Liam Jurrah's return to training
Pennant St Dee replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jeysus as a proud Irishman and Dee, got to get me one of these Tiocfadh Ar Lor -
And so was getting Mitch CLARK 8 months ago

Now DL7 your talking common sense, although I agree I must also consider there seasoned players like Cox, Glass, Kerr, Lecras & Embley had big impacts as well as Nicoski & Lynch pulling seasons out of their a%#e
-
Can we stop this sh%t I certainly don't accept 120pt losses so don't put us all in the same basket, and whils we all want to go on about being let down for last 48 years and being down in the dumps, lets have a reality check. Whilst I have yet to see a Premiership lets not forget the seasons under Swooper where we were right up there, while Danners gave us a few good years although honestly apart from 98 we were never seriously in the hunt. Any uneducated person who jumped on to this site would think so who are MFC what have they had 48 wooden spoons in a row

Roos will have a side that is always hard to beat but that is it, there is a difference in making the 8 and building a side to have a decent crack when their time comes around, for Freo they better do something in the next 2 years because after that it's bye bye to Pav, Sandy & Mcpharlin, whilst GWS will need to do something more to attract and keep quality players, they will have some extra coin but there will also be the go home factor for a lot. Tigers and GC for me are the biggest threats but as they say a lot can happen in 12 months if you have the core nucleus like West Coast a couple of fresh faces in there with Cox, Kerr, Glass & Lecras and all of a sudden your right back in it

Old Dee from what you've said above we are somewhat on the same line of thinking, where we differ is I believe unlike the previous regime Neeld and the new FD have drawn a line in the sand re senior players. There will be no more games given on reputation alone. Our kids are decent make no mistake we have a bit more size about us in the middle so will not be pushed off the ball as much (Although this may on occassion occur against some sides). Neeld whilst keeping an eye on the future and identifying the young leaders at our club is also looking to the now, hence the reason why the big bodies were brought in and the change in game plan for more of an arm wrestle style of game. My belief is you will see over the progress of the season the new brigade stepping up and Jones taking big strides. Where improvement in wins will come will be against the likes of St Kilda, North, Dogs, Sydney, Richmond, Freo and those around us. It's not about pulling one out of your ring against one of the top 4 only to drop one you expect to win. By winning our fair share against these sides is where the steps will be taken IMO. Regular improvement against the Top 4/5 will come from 2014 and beyond

Old I do not know how many games we will win and if you are going to judge our season on wins and losses then you will be dissapointed. Games we expect to win we may drop some and then we will win a game or two we don't expect to. I expect to see the team improve and without clicheing Bailey be competative - over 4 quarters week in week out. So in a nutshell I expect 10 -12 wins but will no single out games as whilst I am all for the club planning for the future think as a playing group Neeld will have the boys focussing on games by a week to week basis. If we don't get the 10 -12 wins but I see improvement and us heading in the right direction I will be somewhat happy. Don't forget Old the way we started 1987 and where we were at mid season.

FFS Old Dee we get your not impressed with last nights game you've put it across every thread on here, Thank christ the great man Big Jimmy is not this negative!
-
The only benefit I got from this was a recent trip to Bali with Hawkers wanting to get me and the kids in to buy some AFL gear, I figured out fairly quick the Dees weren't high on their list of items to sell, so it helped me get rid of the Hawkers fairly quickly (Tongue in Cheek) Seriously though I believe this is why the Casey move will be significant
-
We'll I'm sorry my friend, can't help you there, mark my wors we are better than 2011, there will be setbacks but we will move forward not as much as some would like but we will take some steps
-
That's the Nail hit firmly on the head and the reason we have suffered so long for Danners failure to turn over the list and rely on those who continually let him down when the going got to tough
-
Old Dee we lost a game, what do you want to do slash your wrists, do you think last nights effort means all the work the club has out in both on and off the field since the end of last season is now undone. Anyone who thinks this is going to be a smooth ride from the time Neeld was announced is sorely mistaken. We will get there but be prepared for some turbulence on the way!. Keep your chin up Old

FFS it's NAB Cup an have you all forgotten last weeks game, people were talking Top 4, welcome to reality, we are a fair way off the Hawks but we are not as bad as some are stating. As I said in other posts you don't just flick a switch and turn things around, it will happen at some stage but really we have played 2 full games and as some even said in the game day post we did not play the style they have seen in training. Take a deep breath it's pre season when we try things the real season starts in three weeks time, then we can see were we are at.

Frawley is the only defender in the AFL who has Buddy'r measure and has neveer been towelled up by him. Buddy relies on making the lead and having the bal kicked over his and the defenders head before doubling back and beating his man for pace, unforturnatley hasn't worked against Chippy, this is a Jakovich v Carey of the 90's I hope all over again with the defender having the upper hand

Liam Jurrah: charged, on bail and discussion closed for now
Pennant St Dee replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
This thread is unbelievable if you read it from start to finish talk about jumping to conclusions and changing your thoughts as further information comes through from the media. Look don't take what the media are saying as gospel they take pieces from here and there make assumptions and print what is sensational. Yes an incident has occured, those involved are the only ones who know what really occured and that is if and only if (not stereotyping here but speaking from personal experience) they are sober enough to remember what occured. The investigators will not know what occured they will have information in form of possibly statements and forensic evidence. They may not know exaclty what occured but may be putting the matter before the courts for a decision to be made on the facts presented. I suggest we forget rumours, what the media says and just let the court process take it's course. Liam will discuss it with the club but what occured is subject to a matter before the courts so until it is dealt with none of us will know what occured. What's done is done and nothing will change that. Focus now moves onto Liam and the club getting him through what will be a traumatic period. The court process will not be dealt with before the season is finished therefore the club will assess what affect it will have on Liam's season and whether him playing is best for him or if the issues affect him to much. No person is bigger than the club and I'm sure the club will assess the entirity of the situation and the outcome will be whats best for Liam and the club. So leave it and lets move on until the matter is dealt with. We have a season ahead to focus on and those in the club in the appropriate areas will take care of Liam, while the fotty department continues on with it's role. -

Agree with you here on this one Of our best 5 in that period we had front runners who did not know how to do it hard Trapper - could have been anything Yze - front runner White - built like Tarzan but did not impose himself as much as less talented ruckman have, the change in the ruck rule limiting his run up curbed his game a fair bit Bruce - consistent for the decade of the noughties but I sometimes felt he cost us some turnovers by not attacking contests as hard as he should have Neitz - the odd one out here gave everything I'll take winning ugly every day of the week over entertaining up and down performances

At this stage Neither are a concern

Good post

No retraction it sends the message to all that lack of discipline will not be tolerated, the benefits far outweigh the negatives here

Olisik I have worked closely with Indigenous groups for the last 16 years and whilst not professing to be an expert or know exactly what is happening in Liams home community, I believe the club has done the right thing here, time to drop it I think and see how it pans out

Watch the 97 GF JARMAN & MCLEOD Changed the game after half time and I think back to back Norm Smith medals makes you a game breaker in the best possible way BROWN was at the peak of his powers from 02-05 and it was Black who dominated the clearances in the 03 GF early on when the games was there to be won

Mono & Olisik I think a bit of humble Pie needed on this one, better to let him go home while he is injured and do what he needs to do in the community and return to MFC with a clear head. Probably better not to comment any further as your comments are pretty rash and lack compassion
