  1. Must say Biff, he has shown a much greater attitude in games this season. There is only 1 occasion I have seen him have a day when he just lapsed back to his habits of 2012. Can't say I said he'd never make it but was firm in the view he didn't deserve to be drafted last season and maintain that. I'm aware he is doing a lot more personal training and his fitness has improved greatly, I would assume the fags, bourbon and cheech & chongs are a thing of the past. The kick in the arse could turn out to be the best thing that happened to Garlett last year, I hope the kid keeps improving and doesn't get drafted and think the hard work is over
  2. As promised whenever I see him this year I will report on him, rushed around earlier today so did not take a pen and paper for notes, so apologies in advance for no detailed assessment. East Perth vs Swans very good game today which the Royals won by 12 points in an encounter which was full of intensity and the occasional spot fire. Dayle Garlett had a decent 2012 and come finals time with the lift in intensity found him wanting and he was woeful. 1%ers and work without the ball Today Garlett was excellent, I have seen him play games with higher possessions but it was what he did today off the ball which impressed me. Several times today when the ball went to ground in the Swans forward 50 he was desperate to apply pressure and lock it in. He laid numerous blocks to provide time and space for team mates which isn't a major thing but is something which last year was non existent in his game. I also witnessed two occasions today when the ball was pumped deep into the forward line and Garlett played the percentages and made spoils to cause a stoppage and keep pressure on the Royals defence. On previous occasions Garlett has been more pre-occupied with trying to take a specky and when being outmuscled by a bigger opponent his team has been caught on the rebound I mentioned before Garlett laid blocks to create/maintain space but he also ran hard leading up to provide space behind him, to allow 1 on 1's behind him and provide options. When in possession As part of the 1%ers Garlett lead hard and on occasion he was hit up within 55/60m which he can kick from and has previously but today he showed poise and would either feed off a handpass to a team mate or hit one on the lead laces out on the chest with a perfectly weighted pass, which gave the defenders no chance. Along the line of playing as a team man was a couple of kicks to the hot spot when he could have tried something spectacular and it's hard to criticise because I was so impressed by him doing this but maybe he still may need to try the odd spectacular goal but that may be him maturing. Provided 1 great highlight with a quality pack mark and went back and drilled a goal. Almost provided goal of the season from the boundary with a kick along the ground which hit the post late in the game. What impressed me more than anything (as I was standing right behind him) was his awareness after gathering the ball not to blaze away but look and see if there was an option at the top of the square or whether he could centre the ball to a team mate, after quickly realising there was no option he then made the decision to try and kick the goal from a near on impossible angle While he did miss some gettable shots he still possesses exquisite skills and his passes to team mates are perfectly weighted and often make the receiver go to the right spot, but I never doubted this. Summary As said previously I have seen Garlett play games with greater possession counts and maybe even lay more tackles, not certain but think he ended up with 3 or 4 tackles but what he did was corral defenders and apply pressure without diving in and forcing a quick clearance, turnover or stoppage. His impact today was greater than just the 5 goals he kicked and it is the first time I have watched him and not seen him caught flat footed or admiring a quality pass. Dalyle Garlett gut ran today on numerous occasions and cramped up several times. Previously he would have stood flat footed and waited for the ball to come to him. Today he would stretch off before getting back into the action. Garlett lifted to an intensity I have not seen from him and did not get easy possessions/goals against a WAFL cellar dweller. East Perth are currently on form, at least number 2 in the comp and IMO may win it, if he continues like this I'll be happy to say I was wrong about him and he has the fire in the belly to forge a career. On todays effort would definitely go 2nd round and a club looking for an impact forward may take a punt on him with a late 1st round pick. Todays effort was close to but not quite as good as 2004/5 Aaron Davey, ie the foot skills were there just not quite the tackling pressure but not to far off 8/10 on todays effort

  4. I think mum and dad have gone out for the night and she's hit the liquor cabinet!
  5. They are also an insight into the mindset and level of play many d'landers have played at. NFI a fair few
  6. Yes I've tipped and put $20 on at the TAB paying $4.90, don't think we're without a chance
  7. Very good point Old, todays story goes to show how off field turmoil needs to become a thing of the past and something all of Roos, Eade, Williams, Craig and other candidates would consider. Eade and Williams would be at loggerheads with such a leader and Roos would just say no to the offered vacancy and be justified in saying, nothing has changed I am not taking the job for that reason
  8. I think the last 8 weeks or thereabouts since Jackson has been in his current position has shown the benefits of good governance, stability and sound decision making. I consider the previous period of destabilsation at the club when Stockdale was involved. I don't like the idea of I'm president or I'm nothing this is about the club I don't want a person leading us where it's all about me! I have been happy with Jackson thus far and want him to stay, already todays story shows heading back to the past will see us leaking like a sieve to the media again and failing to learn from our problems of the past. This is about the club Alan not about you
  9. Says a lot about your source more than anything else
  10. Worsfold will not be sacked, the decision whether to continue is solely his without any input from their board. I have spoken to a very close friend of Woosha's (ex-premiership player) who didn't ask directly but his gut feel is Woosha will continue and has been through a difficult personal time this season. It's just a gut feel on his behalf, he may be wrong but he would know him better than most.
  11. You know the problem WYL, Hawthorn got their house in order after the failed merge and thought outside the box and "this is the way we always did things". We all know what we did during that time and that is one of the main reasons why we are lagging behind off field. Beggars can't be chosers
  12. I'd rather give up pick 2 for Brad Crouch, who IMO will prove better in the long term, don't get me wrong Wines is going to be a very good player but so is Crouch
  13. Nothing really changed still no definitive no, club is doing what is right and covering all bases. Make no mistake he will be spoken to again before a final decision is made. At the end of the day there are plenty of good options out there
  14. Cheers Swoop!
  15. Same salary cap Old
  16. Clarification on this wouldn't that be via PJ who is apparently overseas and has not according to Roos spoken to him since the first call!
  17. hindsight is a wonderful thing old dee, in 2010 we had a better list going forward according to many. Funny old game and things change very quickly. when considering Meth Coast's list consider names who will are diminshing very fast and will be gone in either 2014 or 15 Cox - Lycett & Sinclair are not up to it Kerr - like Cousins and Judd very hard type of player to replace Glass - very underated and on his last legs, Mckenzie is no where near as good and does not marshall the defence the same was as Glass does Embley - good 2nd tier player who provides depth Watters - Bashed his body around and no replacement Adam Selwood - finished Le Cras - I will give him the benefit of the doubt as it is 1st season back from serious knee injury but is a long way off his form pre-knee recon That is a big gap in the list to fill and any Roos will view it this way
  18. They wont pay that much Old Dee, they would rather get a coach for less coin and spend the money on the Footy Department. That's not to say he wouldn't head to Meth Coast for less and be surrounded by a larger off field team. Just not sure he would move to Perth from Sydney, but like others have said I have no idea what Roos will do next year, having said that I do still believe he is considering the position as coach but is yet to make any decision
  19. Demon for Life, in the down times (many in my 33 years as a supporter) and copping it from opposition supporters only makes me love the Dees more, I want to get the feeling of Round 22 1987 again and my kids to have it "Tiocfadh Ar Lar" (Our Day Will Come)
  20. How about we get in Adams ear and if he wants to come PSD, if they want Jamar we can trade for something else
  21. Yes it's just an MFC thing FFS, Muston, Dowler, Thorp, Egan, Tambling, Laycock, Tenace, Trotter, Riley Dunn, Fergus Watts, Danny Meyer, Vezpremi, Oakley-Nicholls the list goes on but no keep thinking we are the only club who does this
  22. I was at the East Freo game the other week in the feral section and he seemed to be the whipping boy!
  23. Tadhg, my brother is married to an Australian without any Irish background, she tells everyone who asks about the spelling sounds like TA-DIG, it's actually Irish for Tim
  24. I am no apologist but I hate people behind keyboards talking it up, every one is entitled to an opinion but there are ways to express it.
  25. Don't tell us hard man, tell Colin himself you know where the lads train, got to love keyboard warriors.
