  1. Strictly for the kids I reckon, but no doubt some nutbags will be sending hundreds of photos of themselves in to try and prove how hardcore they are.
  2. That makes no sense. Of course you don't remember him for 37 because he changed it. Numbers freaks everywhere care
  3. My lucky number is 88. Can I wear that? Agreed with the post before, pick a number and make it your own instead of pissing about with it. There should be a statue to Shaun Rehn for staying #52. Jurrah had the chance to put #48 on the map, now he's just another 24.
  4. Cheers for that Jack, unfortunately I think other mentions of Douthie must be lost in the black hole of Google News Archive.
  5. Does this mean we've got some sort of KGB style dossier on suspected opposition scouts? I like it.
  6. If he stays fit I'm backing Matty Bate to go bananas next year. Should The Stefan Martin Experience not play as much next year I appoint Bate and Rivers my equal favourite players in his absence.
  7. This article suggests he was given the boot in a hurry after falling out with Barass. http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=DIYQA...elbourne+demons Of course then he kicked 8 on debut the same day we got 5 in total at Kardinia Park And I believe he later booted 0.8 in a game against us.
  8. There's no way this list is complete, but it's a work in progress. http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com.au/tiki-index....ge=The+Ex+Files Lou Riley Collingwood 1935-1936 Peter Keenan North Melbourne 1977 Stan Alves North Melbourne 1977 Greg Wells Carlton 1981 Michael Byrne Hawthorn 1983 Tony Elshaug Essendon 1985 Earl Spalding Carlton 1995 Clay Sampson Adelaide 1997 Martin Pike North Melbourne/Brisbane Lions 1999, 2001-2003 Matthew Bishop Port Adelaide 2004 Darren Jolly Sydney 2006 Steven Armstrong West Coast 2007
  9. Undoubtedly Allen Jakovich. I basically lost interest in football for two years after he went.
  10. Just to keep my b/s historical questions in the same thread does anyone know what the deal was with this guy? http://news.google.com.au/newspapers?id=2v...-club&hl=en 8 goals in an intra-club and touted as the next big thing but never played seniors. Just another case of intra-club form meaning nothing, or something more sinister? As an added incentive, I offer you the most dubious advertisement ever. October 1985, A spit roast from Big Bob, SS cutlery and waitresses in jumpsuits. What else could you want?
  11. I'd like to think that they'd install extra track between Caulfield and Dandenong to allow more expresses to go to Dandy. Should fire things up a bit.
  12. They'll have to buff up frequency and travel time on the Cranny line to make any sort of extension worthwhile. It's a joke at the moment - there's no point in adding more track if it's still going to take 500 years to get there from the city.
  13. 1. Geelong 2. Adelaide 3. St. Kilda 4. Footscray 5. Hawthorn 6. Brisbane 7. Collingwood 8. Sydney 9. Essendon 10. Carlton 11. West Coast 12. The People's Republic of Melbourne 13. Port Adelaide 14. Fremantle 15. Richmond 16. North Having said that I don't think there will be a standout last. We could win six games and still end up in the bottom of that bracket.
  14. Cheers guys, Thanks to everyone who has sent some answers in. I've finally gotten hold of a copy of the book again so I'm chopping through a few quite quickly. Cam Schwab was nice enough to answer the two 80's ones (Hutchinson = Dingley, Barham = Gisborne) http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com.au/tiki-index....e+Are+They+From
  15. Thanks guys, I'll keep updating the first post as the list gets cut down. Might even add the 1890's-1940's if it gets too short Barham is a true mystery man - I've seen three potential clubs listed now. In the biggest shock of all time I went through all my books and couldn't find the Encyclopedia of Footballers or the smaller MFC only version that I owned. Thought it would be a cert to show up in minutes after the info was already posted.
  16. Much appreciated. Now of course I will find that book in the next five minutes
  17. I actually have it somewhere, but I've been trying to find it amongst my books for the last six months
  18. Hi everyone, As part of Demon Wiki, I'm trying to find out where each of our players was recruited from. Various sources have turned up a lot of the older players but I'm still stuck with a fat list of people who I can't find recruiting info on. There's a few pretty famous names in the list but between all the usual suspects and a heap of trawling through old newspapers I simply can't find any mention. This is often because they're listed as coming from the Under 19's. In reverse order; 1970's Peter Dilnot (1972-1973) Frank Giampaolo (1973-1977) (possibly Manangatang) Laurie Queay (1972) Stephen Kerley (1971-1974) Greg MacDonald (1973) Ian McGuinness (1973) Shane McSpeerin (1971-1973) (Possibly St. Kevin's Old Boys) Kelvin Richards (1978-1979) Peter Thorne (1978-1984) 1960's Bob Carroll (1961-1964) Frank Davis (1964-1973) Ken Emselle (1962-1969) John Forster (1968-1970) Alec Ingwersen (1962) Brent Jones (1966-1971) Terry Leahy (1966-1967) (North Albury like his brothers?) Robert McKenzie (1969-1972) Mark Mitchell (1969) Ray Nilsson (1960-1963) 1950's Ben Crameri (1957-1958) Ray Hutchins (1950-1951) Robert Johnson (1954-1961) Dennis Jones (1956-1962) Con OToole (1950) Fred Webster (1955) I've also got some for every decade back to the 1890's. I won't post them here for space reasons, but if you might be able to help with some obscurities from those decades please let me know. The full list is here http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com.au/tiki-index....e+Are+They+From Cheers, SM
  19. The best bit was the perfectly good Justin Murphy goal that got called a point. Followed closely by the J. Mac probable point that was called a goal
  20. Right, I've gone out and bought a DVR just for the old games gimmick alone. Eventually I want to copy the matches to my computer to save them - is this in any way an easy process? Can you just stick a cable from one to the other or is there all sorts of jiggery pokery involved?
  21. Every post with those words is a step closer to the funniest moment ever when somebody finds a way to wreck Macs en masse.
  22. Realistically how long is "best 22" going to last even if the planets align and you get them to round one?
  23. A rookie draft player who has spent two seasons in a [censored] team. I can't understand why he's not already winning Brownlows. HANDS OFF THE MAN NAMED LIKE A HAIRDRESSER Regards, The Stefan Martin Experience season ticket holder #1 (of 1) P.S - It's amusing when people talk as if their selected 22 is the whole list. Ever heard of depth?
  24. What if you won the $30 million tattslotto What if peace spontaneously broke out across the world. What if a fat lady sat on your sunglasses at the beach. While you were still wearing them.
  25. I remember John Meesen "training the house down" and not being seen for another year and a half.
