  1. This was my first thought too. If he could be 3/4 as effective as Pendlebury he'd be an excellent contributor to the team.
  2. The key thing to remember here is that "some clubs are more equal than others"
  3. Very well regarded at Gold Coast according to my contact.
  4. Pickles Evans to kick 30+ goals from a wing.
  5. "I find I'm so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope we can win games across the border. I hope to see my fellow supporters and proudly shake hands after a great victory. I hope a Premiership is as incredible as it has been in my dreams. I hope." Roosshank Redemption
  6. This is a great result. Bail is not an AFL grade player in any form.
  7. Depressing thought. Pick 12 Tom Lynch, Pick 13 Lucas Cook...
  8. anyone able to shed light on the jumper numbers for the Melbourne players when they play for Casey? I've watched the highlights and can only recognise the players that have played regular games for the Demons.
  9. I didn't think much of Jake's ruckwork, but what I did like was the fact that he chased the opposition when they had the ball with real intent. He didn't catch them at any stage, but you could see that he was really pushing himself to at least pressure the opposition. Jamar would have been just plodding along.
  10. The bombers rested players against the Giants, the Blues are resting players against us. Says a lot about how we are viewed
  11. Disappointed there hasn't been any update on the changes/improvements made on his first day. ;-)
  12. Can the last person to leave please make sure the lights are turned off... I can't help but feel that sooner or later one of these hits will be the knock-out blow.
  13. I have a sweet spot for the cats and follow them relatively closely as my father follows them. I remember the year the cats took their trip to Lorne. I remember discussing how bad they were with a cats supporter mate around the time of the trip. I remember looking at their list and thinking they are in real trouble. Joel Corey, Enright, Kelly were just not good enough. 18 months later they won a flag. If you go back to the draw We had with them I think at the end of that year and trace the success of both teams they are polar opposites. Things can turn around pretty quickly.
  14. How did Evans go? What are everyone's thoughts on his prospects for the year? When he first started I had high hopes for him. I thought he showed more than Bail and Nichiolson, but he just couldn't get on the park.
  15. Can anyone recommend a place to park? I'm thinking of taking my 3 year old for his first Demon experience and will be driving. From the MFC website I get the impression that parking at Casey Fields is limited and could be an issue. Any advice...
  16. MELBOURNE 1. Jesse Hogan, 2. Nathan Jones, 4. Jack Watts, 5. Jimmy Toumpas, 6. Chris Dawes, 7. Jack Viney, 8. James Frawley, 10. Shannon Byrnes, 12. Colin Sylvia, 13. Jordie McKenzie, 14. Lynden Dunn, 15. David Rodan, 17. Sam Blease, 19. James Strauss, 20. Colin Garland, 21. Cameron Pedersen, 22. James Magner, 25. Tom McDonald, 26. Daniel Nicholson, 27. Tom Gillies, 28. Joel Macdonald, 30. James Sellar, 31. Jack Grimes, 32. Michael Evans, 34. Dean Kent, 36. Aaron Davey, 38. Jeremy Howe, 39. Neville Jetta, 40. Mark Jamar, 42. Jake Spencer, 45. Matt Jones, 46. Dean Terlich, 47. Tom Couch, 48. Jack Fitzpatrick Remarkable comebacks by Sam Blease and James Frawley. Think something is wrong there Jack. The striked out are mentioned in the article as being rested or injured.
  17. I'd love to see a win or two before the season proper starts. I'm a big beleiver in going into the start of the season with some momentum. Something we haven't done in probably a decade.
  18. How many times does Bail get the ball in comparison to Jones? Half the time at most... Also Jordie is a tagger which as a result of his role he will be more likely to give away more free kicks... I haven't analysed the stats, but I know that when I watch Bail play he seems to make more silly mistakes and give away more stupid free kicks than others in the team. Others on this site have mentioned it too so I'm not Robinson Crusoe in my belief.
  19. Agree with your point about the tackling. To me Bail looks good when he is running with the ball in his hands. BUT he gives away soooo many free kicks when not in possession, often at critical times in a game by a head high tackle or by falling into an opponents back. The most annoying thing is he doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes... Drives me freakin crazy.
  20. Arguably they are all surrounded by far better midfields than ours. Makes a big difference. Des Headland looked like a star in the awesome Brisbane premiership teams but was never as good when he went to Freo cause he didn't have the gun midfielder to support him. Also, Trengove was chasing the opposition from start to finish this year when all the others had given up, he ran himself into the ground. If the team is pulling it's collective weight, blokes like Jack won't have to pull the others along.
