  1. Good to see Dunn back down front where he belongs.
  2. I can't believe people wanted us to pick him even after he said he didn't want to play for us. If he's going like that in a good team where he wants to be imagine what he would have been like with us?
  3. It helps when the players want to play for your team. There's a difference between Bradshaw who basically declared zero interest in playing for us and Cousins who was on his last legs, without a club and needed somebody to take a chance on him to continue his career. I'll bet he wouldn't have gone to Richmond if any of the good sides had offered to take him. Having said that if we can get them and they want to play for us I wouldn't object. Christ I probably would have taken Matthew Lloyd for a year if he was into it. At least it would raise our chances of getting a free inside 50.
  4. Especially after playing for us and Fitzroy Talk about a charmed life!
  5. At the very least if we're going to start recruiting international players we've got to get ones with fanciful names.
  6. Improved performance but still a 7/8 goal loss.
  7. Obviously having a club legend as their coach didn't really work.. Come on down Todd
  8. I pity the poor receptionist who probably had to sit there on Monday morning and cop hell from morons ringing up with far less reasoned comments than the letter by the OP. Hope she rang up and chucked a sickie at 5.10 on Saturday afternoon.
  9. Wouldn't you still have to get them through the draft? Aren't international rookies the only players you can sign directly?
  10. How come every man and their dog missed Aaron Davey? That worked out alright for us.
  11. It was reported at half time on SEN as "fact" and then never mentioned again. No mention of where it happened, who saw it or how the reporter (Granland?) knew. Sounds like bollocks to me but it's a pretty wild thing to just make up. Probably saw one guy piff his scarf on the ground.
  12. Life is a series of disasters and disappointments. Good to get used to it early.
  13. Surely there's a 20+ KPF with a proven record in the WAFL or SANFL that we could have looked at with a late pick (given that we were pretty much out of the PSD and rookie draft). Christ even if they're 27 years old at least a big body down there would drag some of the better big defenders away and give the other guys a chance to get near the thing. I'm not convinced by this theory that every player has to be 15 years old or you're going totally in the wrong direction. One or two mature aged players where they're required, picked up with selections that would only be used on a speculative youngster anyway, surely couldn't hurt. Look at when West Coast got Troy Wilson. They were a pretty ordinary side at the time but a 29 year old kicked 83 goals in 37 games, and I'll bet he won a few games off his own boot while he was doing it. It might not work and you might get somebody ordinary like Aaron Edwards, but bloody hell the way we're going Aaron Edwards might almost walk into our forward line.
  14. The upside is that we only have to wait until R4 to find out.
  15. AGREED. And this is for a guy who chose to stay with us instead of go to the Pies. He'd have every right to be bitter that he's given up the chance to play in a premiership contender but you'd never know it the way he goes 100% in everything he does. Legend. Enough of this rubbish trying to attach the "next captain" tag to every new young player that comes through the system, this guy is it.
  16. 6 - McDonald 5 - Jamar 4 - McKenzie 3 - Green 2 - Rivers 1 - Trengove
  17. Doesn't hurt that the place makes wads of cash
  18. Not to mention the question of how many of them are going to stay here when they've finished studying. We need to build long term fans. As much as I hate that line that people spout about the members West Sydney targeting not being born yet it's got some merit - you've got to put some kind of platform down to get the kids involved and now that we've got a geographical base (of sorts) I'm glad we're working it. Losing for the next ten years and trying to build the experimental all-top ten draft picks supersquad is one thing but I'd love to know how many kids have jumped off in the past couple of years.
  19. The issue is finding the players to fit around your top ten picks. Robbie Flower might be able to tell a story or two about being a gun in a team full of duds.
  20. Let's hope they're a step above ViaTel and OneTel.
  21. What about BF? As a native BF'er, and having posted there years before here or 'ology, I can't understand why it's so hated. There's a fair proportion of muppets but let the forum without clowns cast the first stone. Is the issue with opposition fans coming in and talking garbage? I'd expect it to happen more than it actually does.
  22. What happened to our supposedly annual game against Sydney in ANZAC Day round? It's a rubbish rivalry but at least it's got some point to it unlike trying to fire something even more fake up with St Kilda, Footscray or North. One year here, one year there, play for the Barassi Cup/medal whatever. It's not great but it's better than nothing, and you could make it a focus on the sportsmen who served during wars. The main ANZAC Day match would be the tribute to all soldiers who served, but our game would be a more focused celebration of sportsmen who went to war. Or we could concentrate on getting our 20,000 fairweather fans to show up for a game that isn't Queen's Birthday.
  23. Didn't they get (moderately) smashed on a late plunge?
  24. Any finals system that ups the chances of a team getting in with more losses than wins should be violently opposed. Well, maybe violently is a bit harsh..
