  1. Have to say I agree with you Redleg, from memory when Brereton got involved with the Hawks he set about them drafting a particular style of player and they all had to be hard at it players. I knew nothing about Cook so wont go into the Cook/Darling debate I watched Darling from a young age and also saw how dramatically he dropped off when he started playing seniors at West Perth, so I was not surprised he was looked over by a lot of clubs. But it is clear with the Watts, Morton, Bennell & Gysbert pick ups BP had absolutely no idea or a massive lack of investigative ability to establish if the players had a solid work ethic. Surely above Cook if we didn't want Darling there were much better obvious choices. I would assume he was trying to find a star which other recruiters were not aware of or more to the point other recruiters did not rate as highly as he did. I would assume we have addressed the problem by moving BP on and taking Taylor from Collingwood and this will take time, Taggert, Clark, Couch, Magner, Viney, Kent, Hogan seem to show the players Neeld likes. Toumpas goes against them a bit over Wines but I will cop that as we were getting Viney. Neeld has taken no prisoners with the way he has undertaken the dramatic change and it looks as it could cost him his job, but we really did need to start going down this road while Danniher was here and not leave it this late. I may be biased but in a choice of two always would go for the player with work ethic and/or nasty streak over a long term project player. Yes we have had a big problem with development but the recruiting was the major factor and the philosophy BP chose with talent over ethic is the reason we do not have Hurley, Dangerfield, Sloan, Hennebury, Shuey and either Tallia or Darling. Depresses me just typing it
  2. Lets learn from other early calls on 2 number 7 picks and rising star winners Daniel Rich Rhys Palmer Both have been passed by other midfielders taken in their drafts
  3. 6. N. Jones 5. Sylvia 4. Terlich 3. Viney 2. M.Jones 1. Bail
  4. Yes I remember that I hope we rise as quick as we did back then but I can't see it seems a long way off
  5. + 1, not strong enough yet and this is not good for his confidence
  6. What I have seen all of them doing though is apply pressure, which we have been missing, If Bail is out for the entire game as opposed to completing concussion test, who goes to Gaff who has been unable to provide any outside run. If we lose but bring same effort as the first half it is a big turnaround from last week
  7. Another keyboard hero, I'd say judging by your avatar you'd struggle to crack an egg!
  8. To be honest if we win a grand final I'll take any criticism that comes our way, oh just to experience it once I will die a happy man
  9. I hate Essendon, but I admired watching them tonight, stuck together as a TEAM, backed each other up and attacked every contest with a fantastic intensity. Both sides were actually hard at it all night. Players giving everything for the coach. Yes I hate them but I would love our boys to stand up and hit every contest like that. Players like Hocking and Howlett are the types we could have done with picking up in the drafts years ago, skinny project types as opposed to guys who are just hard and never give up that is a glaring deficiency we have now. Hocking would be a nightmare to play against I watched him tonight every bump was with intent to hurt the opposition or at least make him earn a possession, he was desperate as were his teammates in their attack on the loose ball. Cmon Dees time to lift you may lack some skills but have a look at both these sides tonight for the non-negotiables.
  10. Why cant you get onto the club to get your mother in every week
  11. Thanks Frankie, loved it, great memories there and hopefully a glimpse of what we will return to
  12. Actually Hardtrack I have been told they are a little bit worried about the game not that they don't expect to win, but at 0-2 they are expecting us to come out fighting hard early and don't want to be ambushed. Had they been 2-0 or even 1-1 they may have been given another week. Kerr takes a good tag and is fantastic at the stoppages where they have been smashed in their first two games, the Frenchman is just pure class and also can rotate through the middle. Solid effort from our boys will prove your last sentence correct
  13. Absolutley 1st tackle drive him into the ground
  14. If nothing else old dee at least it seems to have made you upbeat for the first time in a long time. Like you I hope it translates on Saturday Cmon Dees
  15. Dwayne Lamb did it in exactly the same time frame when he broke an arm in the ealry 90's
  16. Great effort to all who turned up today, from us Demons here in the west we are with you in spirit. Small things like this are what makes a club and lets hope the support and spirit shows on the field tomorrow. Go Dees
  17. Good news in a bad week but in all honesty did we expect anything else, Grimesy is red & blue through and through
  18. Make him earn it at Casey like Tappy did last week
  19. Just get our [censored] together on the field pick 1 or pick 8 no difference to me just get 5 more in through the draft who are willing to run, listen and do what is best for the team, priority pick I hope we sort ourselves out and it's not an issue
  20. Don't mind this line up, on paper a bit more run, which hopefully translates into better spread and a man on man game. Not sure about Sellar Glass is to clever for him would not be surprised for whats to get a reprieve, Glass's weakness is having to run and turn he runs well in straight lines but lacks a lot of mobility. Spencer v Cox would have been my match up. Those calling for mass changes pretty hard to do in one week, I think when we look at our side around Round 10/12 will be a lot different in personell as compared to Round 1
  21. Your on the money Hardtrack the Casey move is a brave and long term decision made by the club, which will reap benefits once we get competative on the field. Whilst several Dees fans called in to radio last week 3 I remember were kids and all 3 were from around Cranbourne, that says something to me
  22. We can but I don't think we will I would love a win against them more than any other side but would settle for a much improved performance and a strong effort across the board. I dont think Lecras will play but then again they really want to win this game because they do not want to be 0-3 which means Kerr & Lecras are being considered. I hope it rains and turns into a slog as I believe that may even out the contest and keep the score low, to be close for a lot of the game may increase some confidence
  23. You are spot on here, I spoke to Woey a few times whilst he was coaching at East Freo and he was very passionate about what he was doing with the club. He coaches as he played leaves no stone unturned and was heavily involved with their younger players and setting good culture. They were a bit of a basket case when he took over but he pointed them in the right direction and was not afraid to stand up to the two AFL clubs when they discussed wanting their players to play in certain positions. Woey whilst very serious at times and focussed alaso had the flexibility to have a bit of a laugh with his players when the time was right. Can't comment on what is happening with him up at Brissy but I am aware he still loves the Dees and does not really talk about what occured when he moved to the Pies. He has moved on from there and would be a great asset to any clubin the AFL. Still a very fit guy as well and IMO would be good for our young mids
  24. Agree with you Jnr Mac, no sour grapes dignified and full of praise for the club and it's supporters on his way out! The SEN boys on morning glory searched for some stories this morning but he gave them nothing and was articulate in every answer!
