  1. The upside is that we only have to wait until R4 to find out.
  2. AGREED. And this is for a guy who chose to stay with us instead of go to the Pies. He'd have every right to be bitter that he's given up the chance to play in a premiership contender but you'd never know it the way he goes 100% in everything he does. Legend. Enough of this rubbish trying to attach the "next captain" tag to every new young player that comes through the system, this guy is it.
  3. 6 - McDonald 5 - Jamar 4 - McKenzie 3 - Green 2 - Rivers 1 - Trengove
  4. Doesn't hurt that the place makes wads of cash
  5. Not to mention the question of how many of them are going to stay here when they've finished studying. We need to build long term fans. As much as I hate that line that people spout about the members West Sydney targeting not being born yet it's got some merit - you've got to put some kind of platform down to get the kids involved and now that we've got a geographical base (of sorts) I'm glad we're working it. Losing for the next ten years and trying to build the experimental all-top ten draft picks supersquad is one thing but I'd love to know how many kids have jumped off in the past couple of years.
  6. The issue is finding the players to fit around your top ten picks. Robbie Flower might be able to tell a story or two about being a gun in a team full of duds.
  7. Let's hope they're a step above ViaTel and OneTel.
  8. What about BF? As a native BF'er, and having posted there years before here or 'ology, I can't understand why it's so hated. There's a fair proportion of muppets but let the forum without clowns cast the first stone. Is the issue with opposition fans coming in and talking garbage? I'd expect it to happen more than it actually does.
  9. What happened to our supposedly annual game against Sydney in ANZAC Day round? It's a rubbish rivalry but at least it's got some point to it unlike trying to fire something even more fake up with St Kilda, Footscray or North. One year here, one year there, play for the Barassi Cup/medal whatever. It's not great but it's better than nothing, and you could make it a focus on the sportsmen who served during wars. The main ANZAC Day match would be the tribute to all soldiers who served, but our game would be a more focused celebration of sportsmen who went to war. Or we could concentrate on getting our 20,000 fairweather fans to show up for a game that isn't Queen's Birthday.
  10. Didn't they get (moderately) smashed on a late plunge?
  11. Any finals system that ups the chances of a team getting in with more losses than wins should be violently opposed. Well, maybe violently is a bit harsh..
  12. Is it just me who flinches whenever a forum or live chat is called a "blog"? Even worse when a blog post is called a "blog". That's the kind of frustration that you can't even write in to the papers about.
  13. I'd take Todd Viney over him any day of the week. Just stick to doing hammies on national TV Gaz.
  14. I've already received a couple of things in the mail. Thanks to those who have contributed.
  15. Currently it's a 34 for the Stefan Martin Experience, but I pine for the #28 of Philthy Phil
  16. Their fans stopped us from being a [censored] of a merged club. Good enough for me.
  17. R1, 2006 over Footscray in Darwin http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com.au/tiki-index.php?page=2006+NAB+Cup+Round+1 The last time I ever completely forgot that we were playing and missed a game.
  18. Post updated with properly scanned versions of the zones.
  19. As an aside to this post and the mention of the country zones, I found these two pictures of the old residential zones in the ECH Taylor 100 Years of Football book from 1958. It's nice how our residential zone to the North West ends (presumably where North's started) at the Spencer Street Railway Yards - not exactly a throbbing residential area.
  20. Great post. Really enjoyed this. Hope you're planning to do more.
  21. Tell him that SCULLGOVE will be present. He'll sign right up. Sure he can't come to a game where we're not going to get thrashed?
  22. What bits did McDonald say, and what bits did your friend say. That paragraph makes absolutely no sense.
  23. Same day as St. Kilda Festival? Good luck getting car parking within 5km of the place. UPDATE - Of course I can't tell the difference between March and February. WITHDRAWN.
  24. I'll be there making wild and premature judgements about how good we are.
  25. Mine are fine. The 2010 sticker on the number plate and the jumper MEMBER 10 one on the back window. In other news I'm shattered at losing my OBAMA '08 bumper sticker in a bumper bar swap after some [censored] ran into me in traffic.
