  1. They smashed us in the middle, dominated groundball, applied heaps of pressure. and we fell for it. Tried to do too much all day. Missed the first option, ran second to too many contests. Bad day at the office for many today. No winners forward of the ball. I 50 was appalling. Lucky to be as close as we were. Felt like 6 goal loss if you didn’t peek at the scoreboard.
  2. Apart from the weather, Brown does not suit ourmethod inside 50. Seems we deliver defensively outside a V at 45 degrees to make the ball easier to trap in. We then have secondary midfielders present in the V to take inboard marks for easier set shots. Happened a lot on Saturday night. this means a big forward has to lead to the pockets to honour the system, which seems crazy. The other option is to offer the secondary lead. Seems contrary to what someone like BBB would naturally do (lead at the ball carrier). Interesting to see if we alter the method or how the personnel play. so BBB does not fit our defensive offensive method. Wonder what he has to demonstrate to overcome this?

  4. watched the replay. We held those failed vaccinators to 2 goals per quarter. we dominated the first quarter but didn’t capitalise on the score board. Ess had no way through our defence. It took long bombs by stringer to do anything early. Kossie needs to keep it simple. Not every touch has to make Bruce cry. in the last quarter, our groundball and handling was way down. Missed many easy opportunities because of this. Brayshaw was fantastic. Gawn gets throttled so often, but was really good. Too many over the head outlet handballs. Better cohesion in the middle. on replay, the result was never in doubt! Got lots to improve- groundball skills, I 50 delivery and goal kicking. Was not really that close given the difficulty they had in scoring.
  5. Watch it without sound. No prob with the free kick allocations on the night. By the sound of the bomber whining you would think someone had lost a limb.
  6. Folks, all that sour grapes and lack of respect will just make the end result sweeter. Essendon flogs ‘not rating’ Melbourne after the game are just sooks. Every week the media are going to drum up some team, the blues, the dons or whomever. Then I stop and look at the ladder.
  7. He might be a good option high half forward manning a crafty hb type. Will rotate through the middle. Think he is back in the queue behind Jones.
  8. The Jordon 100m was Def there. The Essplayer was way too late too stand the mark and the ump clearly calls for him to stay clear. He doesn’t, and is about 3M over the mark. Gotta be 50. Then that gob Smith is into the ump and another 50.
  9. Devon shire-tea is ok too. ”stop yelling at me Devon!” Best line of the night. richo is a special type of tool.
  10. I just popped into Bomberblitz for a laugh. Now I feel dirty. Not enough hand sanitizer for that. All about the umpires and how bad we are. Ha ha! Suck a sav you loser booing clucks.
  11. We saw the lions use defence to smash the cats. This is our model. Keep the ball in front of us and halve contests and we win. Let them get out the back and that’s where they get their run going. Our back 6/7 will do fine if we support up the ground. Need to minimise our turnovers going inside 50. they run fast, but we will run for longer. Gotta take all the wind out of their sails, and their supporters, with tough uncompromising footy from the first bounce. We need to win the middle and keep therm under pressure. They will wilt. Stringer plays only one good game every now and then, so not expecting too much from him. Tippa needs to be kept out of it. Line on line we have the better list. Lets not mess this one up, demons! Dees by 37 points.
  12. Agree completely with your review and analysis…. Especially the game style on grounds like the SCG (probably cattery as well). LJ was a much better choice than Max in the middle, and we simply were off all over the park.
  13. Players were trying to do too much. Happened again and again. Either the system works, or the superstars do super things. We look like we didn’t trust the system, and all the superstars were well down. When have yo seem max, Clarrie and Trac all have such stinkers on the same day?
  14. That was insipid. lost the middle, no two way run, poor defensive efforts, players trying to do too much. max Trac and Oliver all below par. worse than Adelaide game. no answers to pressure, no overlap, expecting others to do the work. weids - who? A good ff would demand the ball from the square. Brown has to come back in. im shattered. That was not 2021 demons.
  15. The stats say the pies are taller, heavier, older and more games experience than us. if we win the middle and disrupt their kick to kick setups we will win big. Can see them running on emotion (like 60/40 green cordial) for a bit. Gap them early and break their spirit. Otherwise the flogs will hang in there till early in the third and we put a stamp on it. Gawn to dominate, Weids to deliver. Go Dees
  16. Got 3 different pubs booked in 2 hour slots so I can get from the big freeze to the team belting out the song on licenced premises, with a few well timed short stumbles in between….
  17. This aligns with what i thought. He had agility and speed off the mark issues. A six week mini program sounds a great way to sort this
  18. Do either team know how to defend? Geelongs rubbish hb possession game and port still can’t set up. Geelong holding and cheating all game (got called start of the 4th). Port letting its two key oppo targets roam unmanned. High scoring but little system wide defending.
  19. Since he went out, bbb has barked like a dog. Maybe if he was putting even a marginal case, it would rate a conversation.
  20. Bbb was on the rails run until injured. He has to work hard and kick the door down. No free passes in that forward line. If he doesn’t understand that, then he will never get selected. It’s the system he has to work to deliver. to me, he didn’t look like he could get separation from defenders. Needs to build agility and fast twitch sprint capability - he should chat to TMAc, who cut his lunch.
  21. Wonder what the ferals are saying now?
  22. Try can play as hard as they like. If we turn up, we win.
  23. Appreciate your share, and your clarity in the nature of the info.
  24. The numbers are still interesting, always love your work Rusty.
