  1. Complimentary player to Jack Hiscock.
  2. Beating them more than once every five years would be good. Otherwise it's a sad one-way rivalry where our fans do their block and theirs only care about us twice a year.
  3. Good for a 'When A Doves Cry' headline after we lose in disastrous circumstances.
  4. Be careful or they'll replace them with the weird AI match preview posts. This was my favourite because it looks like there's a floating ice cream in the distance.
  5. There's always clubs that will lock players away on huge long term contracts that don't work out and end with a mad scramble to give them away. But enough about us...
  6. He can have a joint post-stitch up counselling session with Wade Derksen.
  7. Time for a Veale Deal style trade rort where they swap us a slightly better pick before he's coincidentally allowed to leave.
  8. I wonder if they get more money than us out of the Grill'd sponsorship. Certainly more guaranteed views in September.
  9. I can't take all the self-pity over all this, it reminds me of the Collingwood fans who were about to set themselves on fire the night Treloar etc... were traded. Shame we have to lose multiple club legends at the same time, but that's the modern business and it's not like any of them are at their peak. I'm saving my outrage for when the replacement players are hacks or play three games in five years.
  10. I thought Rigoni did alright in her appearances so far, but Johnson is way out of her depth. Taylor has easily been our most improved player this season, so hopefully this is a short term injury. Can understand not picking Campbell if it's going to be wet and windy, but they want her to replace Pearce long-term they'll have to find a way to get her back in the team eventually without making us ludicrously tall.
  11. If you want to cross-reference just in case, I have a list of lower grade players/recruits/people who showed up for one training session http://demonwiki.org/Other%20Players + lists of those we don't currently have a first name for. http://demonwiki.org/Unknown+Players+1890s-1920s http://demonwiki.org/Unknown+players+1930s-1940s ... and
  12. Obviously the answer is St Kilda, but if the trauma was weighted for age there's a big difference between a 50 year old Essendon fan with memories to hold on to and a 20 year old Essendon fan who has bugger all.
  13. Assuming the AFL's cash reserves are back up post-COVID, any chances of them buying a percentage of the stadium to help fund it?* * If they're really serious about this getting up.
  14. Odd debut season - picked for Round 1 after zero practice games alongside his new teammates, then got dropped and never looked like being recalled before his injury. Doesn't hurt to park some experience on the list but not holding my breath for him making a big difference in the future.
  15. He can stay or go, but at some point it would be nice to get an update directly from the player rather than by sticking pieces of media leaks together like a jigsaw.
  16. Massive excitement in year one, players chucking a sickie in year two, 20,000 people watching games against the Allies in year three.
  17. Wish him well, but feels like somebody who does their best work as part of a good team rather than being a difference-maker.
  18. I'd like to put in a word for Saraid Taylor, who has been really good in the homebrand backline. Still don't like our chances of beating the top teams, but for now happy to beat up on the strugglers.
  19. Some element of every fanbase in the competition would've disgraced themselves in the same situation, but it gets ugly when overwhelmingly one-sided crowds feed off each other negatively. Most of them probably didn't turn up intending to carry on, but got swept up in it. Reminds me of that documentary about the riots in Vancouver after they lost the Stanley Cup - normal people came to watch a game, and next thing they're tipping over police cars and looting shops. Along with not having to queue to take a whizz, the lack of a mob to spill into mob mentality* is one of my favourite things about following Melbourne. * Yes, I did enthusiastically get into the anti-Scully sentiment the first time we played against him, so direct accusations of hypocrisy to PO Box 666 in your capital city.
  20. Looks like the science is settled on the spelling of his first name, so I'll be editing the title of his page on Demonwiki.
  21. I think there's a good argument for him based on performance and contribution to the team. Players won more flags in the 30s/40s and 50s/60s, but they were part of great sides. 50% of Gawn's All-Australian selections* have come in non-finals years. I'm trying hard not to fall for recency bias, but captaining the breakthrough premiership puts it over the edge for me. Norm Smith still our greatest overall figure for playing and coaching combined, but there's still time for Max to get into coaching and deliver a few flags. *It's a bit unfair to use modern All-Australian numbers when past players didn't have the same opportunity to be named in the side, but trade that off against Gawn not being able to win state selection.
  22. Madison Ibrahim (ex-Essendon VFLW) was one of the two top-up players in the practice match squad against Adelaide, so would make sense as the first (possibly of many) rent-a-player recruit this season.
  23. More importantly, how long after the siren do the stories obviously planted by agents start? Will be lucky to get to Wednesday without a Petracca one.
  24. One career goal, one absolute belter at a crucial time of a game. Good strike rate. * and one ludicrously proportioned video.
  25. Buckley is so desperate to coach again he'd accept an offer from Fitzroy.
