  1. Re watch yesterdays game and see how ridiculous taking Byrnes out is
  2. Very good point, the development was bad but the picks who were not body type to put on sufficient size and develop, their work rate was not the required level to succeed. Brock Mclean for all his faults was a good mid and another two years of Junior would have provided good leadership and culture to pass the baton at a time which would have been more appropriate. Yes their is a problem with development but I think the likes of Bennell, Morton & Gysberts did not have the physical or make up or mental apptitude to become consistent performers at this level. Maloney after last season was a no brainer he had to go but performed well for us prior to that, yes he had many faults and was a B grader at best but decent size at clearances. Had Mclean been kept and Junior been around till last year the midfield would IMO not be in the dire straits it is now. Viney is a great pick up but still a couple of years away from grabbing games by the scruff of the neck regularly, Trenners has many leadership qualities but his 1%ers mean little with the lack of quality mids we have, Jones is great but needs another good mid in with him. We can all dream about picking up a Dale Thomas or out of contract star but we need to pick up two B grade mids from good sides who are on the fringe, similar to the Mcglynn/Kennedy Hawks scenario. Freo, Adelaide, Brissy & Port would love to get their hands on Tom Boyd, I don't think GWS will take him so we need to make it happen should we finish 17th and in return we need mids ready to go from Round 1, also target 1 of GWS kids
  3. I said it last year when people were saying Port were rubbish and still maintain they have a very very good midfield. Boak, Cornes, Robbie Gray & Cassisi are all top quality mids. Added to that this year Hartlett & Wingard have had injury free pre seasons and Wines is ready made in anyones language a team with mids like that is always going to do well given time. Adelaide finished off well yesterday but they were a rabble in the first half and have been like that for most of this season. In a nutshell people comparing what Hinkley has done with Port, what Sand did with the Crows in 2012 and what Neeld has done is like comparing apples with oranges
  4. Good post C & B Let down today badly by our decision making and turnovers which cost us 5/6 goals directly Our run and spread continues to be a problem We lacked forward pressure when the ball went to ground in our forward half and once they cleared it through the corridor they run hard to provide options and leads
  5. LOL This is hilarious. "and then for no reason at all the guy just hit me" you have said this a few times in your short life haven't you
  6. You potted Todd Viney who was not recruiter for the last 7 years, go and troll somewhere else
  7. ^^^^^^^ Dylan Shiel is a very good mid in the making and probably the only likely target out of this group. Fyfe is no chance he is a country boy so Perth is in no way stale to him, Sloane well don't think he was impressed when available and told we would take him only to be overlooked for Bennell. If you want to go hard for a midfielder from the West go for Shuey but another one hard to get
  8. Couldn't agree more, front runners & fair weather supporters of the highest order
  9. Keeps the competition intersting with Swans bridging the gap. Big game for us next week against East Freo. Demons are having a good year
  10. There is no shortage of quality young mids at GWS, Dylan Shiel & Adam Treloar are two I really like the look of. Dom Tyson showed a bit last year to
  11. They were never really in it old dee, they were brave all day which was good to see. Mark Seaby was the difference between the two teams and both sides were missing key players We should beat Swans today and depending on results today there could be a gap opening between the top 4 and the other sides
  12. Hasn't handled the hard tag so well thus far this season TBH
  13. He is not in there for what he does when he has the ball, he is vital to the side for what he does when they have the ball!
  14. I saw him play colts at Claremont a few years ago and he was very good. great with his hands and displayed great awareness and vision in close confines. Will find it tough to break into Sydney's midfield and could be worth a crack but in all honesty I have paid no attention to him since he moved from WA. I wouldn't give to much away for him though I have to say, whilst they are a quality midfield 2 years in the AFL system without a game should reduce your currency.
  15. I know nothing about this but just as devils advocate. When first released Essendon and an unamed player from another club were put forward to Demetriou as coming up during the ACC investigation. They can't have full knowledge of every association players and staff would have. This may have been a broad directive to all players and staff attached to the MFC
  16. B: Garland Frawley Terlich HB: Strauss McDonald Grimes C: Evans Sylvia M. Jones HF: Byrnes Pedersen Howe F: Davey Gawn Watts R: Jamar N. Jones Trengove I/C: Tapscott Bail McKenzie Sub: Blease or Kent Ins: Strauss, Mckenzie & either Blease or Kent Out: Clark/Viney - injured, Jetta - suspended Mckenzie to match up on Rich, Bail to run with Rockliff, Gawn/Jamar to remain as close to goal square as possible unless at stoppages in front 30m allow and rotate between themselves resting in this role whilst not playing followers role, Watts to lead into space behind HF.
  17. Yes but Black played for their two's on the weekend and will be brought in for a bit of leadership through the middle, may struggle to run out the game but will come in if 60/70% because they will want to set the standard early
  18. + 1 yes he absolutely knows how to run and spread, in 2010 I thought he and Trenners complimented each other really well and would be a great midfield combination for years to come. But that is history now and Scully is no longer of interest to me unless we are playing GWS
  19. 6. Jack Grimes - is and will continue to develop as a leader 5. Jack Trengove - starting to get fitness back, tackling machine 4. Max Gawn , good at bounces but provided more around the ground which is what we have been crying out for 3. Shannon Byrnes - Showed a lot today answered a lot of critics 2. Nathan Jones - once again you know what your going to get 1. Michael Evans - stepped up when needed to Unlucky Howe, Bail & Pederson
  20. He actually improved in the second half, was not great but the guy is actually mentally shot at the moment, there is a choice he plays the next 3 weeks straight at Casey where he makes a statement and can't be left out or he plays again next week. My gut tells me to play him again next week
  21. Kind of agree, whilst you are no use to your team when you are on the sidelines, sometimes you need someone to take one for the team, a bit like the young Hawks under Clarkson decided to draw a line in the sand and Richie Vandenburg stepped up to show they weren't going to be pushed around anymore. On the flipside GWS and Whitfield in particular are hardly as physical as the Bombers side of that era
  22. I know what you say but we can address the bad tomorrow. Wins will be rare this year but living in Perth I go to work tomorrow after a Dees win and both WA sides losing, that will be even rarer!
  23. Malthouse was the same last night and has made previous comments that it is the players moment.
