  1. Said this as part of my reply on the positives thread that he is playing like someone who has the weight of the world on his shoulders, either the decision talk is getting to him or he just wants to tell someone at the club he is gone. Why do you think Eddie deflected the attention away from his boys so early in the season no matter what we say it has affected the club this year
  2. Simple Answer to title of this thread is Because I love the Dees and will until the day I die. That is why times like this hurt so much if we didn't love the club we would just move on and jump back on when good times and finals appearances returned. I didn't start supporting this club because they were a powerhouse (Irish Immigrant kid who turned the Winners on in 1980 and saw Melbourne v Fitzroy, so picked the team in blue) I copped years of torment at school from the kids who followed Carlton, Essendon and Hawthorn. In 1987 there was the fairytale and hope and there have been ups and downs for many years since, but there has and always will be hope. Unfortunatley I spent the early to mid 90's in Ireland so missed a big chunk of our good years barring RTE/BBC highlight packages I am nearly 40 years old now so have not been alive for a premiership. The thought of actually watching the final 5 minutes of the last game of the season knowing your team is going to win the Premiership is something I could only compare to watching my lotto numbers being drawn (either would be unbelievable). But I live in hope I have faith one day it will come and it will be wonderful thing to witness and yes worth all the pain we have endured. As we say in Ireland Tiocfadh Ar Lor "Our Day Will Come" Red, Blue & Proud
  3. Positives v Eagles Howe: Great Hands and knows where to run Petterd: showed something up front, led well in 2nd half Watts:Not a great day for him but never gave up and work rate was always there, that shows you more about him than anything else HE REALLY WANTS IT NOW Blease:Showed some pace and why he was highly regarded before the leg break Frawley: Showed arrogance and rebounded well Garland:Wasn't beaten and was there at every contest which came his way Jamar & Martin: Beat the best ruck duo in the AFL Trengove:This kid is all class and after onlt two years absolutley bleeds red & blue Jones:Gives his all Bartram:Kerr was good early but Bartram nullified him for most of the game and most of all we didn't give up, for the last 2 weeks we have lay down but today after the terrible 2nd quarter we came back out and had a crack, manned up and pretty much matched them for 2nd half. Hopefully we learnt the importance of getting the ball into the forward line early Season Positives: The old guard is being replaced by up and coming boys who want (for the most) to be part of something We realise things just wont happen because you have talent, which we thought at the end of 2011. We realise we need to put in some hard yards to get where the good sides are Re-signing of some quality kids The Tom Scully saga whatever the outcome is nearly over BTW IMHO he is playing like a young man with the weight of the world on his shoulders, I don't believe he has made a decision yet and all the talk is getting to him now, either that or he just wants to tell someone yes I am going Martin, Watts, Trangove & Howe
  4. It's called self preservation, they all know there is going to be a clean out of the list and they are doing whats best for themselves and not the team. Pretty common with teams down the bottom end of the ladder at this time of year, not what you expect from a side who crazy as it is can still scramble into 8th (which i do not think by any means they will)
  5. +1 I dont think he is on big money, and unless we get a good trade no harm keeping him. His confidence is absolutley shot the mark he took on 50 summed it up, he was looking to give off from the moment he took the ball and couldn't handball it to Dunn quick enough. A player with confidence would have went back and slotted it. West Coast were the clanger and turnover kings last season, now Scott Selwood, Brad Ebert and Embley are playing good footy and hitting targets confidence is a big thing for players. Make no mistake they are no better than some players we have on our list
  6. All good in theory, Eagles don't play games at trade table and Gaff is contracted till end of 2012, unless you are prepared to give up Trengove then he will be still with WCE next season. Thats not to say we don't start approaching his agent early next season and put the come home factor into his head early. If he hasn't signed at seasons end hit WCE up at 2012 trade table
  7. As someone who lives in Perth I can tell you all Kim Hagdorn is a crab, he is way off the mark with his info at Wet Coke & Freo. I would not take any notice of an article written by him. He also wrote a column last week that we were looking at approaching Worsfold for the coaching role.
  8. We as a club have been spoken of for a long time now as a soft touch, we don't like the tag but I think most of us agree it fits currently. Yes when really under the pump and subject to public criticism & scrutiny, against Adelaide & Essendon this season we lifted. But it took that public shame for our older guys to play hard and lift into it. What I am saying is they are not naturally hard and it is not something they bring to the game week in week out. We talk of changing the culture and why things haven't changed yet, Mark my words the hard players we have at the club and the ones who lead by example are still young. The culture at this club is changing but it will not happen overnight, Watts,Trengove, Tapscott,Mckenzie, Bail, Jetta (Yes give him time I think there is hope for him, he loves to get stuck in if nothing else), Frawley, Howe, Gawn etc are the ones who will effect and have started the change. Another pre season or two will see great strides taken what player or supporter of this club could not be impressed by the efforts of Trengove, Watts, Tappy, Mckenzie, Frawley and see light at the end of the tunnel. The guard is changing and these boys will take over we will see in time when these boys are 22-25 a team that is harder and more accountable. They lead by example and we will have new players coming in who will follow the culture of these guys and not those left over from our front running era of the 2000's (Not including junior in this). I honestly believe the likes of Jones, Sylvia and Maloney will get a new lease of life and be forced to follow the example from this bunch and will want to be part of something. If these boys have not shown Scully the way forward then sorry Tom but you are not right for us, I would love you to remain with us just so your training and work ethic could flow on to the younger in coming guys but if thats not to be well, we will move forward never the less. If nothing else the signing of these boys is a godsend and much needed to the Dees supporters who believe the media hype that the club is in a crisis and nothing but doom and gloom hovers over the club. All I can say is I am in for life and look forward to the future ahead, I only hope Jimmy gets to see the finishing touches of what he started. GO DEES!
  9. Worth thinking about when supporters crucify our list with a large number of sub 50 gamers, it's the older heads we need. Menal, Christenson & Duncan all stand out aat the Cattery as they have bigger older heads around them which unfortunatley we lack and will do for another 2 to 3 years. We have quality kids and apart frm getting games into them it is imperative we trade for some experienced bigger bodies and even some mongrel, would love a Byron Pickett type to pop up again
  10. I'm hearing rumours Sydney are into Colin Sylvia, if that is true, play hard ball at trade time. Tell the Swans - Here he is we want Sam Reid in return and as a package if Scully goes (and it still is if) we will give you one of our compensation picks in return for Keiran Jack. If they take that I will drive from Perth to Melbourne myself then convey Col to Sydney and drive the other two back. In those two pick ups you know what you get honest performers who bring something extra to the team, Fight which is what we need. I know Sylvia has the big body which we desperatley need but he doesn't appear to me to have that leave everything on the field endeavour in him.
  11. Jimmy my thoughts are with you, Sam and the kids. For their sake take the step back and enjoy your time with them. Your work with the Dees is done, I can not put into words what you have done for me or this club. I had two infant sons when you took over the club and thought there would be no club for them to follow as they grew up. You have without doubt inspired, drawn people together and given us hope. To everyone at Demonland, or anyone who involved in anyway with the club, if we don't take inspiration from this man we are a disgrace. What has come to light over the last week sickens me to the core but as we have seen Jimmy's first thoughts are with the club and apologising that he hasn't done enough. He want's to sort the mess out before sorting himself out. I don't care about Scully, the board in fighting or the players not getting on with admin, board members etc. Lets hope Jimmy recovers but everyone of us owe it to this man and his family. We must continue the fight as jimmy would, forget our differences and move forward. We must all give Jimmy something to be proud of. If we can't do that than I feel very sorry for this club. Jimmy take care brother, worry about Sam and the kids don't worry about the Dees with your inspiration "Tiocfadh Ar Lor"
  12. I have spent the last few months reading all these posts regarding Tom Scully and in all honesty the most pathetic thing about the scenario is not the journalists who are acting on rumour and the Ablett precedence last season. No it is the people on Demonland who are responding to every story, assessing all of Toms action through glasses tinted by their own will he or wont he stay view. It seriously is like a pack of schoolkids or teenage girls in turmoil after breaking up with their childhood sweetheart (this was never more evident then when I read the CRAP on this site after Brad Green appeared on the couch - What an over reaction) Nothing has changed either Tom stays or goes. There is nothing we can do about it, I am a demon supporter who lives in WA and have onlhy briefly spoken with Scully so can not judge him on that. I see him as a level headed 19/20 year old who all assess all options before making the decision that is right for him. That decision and this is just my opinion will not be based solely on the financial package being offered by GWS, the benefits of media and outside endorsement in Victoria will also be taken into account. I want Tom to stay it means so much to the current crop of players to stay together through the next decade, but as we have seen with the Geelong group from the early part of the decade there will be casualties along the way. Maloney, Sprigg and Rahilly all had a place in the Cats best twenty two 2 to 3 years before they really started hitting their straps but all missed out on September success. The same will happen with us who those players will be I do not know but there will be surprises along the way. Lets as Demon supporters remember Tom is not bigger than the club and if he goes than accept it, life goes on next year we will again enter a season anticipating improvement and hope for the best for everybody who wears the red and the blue, I love this club and I have enjoyed the development since Bails stepped in, yes I think we have not leaped forward the way we expected after last season but we are not a club over burdened by a large number of pending retirements and trust me the good times will come, Maybe my expectations are lower than others for this season (although the big losses are concerning). In closing stay on board and forget about the Scully scenario it will end as it ends and when all the dust settles we along with the club will still be here with a future and hopefully he is part of it
