So i think we carry 2 potential spots forward? Good chance to have a look at a few over summer and see who we might like. I thought there were still a few reasonable types in the rookie draft, so really interesting we didnt grab anyone at all....

ESPN gave our draft a rating of ‘C’. Looks like they were playing favourites and can’t get a handle on what we achieved. They should rate trade plus draft together. Did we improve our list? I think we did. My only concern is the lack of r1 next year to get essentially 2 early second rounders this year.

2 out of 3. Mccrae was a bit of a pipe dream, and had no idea about our late bolter. Laurie and Bowie are excellent selections (although I thought they would have been selected differently, with Laurie earlier and Bowie sliding to our later pick - but What do I know??). Happy with what we have achieved over the trade and draft period. Our result in 2021 will be based on our current list stepping up more than a new kid doing a Rowell for us, so these kids have time. Like the focus on footy smarts and kicking skills, can only make us better.

They also ditched r1 next year, so they get the f/s Daicos with points. Was always going to be their play, but they did get some talent in

McCrae, Laurie, Bowie lock it in, there is magic in the air!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
buck_nekkid replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
There was absolutely no hard evidence that he was disgruntled this year. A bit of media bs and everyone believed he was looking elsewhere. If he was ‘disgruntled’, 17 clubs would sell their sisters to get him, and there would have been blood in the water. Seems like the fake news of 2020, like Brayshaws ‘unhappiness’ the year before. Williams might be great for him, but he won’t be if he isn’t all in - I think between Williams and Burgo it might be a tough preseason! -
With the full review, we have taken some big steps. If we can get the best out of Richardson, Williams, Goody and Yze, you would have to think that is a pretty strong group to lead the club. Getting these guys to have clearly marked out territories and actively supporting each other will be a challenge, but the potential is huge if it works. No egos, but a common goal of success will be nice.

Luke Jackson's Offseason Transformation
buck_nekkid replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good ways to support their local gyms - maybe even ‘sponsors’? Getting someone famous in shape in a short program can be good for your marketing! Otherwise, would expect all players to have instructions from the club on what they are to work on - endurance, size, speed or whatever - in their off season. TMac getting lean, Dogga getting some muscle, Harmes getting rid of the budgie smugglers.... -
Expect JJ to really come on, but we have to add players at the top end via the draft first, so it gives us the ability to add to the quality and keep JJ, rather than have J on the main list and have to wait for the rookie draft to grab a kid with less potential (who missed being drafted). When the rules change again, he will be an obvious upgrade with a late pick
-
I think that clubs will probably keep a spot for the supplemental place like we did with Mitch Brown and Bennell. Get them to train over the summer and see who excites. Given the nature of the draft, there might be some that have higher risk that dont get drafted that need to be closely looked at over the pre-season. Hopefully we can find a diamond in the rough and hold one spot for SPP and get them to prove themselves over the summer. It nearly worked with Bennell. I would then use mid season draft to top up from mature leagues to cover any injury gaps.

Only on demonland. Tres Bon !

Don’t think we are looking for a tall, and we won’t have enough points to grab a top flight one anyway. Looking at the phantom drafts, I reckon there are about 6 kids that any two would be great pickups for us (wingers and small forward types), so 18 and 19 is a great hand. Who knows this year- might get a lot of value with some quality kids slipping with all the lack of exposure. it won’t take much to get back in round 1 next year if a name player leaves. Otherwise I think the whole points thing changes with the restrictions on top 20 picks for academy picks. We simply get a 12 month development head start on a kid this year.
-
Would be lucky if he slips through to 18/19 22/23 or whatever we are holding on the night
-
Thanks, Oscar. I wish him all the best in future, whatever comes his way
-
Possibility 4: we expect to lose an a grader and get a first rounder back, or lose a few b graders and get some second rounders we can package and trade for a first rounder in that draft?
-
Agree with this. For this guy to call it was massive- he was welded on. He was the last one I thought would leap off. For him it’s culture, he has stuck fat with poor performance, but he thinks this is the deal breaker.

To the dentist and back....

I have a very good pies mate who is filthy about this. He’s out till Buckley goes. Will cost the club over 1.5K just from him. How many others will vote with their wallets?
-
Smart move. Two first rounders for next years first. 25 will be pushed back this year and we get their second rounder next year (say 30) - about equal I’d reckon. Very smart trading, but do we go higher again??

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN

Cameron 2 first rounders plus Sideshow 33 and change Wright for a fourth rounder Tmac - no suitors Its a mugs game. No logic at all. No market value, just value to trading parties -
Goody was told by Pert to build a gameplan that played to our strengths. If TMAC is up to scratch, then lets see Goody’s genius emerge!

In 2020 the forward line was a joke. In 2021 it is going to just be a SIDESHOW!
