  1. I can't wait for the moment Petracca, Hogan, Brayshaw, Weideman & Oliver run on to the G together full of confidence knowing they can win any game they play. Let it happen. Small steps first but there's a future right there.
  2. Easy to register, I'm in. Tipped 2 upsets so see you at the bottom shortly fndee.
  3. Let them know we're coming is the most important message here.
  4. Saw the thread topic, read some of the insightful posts and rhubarb in-between, but Howe is gone at years end.
  5. Roos? WTF? Coach them to flood, man up the loose player when we hit the front and defend at all cost. Very frustrating. And don't blame the players. If you communicated effectively this wouldn't have happened.
  6. The hold up is the usual argy-bargy re terms as negotiated by his manager. And now it's the Xmas break so expect an outcome next week or relax and wait until the new year. He's not going anywhere.
  7. I remember that hit. Forward flank/forward pocket Punt Rd end MCG southern stand. Lined him up with no regard for the ball. Matthews only intention was to take Giles out. A thug act of the first order.
  8. We will be harder, we will be tougher, we will be skilful, we will play football. In memory of the great Robbie Flower. A Demon champion.
  9. I was there in 64 at the Grannie. As a tacker I kept an autograph book and had most of the players sign it. Now lost, so great to see this!
  10. RDB still has that look in his eye. He was one hard at it tough bustard.
  11. From my observations watching Paul Roos coaching and his team selection & player development at Sydney, Matt Jones is exactly the type of player he would have some faith in. As always, time will tell.
  12. Thanks Flash...selling the dummy, the twist and baulk, pressure tackling and wrong foot bananas are right up there. Enjoy bringing up five kids!
  13. I'd ideally package Watts, Sylvia & Frawley together as trade. See what's offered. Of course that won't happen but there's always other ways to cut the pack. We're at ground zero...nothing lost except more of the same.
  14. A big part of our downward spiral was the idiocy of appointing two unproven AFL footballers as co-captains.
  15. Stockdale? This would be a backslide of the biggest order. Bad option. Definite NO from me. No wonder there's some issues.
  16. FFS...did none of you rabbits read the first post? 1990's and 2000's only. Saw Barassi and Flower play...sensational...unfortunately not eligible. Try again.
  17. Stephen Tingay...dynamite...All Australian 1994.
  18. This discussion should be over already. Barassi trumps Buddy (bad call for a name) by a light year...so far. Let's see what happens next...will Buddy actually produce when it matters...or go missing as usual. Barassi went hard all the time.
  19. Good luck to Big Max this season. He deserves a decent run at it. Always get a laugh from Gawn in Sixty Seconds and his interviewing style. It may stem from this: From 'The Horologicon - A Day's Jaunt Through the Lost Words of the English Language'. "gawn...an ancient dialect term meaning 'to stare curiously' ".
  20. Idiot effort "by the boys". Pick & choose numbnuts! More than one brain between them, you'd get a rattle.
  21. The best thing that could happen to 'young Col' in 2013 is that he might actually have to fight for a spot in the starting 22. No longer a walk up start is on the cards.
  22. I was visiting my sister in Nimboida, back of Grafton, earlier this year and the Southern Cross network featured this kid as part of their sports news section.
  23. Jimmy Riddle is one to keep an eye on as far as our drafting goes. Blitzed one of the tests at the draft combine today but was an also ran at others. I bet the recruiting department have an eye on him. Comes from Delungra in NSW...17 yrs old, 194 cms and 87 kgs. Has size, some skill and played rugby league as a junior. Plus he likes a big grab and crashing packs. The only footage I've seen was like Jack Hawkings. For what it's worth his beep test was amongst the best.
  24. Picked for his attitude and ability to set an example for our younger players as much as anything else. A great trainer, even in his school days in Shepparton, and from all reports he's maintained this and his fitness. I'm ambivalent about this signing but can guess at what the club sees as upside. Nevertheless, good luck Shannon.
