  1. Shattered by the night game. Was planning to go down Saturday as well. How about that forward line, the Spencil at FF and the Stefan Martin Experience in a pocket. Imagine if we got Juice down there as well.
  2. And that's why I heart Twitter.
  3. So you want 1990 onwards? I'll have Pickett.
  4. At least if he's overhyped Clint Bizzell/Gary Ablett style we might get a decent defender out of it.
  5. That's white man's electricity you're using. I entered, but I don't have a story tragic enough to fit in 25 words. Meanwhile I expect that the people who think giving the MFC jumper to somebody who isn't a player will be the ones jumping the fence and crash tackling the kids who act as mascots this week?
  6. When I went to Football Park last year for the Port game it was the most placid crowd I've ever seen. I've seen more passion at North vs Freo games. Obviously the Crows fans are somewhat more animated!
  7. I'd like to say he's not flashy enough to win, but when Rivers beat Davey (and not undeservedly may I add) it proved anything can happen.
  8. You forgot the scenario that somehow injures Judd, Warnock and Johnson as well. Not sure how you're going to get to Johnson sitting in the stands but I'm sure we'll find a way.
  9. Agreed, I'm not for tinkering with the rewards for wins/losses. It's been the same since the 1880's and we need to keep some tradition while everything is being destroyed. Even if the scores don't really make sense. Why 4 points win and 2 points draw and not 2/1? What was so good about four? I respect the thought behind the idea, and if I was going to launch some kind of wild summer footy league (p.s Why has nobody ever launched a summer footy league?) I might consider it, but for the AFL I want to keep it as it is. Same goes for people trying to get the 9pt goal into the game. No thanks.
  10. At least Freo only got Phil Gilbert
  11. Oops, I just discovered this thread looking for something else. Thanks guys, I might use this thread for any posts asking for info. For instance, does anyone have reliable lists of our old reserves/u19's coaches? As you can see on http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com/tiki-index.php?page=reserves this page I've pieced bits and pieces together through old articles, but as is always the case one article usually contradicts another.
  12. Good to see Dunn back down front where he belongs.
  13. I can't believe people wanted us to pick him even after he said he didn't want to play for us. If he's going like that in a good team where he wants to be imagine what he would have been like with us?
  14. It helps when the players want to play for your team. There's a difference between Bradshaw who basically declared zero interest in playing for us and Cousins who was on his last legs, without a club and needed somebody to take a chance on him to continue his career. I'll bet he wouldn't have gone to Richmond if any of the good sides had offered to take him. Having said that if we can get them and they want to play for us I wouldn't object. Christ I probably would have taken Matthew Lloyd for a year if he was into it. At least it would raise our chances of getting a free inside 50.
  15. Especially after playing for us and Fitzroy Talk about a charmed life!
  16. At the very least if we're going to start recruiting international players we've got to get ones with fanciful names.
  17. Improved performance but still a 7/8 goal loss.
  18. Stack the show with foreigners!
  19. Obviously having a club legend as their coach didn't really work.. Come on down Todd
  20. I pity the poor receptionist who probably had to sit there on Monday morning and cop hell from morons ringing up with far less reasoned comments than the letter by the OP. Hope she rang up and chucked a sickie at 5.10 on Saturday afternoon.
  21. Wouldn't you still have to get them through the draft? Aren't international rookies the only players you can sign directly?
  22. How come every man and their dog missed Aaron Davey? That worked out alright for us.
  23. It was reported at half time on SEN as "fact" and then never mentioned again. No mention of where it happened, who saw it or how the reporter (Granland?) knew. Sounds like bollocks to me but it's a pretty wild thing to just make up. Probably saw one guy piff his scarf on the ground.
  24. Life is a series of disasters and disappointments. Good to get used to it early.
  25. Surely there's a 20+ KPF with a proven record in the WAFL or SANFL that we could have looked at with a late pick (given that we were pretty much out of the PSD and rookie draft). Christ even if they're 27 years old at least a big body down there would drag some of the better big defenders away and give the other guys a chance to get near the thing. I'm not convinced by this theory that every player has to be 15 years old or you're going totally in the wrong direction. One or two mature aged players where they're required, picked up with selections that would only be used on a speculative youngster anyway, surely couldn't hurt. Look at when West Coast got Troy Wilson. They were a pretty ordinary side at the time but a 29 year old kicked 83 goals in 37 games, and I'll bet he won a few games off his own boot while he was doing it. It might not work and you might get somebody ordinary like Aaron Edwards, but bloody hell the way we're going Aaron Edwards might almost walk into our forward line.
