  1. I’d like to think that it’s not a contest between them, but rather an opportunity for them to practice operating together in the same f50. Imagine Brown leading up and Weidemann sitting back splitting the defenders and offering some juicy 1:1s for the Hf line to kick to. Frittata leading to the pocket as third option, and Kosi buzzing around ready to pounce.....
  2. Ok. Got me. I had forgotten about Harmes and his wrist. Probably because he played out the game and we didn’t use the sub. How about 2 weeks?....(not really). Cant remember the team being so settled in a long time. This is a good thing- if it is hard to get in to the team, nothing is gifted . Best chance of developing the game style and cohesion that we need to keep winning
  3. I cannot recall a stretch of 3 games where we didnt lose someone to injury. Loving this stat!
  4. CJ plays for the Hawks, we are playing the cats. CJ can run rampant next weekend, he wont be on the ‘G against us....
  5. Agree they are gettable. Need to keep the speed in the game, and respond to their short kicking bs (that drove me nuts when we played them last year). Dominate the forward half play, have better method going forward and use more speed and we can split them open. Need to be disciplined as the umps love them and they are a bunch of ducking snipers.
  6. Keep banking points. It is a crazy season, and will continue to be. Gotta keep getting the points in the bank every opportunity. Looking like a side that wants to win, and is prepared to work to make it happen. Well done Dees. Not champagne footy (yet).
  7. I think based upon what I have seen so far this year: our method of defence and contest are good. Our clearance work is not yet as good as it needs to be forward pressure and locking the ballin our half has been good skills on transition is an area for improvement when we get two key forwards back, things will really accelerate. i think if we can bank some ‘average’ wins, stay under the radar and keep the mindset positive and switched on, we can build across the season. I think the swans will be ‘March premiers’ and will run out of gas throughout the year. so for today, a workmanlike win with improved aspects of play across the day will be all I want. 30-45 points to feel relaxed, but I’ll still sing the song if we win by a point.
  8. Think they are also one of the teams that are benefitting from the new rules and the way the game is going. Maybe this brings the Tigers back to the pack, and launches the doggies, swans and others. ??
  9. Explainer for Collingwood fans 1. The stock market is more like the Caribbean gardens market but less stolen stuff. 2. Empire: a big building that Eddie reckons Adam Goodes hangs off. 3 clinging steadfastly: like how you hold your sister when she wakes up mid surprise love cuddle. A well articulated price - change it to MFC late last year, with ANB, Spargo, etc and you would think it was bang on for us then too. It is fascinating what a few wins does to the impression of mid range players. They are not such a bad team, but I agree they are on the decline vs others. Their problems will be ageing midfield (cant run out games) and forward line. Bottom 6 are probably a worry, with Daicos and Quaynor rapidly becoming important players overtaking many bog ordinary players.
  10. A religious result for the start of Easter! After a Dees win, nearly the best thing that can happen. Pies lose by a point after the siren. Thank you baby Jesus (now deliver on Sunday...)
  11. Nice to see the true match sim. Ball delivered to sideshow 2 m wide at his feet to meet his lead. Get him practicing for our normal forward entries!
  12. This statement by Pert demonstrates that Ms Wilson is pedalling half truths. She is not adding to the discourse, and hopefully backs off this and lets Burgo get on with it. IF he goes EOY, that would be a loss, but not an insurmountable one. (Richmond have won three flags without him!). The club have been spot on with their communication on this one.
  13. I thought every goal was automatically reviewed by the ARC? Massive fail on this one.
  14. Geelong are a pack of sucks. Dislike!
  15. Saints are a run and gun team. If we can make them play through contests, we can win this. This means we need to have our defence in top gear and include midfield in this. Not let them chain more than 3 possessions without having to win a hard contest. If we do this, the Saints won’t kick an adequate score and they dont have the defence to stop us. Win the contested ball, and we win the game. This will show whether the Dees are fluff, or really do want to win as they have so often said over the off season.
  16. Max was important on the weekend - drawing defenders in contests and allowing TMac to mark cleanly. He also took some good intercept grabs and provides a matchup headache.
  17. a guy called Roy Ward. Obviously a renowned footy expert....
  18. Think we might put another 4 points in the bank. The Saints were hot and cold with pressure efforts and they could have been shut out of it if bws didn’t miss the sitter to make it a 3 kick game. Conditions were atrocious hitting their legs hard and they have some big outs. Their speedsters are a concern, but our defensive wall needs a few fast smalls to stick tight, we need to play pressure all day and more than halve the contests and we win. do this and we take the chokkies.
  19. The Age has Oliver 8, Andrew Brayshaw 8, Trac 7, TMac 7 Fyfe 7. do they just look at the stats or something? not one vote for May or Lever? gotta be kidding....
  20. Nick Holman is a knee surgeon??
  21. Interesting game. Could easily see it as a poor performance/lucky win against decimated opposition. I think the ‘bones’ of what we want to do is there, we just had too many rusty players. The solid defence and its capability to push up and defend at the wing to lock the ball in worked well. When may and Lever (and Tommo) control the air in the defence, we look very good. Most of the issues I saw were players attempting skills that eluded them, hopefully mainly because it was the first game of the year. Work rate looked good across the board. Hunt and Harmes probably had ‘bad days’ with some patches of light. Kozzie was good, Dogga OK with some glimpses. I felt that we were pressured a couple of times, but never really threatened. The game style reflected this, and is welcome for the first game of the year. Our biggest issue remains our centre clearance work. The freo midfield are young but fairly high quality - but they smashed us. We keep getting all sucked into the contest and allowing ourselves to be tackled or left behind if the ball gets to the outside. Max has no plan B, and we look static in our set ups and activity at the bounce. A mixed bag of skills, but a win with good work rate, outstanding defence, and a lot of the game played in our half. I imagine those things alone are pass marks for the team in that game.
  22. Lots of ‘learnings’ in that i reckon....
  23. Got something that was booked up last year, so can’t make it today. It is already killing me that I can’t be there. Go Dees, make the pain of having to sneak peeks at the app at inappropriate moments during my other thing worth it!
