and Jones breaking into the side we had a very good ballance of young and old and Bate looked really good. Shame he never really reached consistent form
  17. We said the same last year about the Lions, I don't care who we play we just need to improve ourselves and the results will come
  18. Been a good servant Jared and would like to thank you for your efforts. All the best time to move on, club is bigger than anyone
  19. Just a hypothetical after hearing Neelds comments this morning that we have enough kids, is Dom Tyson better than Wines/O'Rourke/Toumpas/Grundy. Would the club trade Pick 4 for him? Not something I am in favour of doing at all, but was just asked the question by someone at lunch when he mentioned Tyson wants to head back to Victoria
  20. I'm cautious, there will be improvement there is no doubt we will be older and fitter and have bigger bodies. Neeld and the new FD have turned the club upside down and it will take time just hope we can all see the light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer but still a bit off. He gave the list a chance for 12 months had a look and now it is his team, getting in the bigger bodies required to play his brand, who knows with the bigger bodies around them and a decent pre season in them some of the skinnier kids may flourish. I also expect improvement in Trenners, Blease, Grimes & Howe so whilst I think the future is bright , we are not back, we are on the way back. But at least we have made a statement and had a line in the sand moment this pre season. As John Kennedy said "Don't think, Do". And Neeld has done the "Do" so at lease we wont die wondering. I believe it may take another year but he will deliver on his promise of making us a very hard side to play against and for that reason if he is available Wines is a monty to us at pick 4. Go Dees
  21. If Nelson lasts topick 58 would be a good pick up considering we seem to have plenty of forwards & defenders. Good pace and very good user of the ball. IMO he has only slipped down the draft order due to an ilness which affected his pre season. Finished the season well and got better once he got to almost full fitness. Worth a punt
  22. All in all pretty good trade period so far, no matter what you think of Dawes still a big target who will provide a contest and bring the ball to ground. IMO will get back to his form of 2010/11 without the added burden of playing the pinch hitting ruck role. Whilst we still need mids we will have two in Viney and really starting to warm to Wines for more hardness. Starting to get the pieces together of a hard unit still a long way to go but in two off seasons Neeld has managed to recruit two power forwards, 3 if you count Hogan who will have a lot less pressure on him when he starts playing in 2014. I had heard it was being reserved for JV but straight swap to Dees number 31 for you Dawesy welcome aboard
  23. Good call WJ as a Cardies (now Falcons) man seen a fair bit of Shane, thought he would go last year but health issues got in the way. He started this season slowly probably due to last years issues hampering his pre season, but as the season went on he came on well. Has good line breaking pace and uses the ball very well. Would be worth a punt with one of our late picks, think along the lines of a cheaper (as in no trade required) version of Farren Ray. Hutchings, Rodda & Nelson from West Perth all should get picked up this year
